Teen Boy Christmas Ideas

my son would die to be anyone of your sons lol! he received an Xbox last year and one of my DD's boyfriends got him halo ( not sure which # ).
he got a cell phone out of necessity but not for christmas. He has a postage size shuffle and a code to play mine craft on his sister's computer. This year for christmas i have no idea what to get him.... oh he is 16, he doesn't know what he wants either. Might get him an ipod

My 17 year old son asked for Twilight Woods cologne from Bath and Body Works.

I'm also planning on an itunes gift card and a game stop gift card.

My son is getting some new headphones, a game he wants & a CD he wants as well. Maybe a giftcard too. The game is very expensive & our budget isn't what it was in years past so its won't be as full of a Christmas but I'm trying reallly hard to get everyone some things they want.

We have a 16 year old DS. We are taking a 10 day trip at Christmas in lieu of a traditional holiday at home (his idea too....how sweet was that?).

He worked full time all summer at our local YMCA (earning over $4300 over his summer break), and still works between 10 and 15 hours a week on average throughout the school year. Even with saving 50% of his earnings, he has tons of disposable income so there's very little he wants or needs. That's why he asked if we could have a getaway instead.

He has a laptop, a brand new flatscreen TV for his room, an iPod, a PS3, enough clothes to outfit 10 teenagers, and he's upgrading his new Blackberry Bold (which is only 10 months old :scared:) to an iPhone with his own money within the next few weeks.... he truly wants for nothing. But that's one of the benefits of being an only child too.

His birthday is 3 weeks after Christmas. I have no idea what we will get him :crazy2: . I am thinking maybe some Beats......but its not something his asked for.

I'm getting my 14 year old son an iPod Touch and accessories for it (armband for running, earbuds, ect). He will probably also get an iTunes card, maybe a subscription to Gamefly, he has always wanted that. Xbox points. Detroit Sports teams apparel.

Last year I got him a custom Detroit Tigers jersey with his name and sports number on the back, he loved that (just an suggestion for any of you looking for a new idea) you can find them on M L B dot com.

Other than that, I'm a little stumped. I probably won't get him much more since he is getting a Disney trip with the school band this year.

DS16 is not getting any 1 big gift as there is really nothing that he does not have. Instead he will be getting accessories for those items and gift cards

- new release video games for PS3 and 360
- gaming headphones
- pair of beats for iPod touch and Kindle Fire
- Amazon g.c. for Fire
- Hollister/American Eagle gift cards
- some cash

He wanted a North Face jacket but I just found 1 at a great price so he already has that.

New ipod case
colored (red) charger set for ipod
different colors of Nike elite socks (my son wears them everyday)
ping pong table

Ooh, a ping pong table, my DS15 would love that, I wonder if I have room for one...

You say you're having a hard time shopping for him, but yet the things he's asked for, you're unceremoniously dismissing... this doesn't make sense.

Can you get him perhaps a gift certificate to a specialty shop that would have the scooter parts he's after? Sounds as though you aren't familiar enough with the specifics to actually buy the items for him... I wouldn't know either :)

The xBox live card may be boring, but makes a great stocking stuff, and if it's something he'll enjoy, maybe that's not so bad.

Though you quickly dismissed Madden 13 on the basis of already having a madden game, why not consider it anyway? I get the sense he's fairly into sports... many of the sports titles that are released yearly are actually enjoyed by some sports fans, as they include updated rosters, scheduling rules, and the like, as well as incremental improvements to the gameplay itself.

Anyway, I'd start there... may not be exciting gifts to you... but sounds like they're pretty exciting to him!

I had to think about it but, yes, you are right. I was dismissing everything he was interested in. I've decided to just get him what make him happy. I ordered the Madden 13 game, my mom is getting him the xbox live card and I am ordering the Manning jersey for him as well.

He also mentioned yesterday that he'd like a pair of beats headphones. Not sure I can get those but I'm looking into the Monster ones (they are only $89 compared to $200+).

So it's a start. And he will be thrilled with those things! Now, I need to figure out these scooter parts he wants. We like to order through amazon so I might need him to show me what they are on the website.

Thanks for your upfront opinion. You were right and I want to give my kids what they love- so I needed to hear that. :)

you could get him to make a wishlist on Amazon and that way he is marking what he wants, but still doesn't know what you order so it would be a surprise

My ds(16) is saving for a car so all he wants is money. The trick is how to give it in a fun way...

As you see from my siggy I have teen boys. Even the young ones act older, obviously. My kids have never asked for much, even bdays and Christmas. So what is everyone else getting their teen boys?

I haven't read the other posts, but my SIL has five boys ranging from 9 years of age to 18 and I just asked her what the boys would like for Christmas.

Her reply was anything from Under Armour and Nike Black Basketball Socks.

Hope that helps.

Just a suggestion for those of you considering the Beats by Dr. Dre, do your homework. Yes, the sound quality is amazing but the actual "quality" of the product is pathetic considering the cost. My DS has several friends that own several different styles. All but but one has had major issues with them. We are a Bose family and own several products from this company. My son decided that he would go with the Bose earbuds instead of the Beats because of his friends. He has had them for about a year now and they are incredible! They have gone through the wash twice and they STILL work. (Son was not very popular with us when this happened) I will also tell you from our own experience, Bose has wonderful customer service. I just wanted to let parents have a little more knowledge before spending a couple hundred dollars on these. Again, great sound but overall quality may be a disappointment.

Thanks for posting this. My kids want headsets for Christmas. I did not want to pay a lot, but I want to get a good set. Thanks again!

Glad it helped, and also glad that you took my advice in exactly the same spirit it was intended. (Was worried it may have come across wrong.)

I just bought the $50. I tunes card for $40. at Best Buy.com with free shipping! Think that will be a great gift for ds 15!:cheer2:

Ok-let me try again. Just deleted my post .

My boys(16,14) have everything they could need or want. DH has an A/V bus , so we have all the tech toys that boys/men like. The older they get, the list gets smaller and the cost gets bigger.

DS14 wants a Alienware desktop pc. He's big into gaming and has been asking for this for a while. It is all he wants.

DS16 would love a car, but we said not ntil he hits 17, so a 9mm glock, weights and bench and new skates.

These are big ticket items, so ouch! for the money. We don't usually spend this much on the gifts but they have been asking for the same items for a while. The only thing I thnk for sure is upgrading our phones, but really I was going to do it anyway. One has a broken screen, one camera doesn't work right on it.

We always get the pjs, small stuff for stockings like a laser pen, pocket knife, earbuds... and of course candy, chocolate.

My ds14 has a Wii, ipad, ipod touch, iphone, laptop -- I don't really think he needs anything else electronic, and he's not asking for it.

The one thing he's said he wants so far is Dr. Who memorabilia, which I will reluctantly order from the UK through Amazon if I can't find enough of it at Newbury Comics. He's also getting a stadium blanket from his school, itunes and other gift cards, and whatever strikes my DH's fancy during the last two weeks before Christmas -- because there's always something :rolleyes1

If there's a Broadway show (in Boston where we live, not going to NYC) that looks good early in the new year he will probably get tickets. We are taking him to see John Oliver of The Daily Show fame next month, and he's getting Lady Gaga tickets for his birthday early next year. I like to get him experiences now, rather than buying stuff that will just sit on a shelf.

Love all the ideas, these are making me think of other things -- so please keep them coming! :hyper:
