Hope DS does not read this, it could cost me a small fortune.
He is still a year off majority of his GCSE's but taking some this week a year early.
He is hopeless at revising but everytime we see the teachers or get reports they all say on course for top grades.

Im going through something similar with my Vicki at the moment, she says that she feels for the last 5 years thats all she has done is revise, first GCSE's, then A levels,then staying on an extra year in college to take a foundation course, on top of that working weekends in a shop and evenings in a bar,to keep her car on the road, its all taking its toll, however she has just been spured on by the fact the the Uni she has applied for has just informed her they have a place for her in Sept as long as she passes the course with a Merit, so she is now hoping it has all been worth it

Thanks Bev, Im very proud and hoping she takes me to live with her in the States when she gets the film editors job in Hollywood

I do sometimes think its tough on teens with the amount of studing they have to do as well as the growing into adults they are also trying to deal with at the same time, good luck to all the teens taking or about to take any exams in the coming months, Im sure it will all be worth it in the end

When I was studying for my GSCEs and A Levels (which was a few years ago) I found it was easier to plan my 'study days' and split revision into 1 hour chunks, I would do 50 minutes of revision and then 10 minutes break.

It worked pretty well until it came to FRENCH revision, and I would get really stressed with this and have 40 mins work and 20 mins break! lol Still managed to get an A in my A Level though, so it must have worked.

I used to get up every morning at 8am and then start revision at 9 then work until 12 and then have an hour for lunch and then work until 7/8pm, so I would get loads of notes done.

Financial Motivation always helped, and my mum even paid for me to have a full relaxation massage and facial at the beauticians after my exams were finished!!

wow you lot are quick! some great ideas but think i will go for the money route as he loves his xbox and i could maybe bribe him with a few vouchers from game! hes not at the gcse level yet he's just heading into 4th year, but even the thought of coursework worries me. us mums seem to do nothing but worry good luck to all sitting exams and for mums and dads!

I wouldn't worry too much about coursework. A lot work is done in school and my DS has had a lot of input from the teachers as to where he could improve on it, to be honest I've hardly seen him do any at home. My other DS has had a lot more 'homework' in year 7 and 8 than his brother in year 10 & 11.

I have to be honest - I've been thinking about this a lot and I actually think that my kids are a lot more disciplined when it comes to homework and revision thn I was - and I didn't have the distraction of computers and electronic games. So I guess they are doing pretty well really
