That's weird. Did they tell you that at the AT&T store? They switched my SIM right in front of me, and I know of others who upgraded to the 3GS and simply swapped the SIM out of their existing 3G iPhone and then turned around and sold the 3G on ebay for a pretty penny. That's why they enclose a little tool that looks kinda like an unfolded paper clip with every iPhone--so you can use it to open the SIM tray located next to the headphone jack on the top of the phone.

Maybe because I wasn't upgrading MY phone, I was buying the upgrade, but planning on giving it to my husband? But yes, this is what I was told.

I have an Iphone and it is insured plus i have an extended warranty that you can buy for around $75. it gives you an extra 2 years after the factory warranty is up. I have heard alot of people say that you can't get insurance on the iphone, but I have it so maybe it depends on what area you live in We have 2 iphones and a regular cell on our account and our monthly bill is around $185.00 and that is with a honda employee discount. So it is expensive but worth every penny since I use it way more then any other cell phone I've ever had..there is sooo much you can do with it!

Wait!! Do you mean I can buy a cheap prepaid and swap the card and it will work with my plan? If that's what you mean, I didn't know that!!!

Yes, it'll work just fine. Last year my phone was stolen (so my card was gone too). Best Buy fixed me up: I bought a GoPhone (must be one that says AT&T on the package, the selection isn't great) and a new card. An hour later my stolen phone was cut off and my new phone was working -- with my old number.

Best Buy was great.

Sadly it seems that the phone is lost so no sim card.

I wasn't planning to get an Iphone right now so I've been thinking about the reg G for myself instead of the Gs so save a few bucks. DD is getting my old phone.

Anyone get a G instead of Gs and regret it?

We just got an old phone from a friend and they activated it over the phone on my plan. I didn't want to buy a phone, and this worked no problem. I didn't change any card. They just programed the phone for the number.

Bit of info for I-phone people: If you have an I-phone and you do crack the glass, check in your area if you have a place that will fix it. My DH's boss cracked his and thought he would have to buy a new one...but found a place that replaced the glass and much, much cheaper than buying a new one.

I thought the screen was just cracked. Did the phone get damaged so badly you can't switch out the sim-card?

Note to self: Do NOT get an LG Shine, too many people on this thread have had issues.

I want your plan, that is a GREAT price for 2 IPhones + a cell...is it unlimited texting, unlimited minutes, etc.? I think mine (which is now 3 cells with unlimited texting, no data plan, 2000 shared minutes + rollover), with replacing 2 of the cells with 2 IPhones would rocket to over $210 .

Sorry for the confusion. She told me the screen was cracked and when I asked to see it, she couldn't find it in her bag. It still hasn't turned up. So broken AND lost. I'm not happy with her.

I would pay ten bucks for a used phone on ebay. Then I would go to AT&T and have them assign it to her number. Having to use the old phone until it's time for her upgrade might give her the incentive to take better care of her stuff.

Um, I've bought a Go Phone before and had that Sim Card activated onto our existing Family Plan. I don't know that Best Buy can do it for you but I do know that AT&T did it for me.

I don't have one of the newer iPhones yet. We don't get very good 3G coverage where I live, so there's never been a rush for me to upgrade. I'm due for a new phone in March and I'll probably upgrade to the newest iPhone then - mostly to get the 32GB because my phone is almost full.

We got the 3G instead of the 3GS....the only difference we were told was that the 3GS has the capability of the screen changing from up and down view and sideways view when texting and it also can record video. If you don't care about recording video and you want to change the the texting view you can just download the upgrade for the 3G and get that. I hope that made sense..lol!
