Team Rosters For 2009 - Now Recruiting!

Welcome, Sarah! Wow! You're speedy! :cool1: So glad you met some WISHers and have come to join us!

I've put you with Walt's Warriors. There's several west coasters in that group and some that will rant and rave with ya! :teeth: I'm sure you'll find lots of great support and encouragement with this group.

Oh, and by the way, there are several of us going to participate in the Seattle Rock 'n Roll half as well. Maybe you can give us some tips as to where to stay. :thumbsup2 I'm sure we'll be getting together at some point outside of the race and would love to have you join us! I'm looking forward to meeting you there!

Thanks a lot for placing me and for all your time put in monitoring and responding to this thread! :worship:

And I'll have to keep paying attention as we get closer to the Seattle Rock and Roll - I'd love to meet up with some of you WISHers here in the rainy (or sleety today, as it may be) city!

Hi Jack! Welcome to the WISH teams!

I thought the same thing when I trained for my first half and full. Why not do it at the happiest place on earth? :teeth:

I put you with Team Hakuna Matata. Great bunch of folks that will motivate you and support you through your ups and downs with the training. Hopefully, you'll have all ups! :thumbsup2 See you at the marathon next year!

Thanks! I've been reading their thread, very impressive bunch. I share the Hakuna Matata philosophy, I hope I can keep up with them...... :yay:

I'm a displaced Herc. Could you please put me on a team?

Thanks so much!

Hi Angela! I'm going to add you to our newest team, Rebel Alliance! I don't think it will be long before the team fills up once Dave puts the word out that we're recruiting. :cool1: :thumbsup2

I'm going to be in your neck of the woods in a couple of weeks. I'm going to sign up for the Gasparillo half. I wanted to do the 15K but in order to get the good airfare, I had to arrive on Saturday. Now, how's that for determining which race to do. Ha!

I also see you are going to do a marathon in ROME! I LOVE Rome. I'm sure you'll have a blast. One of my goals is to do a half (or maybe a full) overseas. The only things preventing me from doing one now are $$$, time and finding one during school vacations. :teeth:

I'd like to join a team. Am I too late? What information do I need to provide and can someone direct me to a thread that explains how the teams work?

ETA: I just read through this thread and figured I should add some information about myself to help you place me on a team.

I just did my first WDW race in January (the half). I had a great time, but did it alone and would have loved to have been part of a WISH team. The WDW half was my 4th long distance race. I've also done:
San Francisco Half in July 2007
Army 10-miler in October 2008
Big Sur Half Marathon in November 2008

This is how I describe my running/exercising self. I'm not (YET!!!) a dedicated runner, but I LOVE doing races. I know that makes absolutely no sense but I run because I like the events, not the other way around. I'm working on that though and I'm hoping that this is the year that I actually become a RUNNER. I use the Jeff Galloway method and walk-run my races. I ran 3 minutes/walked 1 minute to get through the WDW half and it worked out well for me. I go to the gym 3 times a week and do BodyPump (group weightlifting class) twice a week and I spin once a week. I'm trying to increase my gym workouts this year too.

We are a military family and we are moving overseas this summer, to Austria. I'm not committed to any races right now, because our moving schedule will be hectic, but I would like to squeeze something in before we move. If I can make arrangements, I may run the Nutmeg State Half Marathon (CT) in April, but I haven't committed yet. My current long term goal is to run the Vienna FULL marathon in April 2010. I hope I can make that happen and that's the big goal I want to work on this year!

I'm not sure if I should request a team or not, but if so, can I be on the Ohana team?

I just saw that you're from Seattle.. I'm from Everett.. just wanted to say hi :yay:

I was on Super Goofs last year, but was a terrible team member and slacked a lot with posting :guilty: :sad2: (in my defense, life was nuts!) I'm back and ready to start training for the 2010 half and would love to be on any team that needs me or wants me :goodvibes

I am a very new walker/wanna be runner. Can I join in?

Laura

Welcome Laura! I was in the same place as you last year....a walker who wanted to be a runner. I'm now a part time runner, but still mostly a walker. If I can do it, so can you. This place is a source of great encouragement!:cheer2:

:yay: Hi back! Are you planning to do any races in the area this year? We briefly considered the Whidbey Island half marathon this week, but that died once we realized that the half marathon course doesn't go over the Deception Point Bridge. I mean, really, what's the point? :lmao:

Yeah, not much of a point if it doesn't go over the pass! :lmao:
I'm signed up for the Rain man tri at Greenlake on March 1st, then the Big stair Climb (up the BofA tower) on the 22nd of March... those are my only sign ups so far :goodvibes
What about you?

Hey Susie-
I'm ready to be placed on a team. I've made so many friends on the Lean Meaners thread in the past year and now I'm branching out. I'll be happy to be on any team. I ran the 1/2 this year and am currently thinking about running another 1/2 in April. So place me where you will and I hope they'll keep me accountable:goodvibes . Thanks.

I had to look up the Rain Man tri and it looks like a lot of fun! I'm very intrigued about the indoor bike concept.

We're only signed up for the Rock and Roll half marathon in June, so far. We do have to sign up for at least one more (not that that will be hard) event this year, however, since we have a comped entry from Pro Motion Events from the shambles that was the cancellation of the 12K's of Christmas in Kirkland in December. But that's it so far. Need to work on that.

Hi Laura! Welcome to the WISH Teams! I put you with our newest team, the Rebel Alliance! Although the team is small for now, it will quickly grow as more people join the fun. I'm sure you'll find good support as you transition from being a walker to a runner. Have fun!

Hi Tracey! I've added you to our newest team - Rebel Alliance! I'm sure it will fill up quickly as more people join the fun. Which half are you considering doing in April? Is it CMM - Nashville by chance? :teeth: There are quite a few DISers doing that one. We'd love to see you there!

Thanks Susie.
I'll pop in on the thread and say, "hi"! I'm planning to stay local and run the Go! St. Louis 1/2, but someday I'd love to do the CMM one. It looks like so much fun.:)

I'll go check out the team thread now. :)

I am a former member of the now defunct Herc's Heroes. Can I be placed on a new team? I need some motivation and accountability!

Allyson :)
