Can anyone who has traveled to Aulani with teens share details of what kinds of special teen get togethers Aulani offers? Do cast members run the events and involve all the teens? I know there are ukulele and lei lessons.

I have been watching the guides and there seems to be scavenger hunts and some specific exercise classes as well.... but we go in July

I've also read conflicting posts on these boards, do we have to sign the teens up for anything, or can they just show up when they feel like it? I thought they could just show up, but I read somewhere on here that they had to be registered like the kids do, but I don't think that's correct.

My DD has done the activities now on two trips. The first she had just turned 13 and when she finally got up the courage to go, she wished she had gone earlier. This past December she checked out the schedule first thing!

In December. No reservation. Just show up. Cast members run it. She had Uncle at one activity and the same cast members who do the pool parties and family activities. Lei making, character drawing, beach activities, scavenger hunt, etc. Each time she met a couple of kids she was able to meet up with at other times too.

She's also done the teen massage which she highly recommends::yes::

How many hours per day to they have activities specifically for teens? Im thinking of going, but my daughter will soon be 13, which will age her out of the childrens program. Is there a specific program just for teens, like on cruiseships ex: 13 - 15 ??

Great information - but I am so new to this "Aulani" planning thing for our very first trip to Hawaii - so I am curious as to where they "go"? Is it the same place as the little kids (Aunty's?) or is there a teen hangout place?

I am just starting my research into our trip, so please forgive me if I am asking silly questions! :)

No Problem at all. They mostly met in the Community Room. There were activities on the beach and in the teen spa as well.

I haven't experienced DCL with a teen yet, so I can't compare. I believe 'teen' is considered under 18 at Aulani.

If you go to the Aulani website under activities you can choose the Daily Iwa to get an idea of the type and times for teen activities. The resort hand out has better descriptions. Which might be on the site as well but I didn't search.
