We have a brand new Macbook computer.

On my iPod I have my whole iTunes library. Mostly podcasts, some purchased music, some music copied from my CDs.

How do I get everything from my iPod to the new computer? It does not seem as simple as I thought it would be.

I would take it the the geniuses at the Apple store, but the nearest one is an hour and a half away.

Any help is gratefully appreciated.

I have a bad feeling you cant. I could be wrong but I think IPODS only work oneway. You need to move everything from your old computer to your new and then sync you new IPOD.

Ah... That could be the problem.

First came the new iPad. It needed iTunes v.10. Somehow v.10 would not install without uninstalling v.9. And now we can't get any version on iTunes on the old computer. It was an old computer in need of replacement, thus the new MacBook.

Troublesome, eh?

There are actually lots of programs that allow you to use your ipod as a hard drive and then transfer the information to a computer. The one I bought a few years ago when I got a new laptop was called copytrans, it was about $20 and worked great. Basically you download the program onto the new computer, then plug in the ipod and it gave the option to copy all to itunes or just select playlists. I would just google "copy ipod to new mac" and see your options, read the reviews and pick one that sounds good to you.

I recommend CopyTrans also -worked great. Quite simple.

No, it can be done. My computer crashed & I lost everything. I had to reinstall Itunes. I was able to move everything from my pod to my hard drive. Don't ask me how,;) but I did it.

I've used a free program called Senuti (iTunes in reverse). I was able to move all content as well as playlists...

awww I wished I knew this before I will have to try it today.
