Team Rebel Alliance Introduction

Scott - you ran a 5k in 25:10 and you're sad about being slower than last year? Holy cow, I think I'm in the wrong place! I just ran/walked my way to a new 5k PR last Friday - 36:00! Should I be embarrassed? Actually I'm OK with it, I'm just suprised by how fast you are!

I wog'd 15 miles on Sunday in just over 3 hours, 12 minutes, but haven't felt like running since. I have a 1/2 on May 3rd, RNR San Diego full on 5/31, San Francisco 1/2 in July, DL 1/2 in Sept. and the Long Beach 1/2 in October. I would love to do Goofy 2010, I see that they opened up the registration again, but I want to do the Princess 1/2 with friends and I can't fly across the country 2x in 2 months... Maybe in 2011?

Thanks for all the welcome wishes, I'll check back once I get out there running again!

Welcome all you new teammates! I have been slack. I need to sit down and input March and make it more a habit to come here and see how you are all doing and get some encouragement!

I did run once this week, 1.5 miles and the first time running outside since the Half in January. It was nice to not be on a treadmill. It is finally warming up and so I think that will make it easier to get out the door. I also have been using the Core Rhythms DVD set I bought. It is okay but for an uncoordinated soul like myself it isn't always easy. Move your arms here, your feet here all while swinging your hips like this. Not always a pretty sight!

Have a great night everyone, off to watch a little American Idol!

Kirsty~ Ha... yeah, its hot in Florida. I lived there for a little bit and I swear I weighed 10 pounds less when I came back from my run from all the sweating I did! I don't really have and suggestions on the stroller. Maybe look into handles that attach to it, to make it easier?

Steve~ Way to go with the workouts! Is plyometrics just jumping around?

Tammy~ Definitely don't be embarrassed on your time! You finished, AND you had a new PR! You rock! And I'm impressed by your race schedule!

Allyson~ Its so much easier to run outside isn't it? The dreadmill for me is so boring :( And for some reason a 10 minute mile pace outdoors is nice, but on the dreadmill it seems super fast. Weird!

I went bowling last night for 3 hours.... not a big contribution, but its still out doing something :)

Yeah plyometrics is just different types of jump squats. It was pretty intense. Some of the stuff I toned down a bit because I'm in a second floor apartment and I didn't want to freak out my downstairs neighbors. Anyway, my legs are quite sore today so my run probable won't cover as much ground as usual, but atleast it will be something.

Ok I just finished my P90X shoulders & arms workout. So today I did a 25 minute run, 16 minute ab workout, and a 59 minute P90X. I am exhausted, so I think I'll have a few well earned Miller Lites. Later

I will take this as a compliment. I guess that it is all relative. I guess that I am most sad about being 10 lbs heavier than last year and in worse shape. The time bothers me but not as much.

Yesterday, I wanted to do three mile repeats. I did two and a bit. I did the first at 8 min and the second at 7:30. The third was only .3 at 7 min pace. I will still call it a successful workout.

Wow Steve... lots of time yesterday!!! You rock!

Scott~ Great times on the running! You'll get there again in no time! Have you been running any hills?

I did a 30 minute shoulder and chest workout yesterday... I need to put that on the spreadsheet

Oooops! I just missed a 6 mile run with my running club, I was so going to go but after work I was sooo sleepy I just laid down for a minute ... well 45 mins later I woke up, nice and groggy (it serves me right) but with all that extra sleep I should be able to get up early for a run tomorrow right

It sounds like everyone elses training is going along great, good job guys keep it up :thumbsup2

Whats up Rebels,
I did the Yoga X workout yesterday. It started out very physically demanding and then finished up as very relaxing. It was kind of a long workout but only about 45 minutes of it caused me to sweat. The last half was all balance poses and they were kind of low key. Overall it was a good workout that was actually pretty fun.

Hi guys, I made up for my laziness yesterday by running to my local pool, its 2miles there and 2 back and then I did 30 laps in the pool as well. I am exhausted now, I am going to start getting fitter soon right  Think I am going to have to start getting up earlier :scared1: its just getting too hot to run mid morning down here!

UTguitarist; it sounds like you do a lot of other things besides running, do you think it improves your endurance?
everyone else: keep up the good work, :cheer2:

Kirsty

I don't know if it helps endurance more than running, but it keeps the workouts from getting boring. I also think its a good way to get a little extra excercise in without putting a ton of stress on my bad knee. The P90X program that I am doing has everything in it except for running. So the plyometrics, yoga, kenpo, and lifting is all the same set of DVDs. I just add a very easy running program to make sure I can do the half marathon when it comes around. I've never done this much training before so I am still waiting to see if its too much. So far, I haven't had any problems (other than muscle soreness, but thats a good thing). Depending on how I hold up over the next few weeks, I might have to dial it back a little.

Anyway, today I'm supposed to do a 30 minute run and a legs & back workout. I really want to blow off the run until tomorrow, but that may be the March laziness resurfacing.

Well good luck and let me know how it works out :thumbsup2 I know what you mean about march laziness, the only part of me that isn't lazy right now is my excuses :rotfl:

Whats up everyone,
Yesterday I did a Legs & Back workout and an ab workout. They went pretty well and my legs are really sore today. I forced myself to go on my run and it wasn't pretty. I don't know if its due to over-training, shin splints, an uneven sidewalk, the wrong shoes, or a just an off day. It was a 30 minute run, including warm-up, and I had to walk the last half of it. I think I'll try running on a track tuesday and see if that helps. Hopefully its just the crappy side walk that I've been running on.

Today, I get to do a Kenpo workout (which should be awesome). I'm a big MMA fan so this workout should be interesting. In other news, I just landed some cleveland indians tickets for next weekend and I am pumped. I hope they don't let me down this year (again).

Just finshed my kenpo workout. That was a the best cardio workout I've ever done. I think of all the workouts so far, that was my favorite. Tomorrow is my rest day so probably no numbers to post. I might decide to take a real easy walk. Only 83 more days left on P90X.

Kirsty - What race are those pictures from? I'm just curious.

They are from the Princess Marathon weekend, the start of the 1/2, the one with tinkerbell in the stroller is the start of the family 5k, the ones with my medals are on EPCOT parking lot after I had cooled off a little! and the mickey minnie one is from the new parade in MK.

Hi guys! I'll try to do better with posting this week!
Allyson...Core Rhythm's sounds like fun, anything to shake it up a bit!
Suzann...OMGoodness, I can just see me out on the track with the high school kids. "Hey Jake, is that your mom out there? Why is she laying on the track?":lmao: He broke into the 4:30's for his mile this week:worship:!
Kirsty...I run with a stroller sometimes. I just realize that my times will be alot slower and I switch which hand is pushing the stroller. Is it a jogging stroller? If not, you need (employers need;)) to invest in one. I responded to your heartburn question. I hope it helps. I have a hiatal hernia and suffer from the same type of problems (pushing the stoller will not help). It's something I've learned to live with, but it's not always pleasant---sorry you have to deal with the same thing.
Steve...plyo's UGH! Wow, you've had a busy w/o schedule. I miss yoga, but it's hard to find peace and quiet in a house w/ 4 boys and a hubby!
Diva...Woot Woot :banana:for the new PR time! I always think that my running time is all about beating myself and not anybody else. Keep up the good work!
Scott... hey there!
Kim.... how ya doing?
Angela... what's up?
Laura.... what have your workouts been like?
Tonya... how ya doing?
Katie.... what's up
Brandie.... what have you been up to?
Andrea... keeping busy?
Teammates....we miss you, make sure you're letting us know how you're doing.:):dance3::)
DH and I did 4 hours of yardwork on Saturday....then yesterday, he cut the grass and ran over a SNAKE!:scared::scared::scared: I was feeling pretty yucky last week and kind of laid low, but it's a brand new week!:cheer2: I'll be working hard this week to get everything ready for Easter. We have everybody over and it's a big deal, but I love it! Today I'm making the rolls and freezing them:). Take care everyone!

Hey everyone!!

Went on a road trip this weekend and got a lot of activities in! Bike riding, hiking, walking! Phew! It was the best weather weekend we've had in a LONG time!

Steve~ You're doing awesome with those workouts!!!

Kirsty~ You go girl with the run and swimming! 30 laps? :worship:

How is everyone else doing???

Hey Suzann,
We were posting at the same time. Glad you had good weather this weekend! We had a beautiful Sat. and now it's snowing again.:confused3 They said we're expecting a hard freeze tonight and all our beautiful spring color will be gone. What a bummer!

Hey everyone just checking in to see how everyone is doing?

Tracy - Did you say your son is running a 4.30 mile ????? what is his pixie dust and can I please get some :) Yeah its a jogging stroller, I switch hands to but its a good job its flat in FL because sometimes its just easier to let go and try to push with my belly!!! (Although I did once get my belly bar stuck in the brake and its probably not the best way to do it!!!) It just seems to put me completely off balance and I am running all funny but oh well I can owrk out at my job so shouldn't complain!!! Thanks for your help with my heartburn problem, its stomach ulcers they are pretty much under control when I am not running but havent quite figured out the magic potion for when I run!

Suzann - I ment to say it was a 4mile run with 30 lengths of the pool (sorry English sayings and English/american sayings are sometimes a little off!) it was an olympic size pool so I was fairly pleased with myself! :)

Its raining right now in FL (which believe me is a good thing since we can no longer was our own cars or houses down here!) and if it doesn't lighning I might go for a run in it after I finish work, to remind me of the good ol' days of running in England!!!

Happy training everyone!

Kirsty

I just got back from a 30 minute run around the lake, it was quite cool and a gorgeous night, I made the miles I wanted in the time I wanted so yay go me
