Team Renfroe's 2nd Trip Report - 1,500 pictures, dining reviews, and DISmeets!

Love the food reports. Le Cellier is on our list for next trip. Has is not rained yet? I was just thinking what a laid back guy. He has not complained about the rain once. Maybe it hasn't started yet:confused3

Le Cellier is the meal that DH is looking forward to the most this trip. The more I read about it, I am getting excited myself! Would you say the soup is a must? I was considering salad, but it looks pretty good...just really filling!

Yummmmm LeCellier!!!!!!! I was one of the very few people that did not like the Cheese Soup, but I pretty much expected that because I'm not a big cheese fan, I only like it paired with certain foods-like a chili cheese dog. ;) BUT, Joe and Henry (who I will say are more normal than myself!) LOVED it. And we all mowed on that delish bread! The chicken chipotle looks really good, I'll have to remember that if we ever get back to LeCellier.

Another great update! Le Cellier looks wonderful. I want to try it for lunch, since I've already done dinner. Also, those hot dogs look great. To bad I live to far away! One thing about the green shirts. Last week at my DS's Bible school, a girl was wearing a lime green shirt. My first thought was of your Dis meet and wondering if it was one of your shirts! ;) Can't wait for the next update! popcorn::

Hey, Magic Shell, where do you live in North MS if you don't mind my asking? My son lives in Indianola (and has my two granddaughters hostage!) and works for Mississippi State. He travels all over the state with his job.

I live in Independence. I am sure you have not heard of that, but it is about 15 miles south of Olive Branch, if you have heard of that. My mom would like the way you describe your granddaughters being held hostage.:rotfl: My parents live in Louisiana so they probably think the same way.

I enjoyed you lunch update. I hope you all shared the good stuff with Will.;) Too bad his appetizer wasn't very good. If it is that cozy in there, I would fall asleep.

Hi Alan,

I'm enjoying your trip report! We can't wait for our trip in October! Just wanted to mention that you should consider adding a "Pittsburgh Dawg" (french fries and cole slaw for toppings) to your menu. Those hot dogs look fantastic. Good luck with the restaurant!

omg.. thank you for the pics of the soup! not at all what I thought it looked like.. looks much more appetizing than I had pictured in my head!

Catching up on your current trip report, which is turning out to be as fabulous as last years. I LOVE the mushroom filet and the cheese soup at Le Cellier. I am drooling over your pics now!! Can't wait to read more.

Melissa

Loved the Hot Dogs and the LeCellier update. That cheese soup looks so yummy. Can't wait until you get to the May meet...popcorn::

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Le Cellier Cheese soup Yummmmmmmmmmmmmy!!!
We have eaten there twice and we're going back this year! Hot dogs look yummy too!:thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear about the Dismeet.:goodvibes

I kept checking the first page with the chapter links and thought you weren't updating this anymore. Guess I was wrong, LOL. I've got to get caught up!

Great review Alan !! I told you I waswaiting and look who is first!!!

Yep, you were first! Sorry I'm taking so long in between postings. I'm working throughout the day at my job then going up to the restaurant and working until about 11pm every night. We hope to open the restaurant next weekend! After that, things should slow down a little bit....at least enough to get back to my report regularly.

YUM YUM YUM!!! Do you think I can get that for breakfast this morning? LOVE the Moose and the filet was the best piece of meat I have ever had!!!

I know, right? I was wishing I had a bowl of that soup for lunch today.

Oh, I am even more hungry now. :lmao: That seafood salad doesn't look very good, I couldn't even really tell what it was. I have to say Le Cellier is one of my favorite places to eat at Disney. I think it's second after Hollywood Brown Derby. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I don't know what was up with that seafood salad. It was a bad dish in a sea of good dishes. If you see this on the Le Cellier menu, remind yourself to PASS.

Oh, I am going to miss that soup not going this year. Oldest DS is at Disney now and I was able to snag a last minute ADR at LeCellier and told him he HAD to have the soup. We'll see if he listens to his mom. ;)

I know, I know. I miss the soup already. I agree - the soup is A MUST!

Le Cellier looks SO delicious. I do not have it in my plans for my upcoming trip and now I'm regretting it. :sad2: I am a big fan of the cheese soup too and that chocolate cake = :cloud9:

Oh and glad the plans for your new restaurant are going well. I'm not a hot dog eater but all those pictures and different varieties of hot dogs look cool. I just read somewhere that one of the finalists in the Next Foodnetwork Star is opening a hot dog restaurant in LA. Sounds like you've started a new trend! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Christine. The plans are going well....just time is getting away from us! I would never admit to biting off more than I can chew, but life is definitely pretty crazy right now.

Great review of Le Cellier!! Now the meet right??????

The meet.....after our Kim Possible Mission and stroll through the World Showcase.

Alan,

I'll come out of lurkdom too, and tell you how much I enjoy your trip reports. Quick question - what is served with the chicken chipotle sausage? It looks like greens of some kind underneath. Is there sauce or something?

YAY!!! I LOVE it when people come out of lurkdom! Welcome to this happy place! The Chicken Chipotle sausage is actually served over polenta, which is fantastic. The spicyness of the chicken is offset by the polenta, making a very appetizing dish. LOVE it!

Yummm!! Looks so good!!! I was looking at the menu a couple of days ago and was having a lot of trouble trying to decide on an appetizer batween the soup and the chicken/sausage. Since I'll be there during food and wine I don't know if I'll be hungry enough for either one though...lol

What really sounds good, is one of your hot dogs, yummmm.

LOL!! Thanks, SunnieRN! I loves me some hot dogs!

Oh, that's a tough one. The soup is one of my favorites EVER, but the chicken sausage is really great also. I know it doesn't help you much, but I got the soup last year and ordered it again this year. Of course, Elizabeth ordered the chicken sausage last year and ordered it again this year! So we both obviously loved our orders from the previous year!

Hi Alan,

Getting up to date!! Those Hot Dogs look really cool!! I think that the Deep South is the one more akin to the ones people like to eat here in Venezuela...

Wonderful review of The Cellier, it looks really nice and cozy, my kind of place!!. Also, nice photos of your family. The kids are growing by leaps and bounds. Wil looks a really cool kid and Juliana looks prettier in every new picture. BTW, Please tell her that I like her MS Cap a lot!!

Regards,

Luis

P.S. I think you should begin to think of having a "black list" of guests. I just saw this on CNN:
http://edition.cnn.com/2009/US/07/04/nathans.hot.dog.eating.contest/index.html
:)

Hey Luis! Hope all is well with you and your family! Those kids ARE growing aren't they? I wish we could just bottle up this time in our lives and keep them forever. I'll have to tell Wil what a cool kid he is and Juliana what a beautiful girl she is, compliments of you! (Of course they are used to hearing it from me.)

Thanks for the link! I'll check it out.

So glad that you are so within 2 hours driving distance. If you could, please post your restaurant address so I can mapquest it. Or if you would rather PM that info, that would be great. Can't wait to try it out.

No problem, reelmom. In fact, we are working on our web site. It will be bfdawgs.com and we'll be located at 405 Pelham Rd. South in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Hi Alan,
Long time lurker ... read your TR last year and have been aboard this year. Decided I needed to start coming out (from lurking that is!). Loved LC too, we ate there in 2007 and had the filet & soup too! Your pics, well it just makes me want to go to DW NOW!

Podsnel... got the Seinfeld refernce right away. We are HUGE Seinfeld lovers!

So, Alan, let's hear about the DISmeet.
Janet

 YAY!!! Another lurker out of lurkdom!!! (I don't know why I get so excited about that....but I do!!)

Oh, and we are HUGE Seinfeld fans! Podsnel is pretty darn cool, as you will read in my report about the DISmeet!

Thanks for posting, Janet! And welcome anytime!

Hey Alan,

I am very much enjoying your TR! My DD who is 14 turned me on to it-she thought your family seemed very nice and thought I'd enjoy your report...:lmao:-(She's right-your family seems lovely and your kids seem like they'd be a pleasure to be around...:thumbsup2)

(she also recommend your previous TR-so I'll have to go back and check that out as well...:surfweb:-she is getting excited since we are going back in 1 1/2 months...)

I'd never thought of the CSR-but it looks very pretty in your photos...love the look of the rooms and the pool...

Fantastic review of the Flying Fish-I was only there once but I loved it :thumbsup2-we aren't going there this time :confused3 but are going to Jiko :goodvibes...Haven't made it to Le Cellier-but I guess there is always a future trip...

Looking forward to more report...popcorn::

I'm glad your 14 yr old daughter got you to read our report! Welcome! And thanks for the wonderful comments about my family.

We loved CSR last year BEFORE the upgrade....but this year was even better! There's a lot to be said about having queen-sized beds, especially for a BFM (that's Big Friendly Man) like me.

We loved Flying Fish so much that it is now on our "must do" list. Le Cellier is also a great value if you are on the Dining Plan....it is like getting a 2TS meal for the price of 1TS credit.

Thanks again for posting, and let your daughter know we appreciate her kind comments!

Glad you had a good meal at Le Cellier, the moose is so adorable :goodvibes

Loved the meal. Loved the moose. Love Canada!

Us too! Best show ever!!

And yes, Alan, let's hear bout the DISmeet!!!!

Yep, best show ever....hands down.

Oh, and the meet is coming...just you wait! We've got 1.5 trillion pictures of this motley crew!

Love the food reports. Le Cellier is on our list for next trip. Has is not rained yet? I was just thinking what a laid back guy. He has not complained about the rain once. Maybe it hasn't started yet:confused3

Can you believe it? The weather man had been saying it was going to rain every single day....but as of yet, it had not rained a drop. In fact, the hot was dreadfully and painfully hot on this particular afternoon. No rain....yet.

Le Cellier is the meal that DH is looking forward to the most this trip. The more I read about it, I am getting excited myself! Would you say the soup is a must? I was considering salad, but it looks pretty good...just really filling!

Your DH will NOT be disappointed if he is a steak lover. I could just sit back and eat the pretzel bread and drink Moosehead all day! And yes.....let me Scream it.....THE SOUP IS A MUST!!! SOOO GOOD!!! I love salad, but I figured I could eat a salad anytime....but this soup is too die for. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if I had to chose a proverbial "last meal," it would probably be BBQ ribs or THIS SOUP!

I didn't think I would be a big fan of the soup either, but I just wanted to lick the bowl clean. Juliana didn't eat all of hers, so I gladly finished her bowl for her!

You should definitely try that chicken chipotle sausage if you like spicy foods. It is delish!

Another great update! Le Cellier looks wonderful. I want to try it for lunch, since I've already done dinner. Also, those hot dogs look great. To bad I live to far away! One thing about the green shirts. Last week at my DS's Bible school, a girl was wearing a lime green shirt. My first thought was of your Dis meet and wondering if it was one of your shirts! ;) Can't wait for the next update! popcorn::

Thanks for the comments about the hot dogs! And that is HILARIOUS that you saw those green shirts and thought about us!!! We are quite the trend-setters.

I enjoyed you lunch update. I hope you all shared the good stuff with Will.;) Too bad his appetizer wasn't very good. If it is that cozy in there, I would fall asleep.

Poor Wil....he really couldn't find anything he liked. He's not much of a steak eater, and so he really didn't enjoy his meal at Le Cellier very much.

Hi Alan,

I'm enjoying your trip report! We can't wait for our trip in October! Just wanted to mention that you should consider adding a "Pittsburgh Dawg" (french fries and cole slaw for toppings) to your menu. Those hot dogs look fantastic. Good luck with the restaurant!

Thanks very much! Oh, that Pittsburgh Dawg sounds AWESOME! We've got all the ingredients anyway, right? We are going to be doing a "Dawg of the Month", and I think that just might be our choice for September's dawg! (For August, we are trying a "Reuben Dawg" - all-beef dawg with provolone cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing.)

omg.. thank you for the pics of the soup! not at all what I thought it looked like.. looks much more appetizing than I had pictured in my head!

Oh, you have GOT to try that soup!!! It is wonderful.

Catching up on your current trip report, which is turning out to be as fabulous as last years. I LOVE the mushroom filet and the cheese soup at Le Cellier. I am drooling over your pics now!! Can't wait to read more.

Melissa

Aww..thanks! I'm with ya - Cheddar Cheese Soup and Mushroom Filet all the way. If I were going there for lunch tomorrow, I'd order the exact same thing.

Loved the Hot Dogs and the LeCellier update. That cheese soup looks so yummy. Can't wait until you get to the May meet...popcorn::

Thanks! May Meet is coming up after our Kim Possible Mission and a stroll through the World Showcase.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Le Cellier Cheese soup Yummmmmmmmmmmmmy!!!
We have eaten there twice and we're going back this year! Hot dogs look yummy too!:thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear about the Dismeet.:goodvibes

Definitely. I'm not sure you put enough "m"s in there!!! LOL!!

Thanks for the great comments on the hot dogs.

I kept checking the first page with the chapter links and thought you weren't updating this anymore. Guess I was wrong, LOL. I've got to get caught up!

Oh, I am SOOOO busted on that one! I had no idea I had gotten so behind on that. I have updated page 1....and THANK YOU for calling me on it, Dallas_Lady! You've got my back!

That lil moose dessert is just adorable! what is inside of it or what all does it consist of?

Isn't he cute? Pretty darn tasty too! I'm not exactly sure what goes into the little guy, but he sure tastes good!

We last left off with our delicious lunch at Le Cellier. It had already started getting really hot before lunch, but now it was really, REALLY hot! I probably should have had some water with my lunch instead of beer, because I was starting to feel a little dehydrated. Anyway, it was time to press on. A photographer took this less-than-great picture of us on the way out:

03-079B.jpg

It was about 1pm and our Mammoth May Meet was scheduled for 3pm....so we had a couple of hours to spend in the World Showcase. We had been reading about the Kim Possible Mission on the DIS and both of our kids really wanted to try it.

It was a blast!! Juliana LOVED getting control of the cell phone.

03-083.jpg

The Kim Possible Mission took us on several journeys to see things that we would have otherwised overlooked. Activating certain things at certain times was a thrill for Juliana! It was neat to see the reactions of finding the next clue!

Even though the kids loved it, it was so, so, so, so hot that nothing was very enjoyable except for air conditioning. I spent as much time in the shops as possible just trying to stay cool.

While working on the Kim Possible Mission within the U.K., we met our first DISer!!! Angela!!! aka APB513!!! She was super nice and saw the four of us in those hard-to-miss lime green shirts! We talked to her a bit and told her we looked forward to talking with her and everyone else more at the meet.

After completing the Kim Possible mission, we decided to walk towards France. As we were leaving the U.K., we saw these ladies:

We walked through France and towards Japan.

For me, the heat was beginning to be unbearable. I think I was seriously dehydrated, and I had to sit down for a bit. I used a couple of my snack credits to get water. After cooling off a bit, I started feeling a little better and we went to watch the candy-making lady in Japan.

03-093.jpg

03-096.jpg

This lady is amazing! It is almost trance-like the way she twists, pulls, and paints the candy while narrating what she is doing like her grandfather taught her. Very interesting to watch.

03-100.jpg

As we were watching the lady make candy, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw some familiar DISboard faces....it was Cammie, Ellen, Kara, and Lonnie....the DIS MOMS! It was really funny because it was like we were not strangers AT ALL....almost as if we had known each other for years.

Pictures of this impromptu meeting, and the MAMMOTH MAY MEET up next!

I can't wait to read about your big meet!! I love the candy lady, on my last trip I was lucky enough to get picked and she made a elephant for me, I still have it, too neat to eat!!

Melissa

Hi Alan,

Just checked your (preliminary) bfdawgs.com site and let me tell you that I think the design is wonderful! Simple, strong, vibrant colors and a really appetizing hot dog in the main page!!. Congrats to your web designer!! I bookmarked it and will make sure to check it often.

Regards,

Luis

I so agree about the heat. It seemed killer that day in WS on our way to France. Dh was the first to notice you guys in Japan and point you out to me. I think all I could see in front of me was heat waves.

Hi Alan !! The Meet has begun!!!! I am loking forward to the kids doing Kim Possible in September !! I think they will love it!!! Your pix of it and the Candy lady are as always awesome !!! When Judy sees The World she is gonna realie what a HUGE mistake she made the last time by skipping it !!It is my favorite thing to do!!!
