Did anyone else notice that when the date said "This is the best day of my life", Amber got this disgusted look on her face and went, in that voice of hers, "This has been the BEST day of your LIFE?". It seemed like she was thinking "Wow, it's really pathetic that this guy thinks this is the best day of his life"...

Actually he told her that the day he met her at Walmart was the best day of his life. If meeting Amber was the best day of his life he must have a pretty sad life! She acted as if she thought it was odd but then she said it was kind of cute or something like that.

Farrah, she a mess she brings everything on her self. I don't blame her mom for everything bad in her life. I think Farrah needs to be more thankful that her parents are willing to help her and they are there for her. I think she needs to talk to Catlyn about what a crappy mother is.

Has anyone also noticed that Amber is barely happy about ANYTHING, and hardly ever has ANYTHING positive to say??? I really feel for Gary; he's apologizing for something that's not even his fault!!!

all farrah has is the dna proof of paternity to make an application for shopia's survivor benefits. unless sophia's dad worked enough quarters prior to his death she's not eligible to collect.

i thought it was interesting-farrah was telling derek's sister that when she gets the social security she's going to put it into a cd for sophia's college, but her mom (imho) was more realistic and said something about the couple of hundred a month helping to purchase diapers. despite the rocky relationship, i suspect mom/dad have to be providing some means of support-her apartment (cuz mom's extra house is still being remodeled), car expenses (insurance, gas...), and culinary school-let alone the expense of raising a child, are not something easily if even possibly accomplished on a part time pizza parlour job (and she made the comment at one point in time that her state subsidized childcare was being cut off because she of her income-so it's either mom/dad or mtv).

She said during the episode that she knew how much Sophia was getting so I assumed she was approved for the benefits if she knew the amount.

Why would her lawyer bother if she was not going to get any money? She had a very exact amount of $236, I don't think Farrah made that amount up. It would seem really silly if they did the last three episodes about this and she wasn't eligible.

i'm guessing farrah's lawyer is a legal aide lawyer (because of the way she talks of her financial situation), and legal aide lawyers instruct their clients to apply for any benefits to which they may POTENTIALY be eligible. at social services we had people come through the door on a daily basis who were misinformed by well meaning legal aide and private lawyers that they were "no problem" eligible to benefits. the social security office was behind our building, and the same people would walk into that building with the same well meaning misguided information. the lawyers were not trying to mislead people, they simply were not the eligibility staff who processed the actual applications and knew the regulations.

often times people would say that they "knew" they were eligible to a certain exact dollar amount-they sometimes got it from a friend who received social security or aide for the same number of children (but was in an entirely different legal circumstance), sometimes they got the figure off on-line benefit calculators.


it would be nice if sophia were eligible to some benefit, but given that her father died at age 19 it would be (in my experience) the exception rather than the rule that he paid enough quarters into social security for her to qualify.


it's entirely possible that mtv edited the shows before an official decision was/has been made by social security-it's not an overnight process (and i'm not sure but she might have had to take the dna results and submitted a request to amend sophia's birth certificate and then waited to get that to submit to social security which could have delayed it more). then there's also the possibility that what some of the tabloids are reporting is true-that farrah and mtv are realy trying to build on her storyline (and viewership) by virtue of bringing sophia's dad's family on camera-in which case, weather sophia was eligible to s.s. or not, farrah and mtv succeeded in getting at least 2 of his family members on camera (with at least one "will she or won't she show for the dna test?" episode).

Amber Portwood of MTV's Teen Mom went on a date with a guy named Chris, whom she met at a Wal Mart parking lot, and who seemed a bit "off" at the time.

Now we know why.

We're sure there are plenty of wonderful people in the Wal Mart parking lot, but it MAY not be the #1 hot spot to find that special someone.

She said how she picked up Gary in her 16 & Pregnant episode, I remember it! He was her brother's friend, and he called looking for her brother one day. Amber picked up the phone. And they started dating from there.

I wonder whatever happened to her brother. On 16 & Pregnant, he was in Iraq at the time. She never mentioned him again. Weird.
