I'm usually very careful with what I let my teen do (DS 14y.o.) because I know the trouble they can get into but I felt very comfortable giving him some freedom on the ship and actually he was the one always checking in with us! One time I called common grounds (he lived there and would have like to sleep there if they had that option) and they got him on the phone right away.
He was required to have dinner with the family and when we got off at Nassau he was required to be with us as well. At castaway Cay he and his friends ended up staying at the family beach so they were always in sight.
