My 16yr old son is on the fence about going on the disney cruise with us this October. He doesn't want to miss the experience but isn't sure that it will be much fun. Any advice. I have never cruised so I can't actually reassure him that he will have a blast.. no experience to go off of.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :earboy2:

We are leaving next week for our 3rd Disney Cruise. Between us and the other family we go with, there are 4 teenage boys. This year when picking our February trip. The 17 and 15 year old picked the Disney Cruise again. They love it. We were on Royal Caribbean last year and the boys said they liked Disney so much more.

If he wants to contact my son, let me know.

I can give you an update when we return.

Believe me, unless he is totally anti social and does not enjoy meeting new people and experiencing new things...he will have a ball. My teens loved every DCL cruise we took (13) and always met new friends and the time of their lives....

My DDs are 15 and 13 and I had booked a "Beaches" all inclusive vacation last November and when they found out they wanted to sail again with DCL....We have our 5th and 6th already booked....They love it!!!
We get the "unlimited internet" access and they enjoy bragging to friends back home...

He wont be going with anybody his age or close to his age... I know that he wont be anti-social, but like everyone the fear of the unknown is making him leary...

I would love an update on your cruise and I will ask my son if he would feel better talking to someone who has cruised before that is his age..

Thanks for everything! :flower:

Our DD was 13 on our first DCL cruise, 14 on the second, will be 15 on our 3rd (Aug 2005) and if we do a fourth it'll probably be when she's 17 .. she LOVES the teen club .. just make sure your son goes to the "411" on the first night (around 10:30pm) that's the best time to meet the other teens and start making friends.

We are sailing March 10th Wonder 2005 with our two sons 17 and 6. I'm also worried about the 17 year old having a good time. Anyone sailing at that time with teens? This will be our first cruise ever and I want everyone to have a good time. :sad2:

Mumph39: I pm'ed you as I have a DS16 who will be on the 2/19 cruise. Thought he might be interested in hearing from your boys ahead of time.

See ya real soon!

What kind of things are there to do in the "teen club"? I am going on my first cruise in March with a 14 yr old DS. Just wondering what he should expect.

How late do most of the teens stay out? Bedtime????

Hi we were on the Magic springbreak 2004 and the Stack closed at 2 am... then some of the kids went and sat on the stair on deck 6 and talked...

If you check Dave's site, http://dcltribute.com/navigators/ I believe that he has the teen navigators listed. My teens said it was the DCL was the best vacation that they had EVER had..

My DD was 14 on our first DCL Cruise and will be 17 this month when we cruise again. She had a blast with all her new cruise friends and I am hoping it will be the same again this time. We sail on the 27th. I hope their will be a few others her age.

DS (14) will be 15 on our 7 night cruise. On the Wonder the Teen Room is called the Aloft and on 7 night I was told it is called Stack we have never done a 7 night yet..They are opened to 1 am or so. All ages 13 - 17 I believe..

For new Years on the Wonder DS came in 2 nights in a row at 2 15 am one night was new years eve so it was ok cause I knew where he was..they had a teen only new years party.

The counslers stay in the room at all times with the kids. There are playstation games as well as board games and they play a Man Hunt game called Gotcha..I was jealous cause I wanted to play but I am too old... Oh and 1 of the nights they had a play for free arcade gameroom night.. I think on the wonder it is 1 floor below the Aloft..

DS won't come with us anymore to WDW but when we book a DCL he insists on going.. He Loves it now that he goes to the Teen room..

There is also a movie theater on the ships.. Plus the normal, ping pong, shuffle board, internet room, etc...

I think your son will have fun and IF he would like to my son, I am sure he will be glad to help out about the cruise..

DS is BEGGING us to go on Thriller, it's a speed boat, normally only for adults, but now they have a Teen Only trip... I think it's in Nassau.. Not sure about Castaway Cay..

On our last cruise our DS, who was 17 at the time, was certain he wouldn't have a good time and would be bored to tears. The best thing he did was hook up with a few others his age prior to sailing in the cruise meets forum. After the "411 meet" in the Stack, we never saw him except for dinner & excursions! He had a blast and is still talking about it.

Thanks for the replies, I think he will have fun but it would be nice if he could find someone ahead of time to chat with also on the same cruise ( 3/10/05 Wonder ). I have posted on the cruise meets forum but have had no response.
Thanks again

im a teen and i LOVE the cruises! my parents reccomened the rccl cruise for our next one (# 3 in nov) and i pretty much said i would go but i would MUCH reather go on dcl cuz i know its going to be awesome. long story short were going on disney :) not meeting anyone b4 hand might be fun (ive never meet any teens b4 hand) because then he will meet more people on the first night and not just hang out with the one person...thats just me tho...but i make friends fairly easy. if he wants to talk to a teen that was on a dcl cruise before pm me and ill shoot you my screen name

This will be our second disney cruise, When we asked our DD what she wanted for her sweet 16 present she said a disney cruise! We of course said yes! :cool1: Our last cruise she brought a friend this one she wanted to go alone.. She met so many teens she said she did'nt need to bring anyone.

Our son was 16 when we cruised last year for our first time on Disney. We took him and found the Stack when we first boarded and he went inside. We only saw him a couple of times the rest of the cruise!! He had such a great time. Consider signing your teen up on the teen Junkanoo cruise on the catamaran. Austin loved it and I think it was only $25 or so. But, space is limited, sign your teen up before you leave the house.

And now, my DS's view on the cruise:

Hey i'm Austin, i was very much like your son i thought "this is a cruise for little kids and old people" but i soon changed my mind. i found the stack and met some friends and we all made this group that done just about everything together. i had fun in the stack which had alot of fun stuff to do like ps2 game night and so on. they also have alot of fun stuff at the ports for the teens and stuff so in another words there's always something for you to do. well i hoped i helped you out, later.

My son was 16 when he came with us on our first cruise in 2001. He absolutely LOVED it! There is security on board specifically to watch out for the teens. They stayed up most of the night on the decks that didn't have cabins just talking and hanging out.

He is now a Marine stationed in Okinawa and still chats with some of those friends he made back then.

On our next cruice Feb 25, 2006, my daughter will turn 16. She is bringing a friend (for the first time on a DC, this will make our third DC and fourth overall) and they are both excited. They can't wait!
