Team 'Ohana--No One Left Behind: The Continuing Adventures

Jeanne - Hi! Can you post a photo of your shirt so we'll know what you'll be wearing? Also, if you want to let us know which colors of the same shirt we could, um.... :rolleyes1... inadvertently delay to help you out.

Mel - Ah, Billy Squire's The Stroke I remember that one. It is about swimming, right?

Corinna - I am a relative flat-lander and my idea of hills is more like an IMWI speed bump.

John - I definitely agree with you on the race perk details. I think it is pretty obvious they got caught far behind previous year's registration rates and started to realize that they might not even sell out (gasp!) If you can work out the details, I'll join the Ohana tri effort.

Hi! Remember me?!

Sorry to have been away so long, cousins. Life has been a bit overwhelming and I have been more of a slug than I care to admit. I keep trying to get back on track...

Hope everyone is well here. I will try to read back a bit.

Jeanne--I am amused that we crawl out of the woodwork on the same day! Must be something about Fall! And, I so wish I was going for the Wine & Dine Half!!!

I won't be able to do that. I purchased all the shirts, but my daughter is making the iron-on transfers and bringing them with her. We will assemble them at OKW. Right now I have no idea what our slogan is going to be, but will let you know once everyone agrees. We're trying to keep it Disney-friendly, which is not always easy. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Christine: Welcome back!!!!!!

Jeanne and Christine! It's great to see you both!

Jeanne, I can't wait to see the photos of your group from W&D!!!

Christine, there's nothing wrong with a little sluggishness - I like to think of it as a longer term recovery strategy. :)

Richard - you do all your hills in spin class then?

AFM - It's a soggy, soggy day here, so I'm glad I got my Hill/Speed/Fartlek done yesterday! Also, I am torn between a friend's offer to pace me to a 2 hour half at the Monster Dash and the urge to just wear a costume and run for fun that day. I'm thinking I'm going to train like I'm going for a PR, but then....I might just wear a costume and run faster than I otherwise would have for fun. :confused3

Richard - you do all your hills in spin class then?
For the most part, yes. I have a few other options like driving a good ways out to find some "decent" hills, or riding up and down the one parking garage in my area repeatedly (it's a better running idea than a biking idea!) or repeatedly doing a small loop with one or two halfway decent hills locally. If I want to get real hill training in, then it is the spin class for me.

Christine - Hi!

Jeanne - We'll keep our eyes out for you, and especially for the matching orange shirt in case we feel like just kind of slowing the guy down for you (or is he your relay partner?)!

Corinna and Jen--love that picture!

Things have been a little crazy here. I don't know why I thought 3 races in 5 weeks was a good idea, but I am tired! Ok, admittedly one was a 5k at parent's weekend, but we needed to get a long run in, so we ran 3 to the race, did the race (which was pretty hilly--gotta love Columbia, SC) and then ran 2.5 back to our hotel. That was last weekend. So, we were in Indy over Labor Day, in Columbia last weekend and next weekend W&D! Goodness.

Folks are starting to get a little nervous about hurricanes next week, but as long as my plane takes off on Thursday, I don't care!

Mike and I are staying at BWV in a 1BR. So if anyone would like to freeze anything--we like to freeze our gatorade--I am happy to share freezer space. Our plan is to hang out at the pool Saturday afternoon and we'd love the company. I'm going to have to stay away from the pool bar though, until after the race.:rolleyes1 We're not going to do the Boma dinner Friday, cause our DS is flying down and we wanted some time with him and his friend who is visiting. I think since it's a Saturday night race, I can have a drink on Friday.:thumbsup2 Sunday our plan is still to go to Jellyroll's if anyone is interested. (I think I'm starting to sound like I have a drinking issue.:rotfl:)

Anyhow, that's it. Hope everyone is doing well.:goodvibes

I'm with you there, except that I want to make it into MCO before I start caring a bit less about it. I've been in worse weather!

I’m so not good at keeping up with this thread. I think the last time I checked in was during the summer.

I hope to see some of you next weekend at the Wine and Dine race. Mike and I will be doing the relay. We’re not arriving until Sat morning so I’m a little concerned about racing that evening. Hopefully our room will be ready early and we’ll have time to get a nap.

I know JenB, Jeanne, Rose&Mike, Debra, Richard and Mel will be there. Anyone else??? Are there any plans to meet before or after the race?

So far, none of the computer models are agreeing on the forecast track. It was pretty messy looking, but now has started to become better organized, which is a bad thing. But, it's over land and will be putzing around Mexico for awhile before it comes out into the Gulf. Just have to see what happens then.

This is one of the best websites for tracking:

Kathy

Mel had suggested lunch or a snack get together on Saturday, but I have not seen any real plan. This does work for me, anyone else in?

Kathy, what is your bib #for the relay? All 5 of our teams are 104xx, so we'll be together. I had to over-estimate (make them slower than what they really are) the fast people's times in order to get us altogether. Are you running the short or long leg?

I still don't know what our shirts are going to say.....my suggestion was "There ARE 9 MORE OF US", but I don't think that will be it. Remember, I will be in lime green along with my teammate, younger son Jason. Cheer us on, but heckle everyone else! The other colors are orange, blue, yellow and red.

I won't be able to make the Friday meet at Boma, understand some people (Wendy, Pat, Lily among them) are meeting at Pecos Bill in MK around 5pm on Sunday. This is before they kick you out if you don't have tickets for MNSSHP. John and I are going to try to make that one.

Great to see some familiar faces back here. Welcome back to everyone, we missed you.

Jeanne: looking forward to seeing the team shirts and cheering for lime green

Rose: we will be at BCV in a studio, not sure of our Sat plans, but will look for you by the pool if we are around. I agree that the frequent races are seeming a bit ambitious. We have done 2 halves in the past few weeks and I am debating a 10K in morning (although if I dont't get to sleep soon it will not happen). With the warm FL weather may just decide to have fun with Wine and Dine and not worry about my time.

I would love an Ohana meet. We are free Sat or up for breakfast at Boardwalk Bakery on Sunday.

Definitely. It's been truly awful here this summer and the humidity hasn't broken yet. I'm training at about a 2 min slower pace than ever before.

I would love an Ohana meet. We are free Sat or up for breakfast at Boardwalk Bakery on Sunday.

Since some are staying at Boardwalk, we could do Beaches n Cream again on Sat. We could also do DTD, Earl of Sandwich or something like that.

Is anyone doing the 5K Sat morning? I'm going to try to go watch. We also just got tickets to MNSSHP on Fri night if anyone else will be there.

Hey Everyone!

Remember me? :( Your "new" cousin who appeared.......and then spontaneously disappeared for most of the Summer! :( Sorry about that! I've been frantically reading and trying to catch up on all of your posts!

Looking forward to seeing and meeting some or most of you at W&D, next weekend!

DH and I will be doing the 5K on Saturday morning and I'll be doing W&D on Saturday night! Will keep my eyes open for all of you! :) We're staying at our brand new "home" at BLT (:)!!) and will be trying to have an early evening on Friday night (in anticipation of the race on Saturday morning), so unfortunately we won't be able to attend the AKL / Boma WISH Meet. But hope to see as many of you as possible at the actual races! I will be proudly wearing my lime green, this time! :)

Hope that all is well with all of you! Congratulations on ALL of your respective recent achievements (love all of the photos from the DL Half!!) and lots of good luck with all of your respective training! I promise to be a better correspondent! Take care and see ya real soon!

Lisa :)

P.S. After a Summer filled with 5K's and 10K's (as there aren't any Halfs scheduled in this immediate area during the warmer months of the year), I will FINALLY officially qualify for Half Fanatics next month.......3 in 90 days (2 of which will be within 15 days of each other)........in 3 different states! Yipee! :)

Lisa :)

Lisa - Hi! Hoping to see you at the W&D next weekend (hard to believe it's that close). Good luck on making the Half Fanatics soon.

Mel - I am tentatively planning to attend the Friday MNSSHP, so maybe I can see you guys there.

My travel schedule is mostly open for any team meet as I will be travelling solo for this trip.

You Winers and Diners are making me very envious! It sounds like Ohana is going to really represent for this one (which makes total sense, somehow...).

I had a good swimming lesson yesterday (Stop that giggling, you guys!!) and the guy who can't swim wasn't there, so I just swam back and forth, getting tips on form, which I so need. I always say the reason I run and do spin classes is that it's very linear and no coordination is required. Swimming is linear, but there is a lot of coordination and body-awareness required to do it with any sort of efficiency. I'm feeling so lucky I learned pretty well as a kid, even if I never swam on a team or anything.

I had a run this afternoon that...was not the best. It would have been smarter not to go out to brunch after church today if I was going to run in the afternoon. I didn't feel sick, exactly, just kind of loagy and blah. Of course it doesn't help that i'm trying to train up a little in preparation for the Half at the end of the month. And, oh yeah, the 10K next Saturday...which I'm not actually registered for yet.

I'm also still chipping away at the several pounds I re-found this summer in Europe. Why is it so much faster to gain than lose, huh?

Hope all the cousins have had a good weekend! Have fun packing for Wine & Dine and safe travels to everyone!
