Teen Mom

I thought tonight's episode was so good...

Here's my take on Farrah, honestly, I don't think her behavior is from being spoiled, it all stems from her mom, that woman is so CONTROLLING! She is even telling her she cannot mourn over Derek! I also remember her telling her on 16 and Pregnant "Farrah it is over, remember WE talked about this." I mean what is the harm in Farrah seeing Derek's sis? Honestly, I think it would be good for her and Sophia. Maybe she can get connected with his family and Sophia will have her dad's side of the family too, maybe Farrah will grow close to Derek's sister, I think it would be good if she had another young mom to talk to, and Sophia would have a cousin to play with. Her mom got me so mad when she said she had to compassion for Derek, wow, your cold! What could he have done that was so bad that you can't feel compassion for him, his parents, Farrah, and Sophia? :confused3 I think everything Farrah does is to rebel, she can't really handle her mom.

I completely agree with you about Farrah. I don't think she is as spoiled or conceited as she comes off as. I think her mother did a serious number on her, and Farrah is still learning to function like a healthy person.
I think Farrah's mother is suffering from some serious mental illness. She is very manipulative and controlling. She has a very flat affect and seems to have little empathy.

She is at least as bad a mother as Caitlyn's. In some ways I think Farrah's mother is worse. At least Caityln's mother has had some moments of genuineness and caring, and connected with Caityln in some way. I think Caityln's mother is in many ways the product of a hard life that was probably filled with very little guidance or positive role models. On the other hand Farrah's mother always seems distant. I think there is a much deeper problem with her, and it's led Farrah to be a confused and conflicted person.

Just when I think Amber can't get any worse, all I can say is wow. That guy seemed awfully excited to hear she had a child. I wonder what he is on work release for?

During the scene at the pool with Maci and Kyle, did anyone else notice it looks like Maci has a very large tattoo covering her back? Wonder what it is.

i'm no fan of farrah's mom, but i have to wonder if there's not a fear factor on her part about sophia interacting with baby daddy's (derek's) family. although the official cause of the car accident that killed derek and a friend was not determined to be alcohol related, derek's mom was later arrested and charged with purchasing alcohol for her son and his passengers when surveliance tapes from a liquor store showed her, the night of the accident, buying vodka for the 3 boys (all were under 21). the video tape showed her shopping and purchasing the vodka with the boys in the store, the vodka was found at the accident scence, and the autopsy on derek (who was the driver) showed alcohol in his blood system.

given the dynamics of farrah's relationship with her mom, if i were mom i would not be entirely supportive of encouraging a relationship with the other grandmother for fear if farrah went off on one of her hissie fits she might go using the other grandma as her new free childcare provider (her track record of responsible parenting is not one i would feel comfortable with).
Can you post a link to the articles? I love reading the background tidbits and finding out the "real" dirt as opposed to the way MTV stages it.

It was actually the other passengers mother who was charged with buying them the alcohol not Derek's mother.

"Zachary Mendoza’s mother Jackie Kennedy was seen on surveillance cameras purchasing a bottle of Skyy vodka found at the scene of the crime and although it was determined Derek had been drinking, his blood alcohol was below the legal limit. For that reason Kennedy was only charged with a misdemeanor count of supplying alcohol to a minor."

Amber's date....made my skin crawl. She picked him up...let the grossness begin. Work release-run as fast as you can in the opposite direction!! Saying that meeting her was the best day of his life :scared1: That Amber is perfect....boy he needs to get out and live a little :rotfl: She is a huge mess & I hope that Gary can take Leah until Amber wises up.

I personally don't enjoy Farrah or her mother, but I can see where the mom is coming from. We as viewers don't know anything about Derek, what he was like or what his family is like. They could be the perfect family or they could be a total nightmare. For all we know he could have been abusive, a drug addict, his family could be abusive and shady, OR they could be supportive, perfect and wonderful. I personally tend to think they aren't too great because if my son had passed and I knew I had a grandchild out there I would be sitting outside their front door every day, filing papers in court for visitation etc. doing everything in my power to keep in contact with that child. We are only seeing a small slice of their life, so I am trying to withold judgement on this one.

Yes, he was just telling her what he thought she wanted to hear so he could get something out of her, ilk, he was so gross, and how could she even kiss him, maybe I am a prude, but I feel like she hasn't officially ended it with Gary, and personally I feel its too soon to begin dating, I think she just really needs to focus on Leah, and being a good mommy. It just annoyed me everytime when she said "as a mom...." ugh, I really do want to see how she handles everything without Gary though, b/c he is obviously the one who did the majority of the parenting.

Yes, I have to agree, I have wondered why Derek's parents were not trying to see their grandchild, to me its odd. Maybe they have been in denial that he could possibly had been a father? IDK, but I agree with you, if I was Derek's parents I would be doing everything possible to get to see that baby. Maybe they are messed up and the sister is normal and doesn't even associate with her parents?
I wonder if we'll find out more during the reunion show.

something that bothers me every time about amber is that everytime they show her in the apt she is lying in her bed and the apt looks like a pig sty...even without leah being there the apt still looked disgusting.

as far as catelynn goes(i really dont like her at all) i am so sick of hearing about carly....look you gave her up for a reason...get over it already. i'm sorry if i'm being mean about this but i absolutely cant stand any of her segments..even though i do feel sorry for her in regards to her nasty mother...i cant stand her braces and tylers sideways hat.

I can't really feel sorry for Gary. Why is he going to the floral shop buying flowers for Amber, after she attacked him like that?! And at the same time he's purchasing them, she calls fussing and cussing him out! Yet he still puts in the order and wants them delivered the next day.

i think hes so desperate to have a girlfriend that he will put up with all the abuse she's giving him. another idiot in this world.

You can't be a doormat unless you lay down and let someone walk all over you. Gary allow Amber to treat him that way so she won't ever change.

I do feel sorry for Caitlynn and her dysfunctional relationship with her Mom. She acts like she really wants a good relationship with her Mom but the Mom needs to grow up. Sad when the child is more mature than the parent.

I would have been like, can I cancel that?

What I love about Tyler and Cailyn being ont he show, is that it shows teens that even though you have given a child up for adoption, you have not taken "the easy way out" and how hard it may be to adjust afterwards. Even though Tyler and Caitlyn don't have a baby to raise, they are still parents and they take their role very seriously. They want to be involved in Carly's life as much as they can, and want to share with her in the future. They also serve as a role model to Carly, as what not to do when she gets older and how even though giving a child up for adoption seems easy, it is a difficult choice to make and live with. Even though Carly is in a good home, who knows what her life will be like 14/15 years down the road.

And I love Tyler to pieces. He has his moments of immaturity (due to age) but since they appeared on 16 and Pregnant, he has been a stand-up guy. Do I consider the anger he went through over Caitlyn talking to her ex to be bad, no. If you have watched him evolve, he had difficulty at first identifying and speakign what he was feeling. This season, I have seen growth in Tyler expressing his emotions.

Also Caitlyn and Tyler could have easily gone through the pregnancy and once they gave Carly up for adoption, they could have broken up or else Tyler could have felt "Yay! I'm off the hook." but instead he and Caitlyn seem in it for the long haul, and he tries to stay involved in his daughter's life. Tyler is a role model for teen guys everywhere as to how to act and be. I think it is important for the show to display a responsible teen dad's perspective (even though Tyler doesn't have a child to raise).

Right on! They most certainly do belong on this show.

Why??? Because Amber is probably the only girl that ever gave him a second look. I don't think Gary has a lot of girls beating down his door...do you???

Amber~ She is such a piece of work. She picked up a guy at Walmart and then goes out with him to find out he has been/is (not sure) in jail and does a work-release, creepy. He gave me the creeps. Gary needs to get Leah and keep her away from the crazy men her mother is going to pick up.

Maci~ I felt so bad that she and Kyle broke up but I saw it coming as soon as she moved there. He was not ready to have Maci and Bentley near him all the time.

Catelynn~ I am glad that she and Tyler are getting to go and see Carly. i think it will be good for them and keep them on thei path to graduate and go to college. I just hope that Catelynn can get out of her sitatuation.

Farrah~ I felt really bad for her last night. It is obvious that she is still having trouble dealing with Derek's death and her mother not allowing her to grieve is just wrong. I am happy that she was able to get Sophia her benefits and even $200 some dollars will help.

Amber- A pig and a bad mom. Gary is just trying to stay connected so he can continue being paid by MTV.

Maci- Poor kid. She's a pretty good mom, but she should just move back home so Bentley can be near all of his grandparents.

Catelynn- Her storyline is boring. We're done with it. She is in people magazine without her braces, which looks nice, but nothing can be done about that unfortunate forehead she inherited from her mom.

Farrah- Dumb as a rock and whiney, but very pretty. She should get it over with and pose for Playboy and make some money.

Has anyone noticed, they are driving similar cars. Do they have a sponsor?

Ok. Is anybody else out there as irritated at Kyle as I am. Yes we all saw it comming a mile away BUT she asked him, on several different occasions too I might add, if he was ready for this. His response every stinkin time was YES. I do not think that if he would have said just one time 'I think this may be going a little to fast for me' would Maci have moved. Vent over.

Yep. :headache:
