You've come to the right place! The WISH board is an excellent way to meet other runners, walkers, cyclists, etc. Be sure to visit the main weekly thread, Week of Feb 1 - WISH Team Walkers and Runners for great support and to get to know many of the WISHers. Also, be sure to visit Welcome to the WISH team for further information on the WISH Team in general.Hello! Please forgive me in advance for my lack of knowledge about the WISH boards. I've been a DIS'er for a few years now, but am rather new to the WISH boards. The DH and I are trying to get into running this year, and plan on running a couple of 5K's to start with. I would love to find out what the teams are all about...it sounds fun!

Because there are so many of us now, some people get kind of "lost" in the main thread and board in general. The smaller teams offer another way to get to know other WISHers and to offer and get encouragement and support while training for a new event or just exercising in general. The team members range from beginners to experts. All are welcome!
One thing that the teams do is keep track of total overall hours and miles of its members each month. If you would like to post how much time you spent exercising/training and how many miles you ran/walked/cycled, etc., your attempts will be added to the team total. However, it is NOT necessary that you do so as some team members are there to act as "cheerleaders" or offer support in other ways.
Does this sound like something you and your DH would like to participate in? If so, let me know and I'll be happy to add you to a team.![]()
Thanks so much, Susie for all the info...it was a great help! Now I understand!I would love to be part of a team...my DH doesn't post, so I think I'll just try and post my results if that's okay. We do this on a weekly basis, right? I could surely use some encouragement, and would even pass it on to the DH as well! Thanks a bunch!
Hey Susie...I posted on the Super Goofs thread but I see you've been really busy!! I have a friend who is new to the DIS and WISH and is very interested in joining a team. She did the 1/2 and is signing up for the ESPN 5K. She would love to be a Goof if there is room. Her name is Nicole from FL, I think she told me her DIS name is disnik. Let me know!! BTW, you rock!!!!![]()
Sorry I'm just now getting back to you UGAFan! Workload has been a killer. It's cutting into my fun!
I'm going to put you with the triple D's - Donald's Defiant Dashers. I think you'll find it to be a lively group with lots of support. Maybe Ahoff will bring back some chocolates to give to his fellow teammates the next time he goes to Switzerland!![]()
I also want to let you know that your DH is welcome to join the team even though he might not post. My DH is on my team but he doesn't post. However, I can record his miles/hours to help boost your team total.Just let me know if you want me to add him.
Is there anyone out there that wants me???![]()
Thanks so much! Everyone here is wonderful!!
Yeah, go ahead and add the DH too, especially if it helps the team out. That way I can tell him that he's part of the DIS Wish Team!!![]()
Another newbie here.![]()
I would like to join a team as well. My name is Nicole. I'm 26 and from the St. Louis area (although I'm on the Illinois side).
My goal is the Half Marathon in January![]()

I still don't know Who Framed Jessica's Rabbits but I'm another bunny in search of a new home! I really enjoyed the team atmosphere and would like to join another team.
I usually run 15-20 miles per week and bike another 50-60.

Hello, I'd like to try joining a team. I completed my first 1/2 in January and have 3 more planned for this year including the Princess and the Disneyland 1/2. I'm thinking about the WDW Marathon next Janaury but haven't fully committed yet. I'm a runner and live in Arizona. I look forward to getting to know the other people on my new team. Thanks!

I'd really like to join a team this year! I was a bit intimidated by all you WISH folks last year when I was training for the half marathon, but I met a few of you nice people while waiting around at the start of the race, and have decided to sign up!
I finished the half marathon last month in 2:29 and had a great time doing it.... except for that silly banked overpass around mile 11!It was my first real race, and how I'm addicted! My goal for the half was 2:30, and I managed to beat that by 27 seconds!
Once we'd regained the ability to walk around the Magic Kingdom without hobbling (by about 8:00 that evening), we made the decision to do the full marathon in 2010! I'm really excited about this challenge; it felt so great to do the half, but we had a bit of Mickey Medal Envy the next day. I really want to finish in 5 hours, but we'll see how that goal changes as my distances increase while training. I'm also planning on running the Rock and Roll Seattle half marathon in late June, which I hope to do in less than 2:15.
So, I'd love to join a team if y'all wouldn't mind having me! I'm really looking forward to having people to rant and rave about training with, so that my friends and co-workers aren't totally tired of me again by Christmas!
