My DD 15 yrs old has long term memory loss. She became ill at disney when she was 13 yrs old. Dx'd with CFS, Fibro, Pain disorder, Stress and a few other things.
She remembers nothing from before she got ill but did maintain her acdemic skills. After missing almost 2 full years of school she went back and made honor roll in honors classes the last grading period last year and as a Freshman this year has been on honor roll all year while taking weighted honors classes along with playing sports all year. Volleyball, basketball and now softball.
On occassion when DD gets really stressed she still has a few siezures which while they look simular to an epeliptic seizure they are not epleptic believe me we been to the ER and drs with these seizures they are just from stress. Unfortunatly when DD was in a minor accident and I was not there to speak for her she was taken by ambulance to the ER even tho older sis 28 was there she could not speak for her younger sis.
Evenings finds DD pretty much an airhead no logical thinking no common sense when she is at home. Yet when she has away games she usually manages to hold it together at least till she gets in the car with us.
DD has been to disney many times more than a dozen I'd say. She doesn't remember ever going tho due to her memory loss. She hasn't been since she was there in Oct 03 when she started getting ill.
We are taking DD in June a part of me wants to start her off in Fantasyland yet I know that's not what she wants. Why Fantasyland so she can get the full effect of disney the same as a young child going for 1st time. Cause she doesn't remember that. That would be MY VISIT to disney tho and this is DD's visit to disney there is a differnce.
We all need to be happy DH, DD and myself. DD has talked with friends and myself she knows what's there for her as a teen. Mission space RNR and a few others that DH and I have no desire doing. I'm thinkin of allowing DD to go off on her own in the AM yet keepin in touch with her by cell phone and prolly stayin in same section of park with her but not totally with her. Which if she was totally normal I wouldn't have a problem with her being in the park on her own, I'd prolly go to the same park tho. With her history just not sure how much to allow her to go off on her own. Yet don't want to spend all morning every morning waitin for her to get off the attractions she wants to do. Like I said this is her visit but yet want all of us happy and having a good time. Her trip my money so to speak.
We have 5 day tickets, plan to stay 7 nights at least could possibly stay for more but not goin to the parks every day. Saturday is one day we gonna avoid the parks. Might do downtown disney and the disney store that day early in day after we sleep in. Possibly some pool time then we got PS's for 1900 Park Fair that evening like 7:15 or 7:30 I'd have to go look it up. I'd like to visit the gift shop at the Floridian and do some sight seeing there. Then hop the monorail back over to TTC or the MK. Thinkin we might stop at the Poly to watch the Fireworks from the beach. That depends on time of fireworks plan on being back at the resort and in bed by about 11 pm that night at the latest.
OH and DD wants to do the EMH AM and PM daily lol To funny DH could prolly do the am better than I could as he's used to being up those hours but on vacation it's sometimes a challenge to get him to the park at 9 am much less 8 am or earlier. After all he's on vacation and wants to sleep in some. Myself I'm used to being up most of the night if not all night and could do the EMH PM no problem other than being tired from walking. Biggest problem I see with the EMH is one of us getting woke up when we don't want to be. If DH and DD goes AM i get woke up while they get ready an if DD and I goes PM we wake DH up when we got back to room.
NO 2 rooms is not possible. Nor is DD taking a friend along. 2 rooms even at Pop not in our budget. DH has always been totally against DD taking a friend to disney even if friends parents pays their way. He figures it's DD's time with us not with her friends.
Sorry so long just ramblin tryin to figure this stuff out. Thanks for hangin in here with me.
