I am running out of space on my hard drive. I need another hard drive to move some of my things to. Is there any advice on a good one to go with my Macbook Pro? I am thinking at least 2 TB.

TIA,

Kim

I usually get my replacement drives from OWC computer. My usual routine is to buy their drive package that includes an external case for the old drive. First, put the new drive in the case, formant and backup your computer to it. Then swap the drives out and you should be ready to go.

Are you referring to just an external drive, since you are talking about moving "some things"?

My first choice is usually a Seagate brand. The Freeagent Pro models have done well for me. I've got one of those that has run near-continuously (beyond idle-time spindowns) for several years on my website server, and an older model running for even longer on my home server, both as backup drives that are written to at least daily.

We've used the Western Digital "Book" series as well, but they just feel a bit cheaper. Can't recall any particular issues with them though.

I have a 3TB Western Digital and am very happy with it. Simple to format for Mac. I think I paid $160 on sale at Best Buy with free shipping.
