19 year old traveling alone on return trip from Disney because of school. Which would be easier to put her on magical express at our hotel (pop century) or to book her a town car? I wasn't sure where the town car dropped off at etc since we've only done Magical express.
She's only flown a couple of times and always with family to lead her way. LOL

Also this will be on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

How much luggage will she be checking?

Car service will drop her off on level 3 near her airline. Possible curbside check in or enter the terminal.

DME drops off on level 1. Pax have to go up to level 3. Southwest is on the opposite corner of the terminal

19 years old is an adult. I would let her make the decision and be responsible for it. She might appreciate the freedom.

The Magical Express is not terribly difficult to figure out if she’s following signs. And it’s a free option.

A town car would be easier. They will need to have her cell phone so they can communicate when they're about to arrive, etc. They'll meet her at baggage claim at MCO and help her get her bags, then take her to the resort. For the ride back, they'll pick her up at the porte cochere at the resort- the same place where Magical Express picks people up. Bonuses are that she'll get baggage help each way, and it will be faster than Magical Express.

That being said, if she's done Magical Express on prior trips and liked it, and wants to do it again for nostalgia, that will be fine, as well. It serves its purpose, just a bit more slowly. She should bring some cash to tip the driver either way.

Either way, talk to her about what to do if the ride doesn't show up on time. She may technically be an adult, but if in your family the parents do all the travel planning and the kids of any age just follow along, she might not be used to thinking through this type of problem-solving. (Either MDE or towncar are likely to arrive on time, but there have been occasional reports of problems with both.)

My DD21 joined us half way through our last trip. We paid for her to take an Uber since her flight landed at 8:30 PM and would otherwise not make to our resort until after the restaurants closed. She arrived to BWV in less than an hour. I believe that it was less than $40 which is significantly less than a town car.

Edited, I see this is a return trip to the airport to go back to school. In that case, I would have her take DME. Just make sure she knows where to check in for her flight when you arrive for the start of your trip.

Thanks for the replies.
It is only for the return flight that she will be alone but they are not using magical express on the way there.
She's also never been to Disney before so it's all new to her.
She's also not my child but a friend of my child who is joining us and I felt like she would choose the free transportation option only because it's free but I worried about her on such a busy holiday travel day at an airport she's not familiar with so I thought I'd ask if there was a difference between drop of spots/which was easier.
And I realize 19 is an adult but like I mentioned she's only flown a couple times (never to disney) and always with family where I feel like "kids" (which she was the last time she flew) just tend to follow the parents lead and maybe not pay attention to directions. I just wanted to make it as easy as I could for her.

I was in a similar scenario back when I was in college. I had to return from the trip earlier than my family due to an internship. I used magical express and it was super convenient - I left early in the morning so my family was actually with me to see me off. Also you can always leave earlier than your DME time if she is worried about making it for the flight. As a young women, I would prefer DME over a towncar just my opinion.

My girls have been going to WDW since they were very young and are pros at it. So I would think that they would be more comfortable doing something like DME, which they are used to, compared to going in with a stranger in a town car. Ask you daughter what she thinks.

Cut the cord for crying out loud. She’s 19. Tell her to get her own Uber and see ya later. Jk 😂. My baby is getting to be that age too. Want to keep them safe. I get it.

I say towncar and make sure the driver knows which airline and departure doors to drop off at. Even write it down. And have her have it up on her Google maps the whole time too.

Save the money and take ME. Why waste money on a towncar when ME is free. You're not really saving that much time and you don't have to worry about a thing.
