Team 'Ohana--No One Left Behind: The Continuing Adventures

We're here! Got in last night. DS had some issues with his flight (picture teenager with a mohawk--don't ask--running throught the Charlotte airport at 10:00pm), but Mike and I had no problems.

Our plan is still to make it to B&C tomorrow around 3:00. Mike is 6'3" and will probably have a carolina world series baseball hat on it.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Quick post. Saw Mel and (most of) family last night as we were exiting Magic Kingdom and MNSSHP. If I'd had more energy, I would have bowed to her for doing the party & tonight's half marathon. DOOD & I were just dragging by the time they saw us. :thumbsup2

Richard: I have no idea about the Moms Panel, but I'm not holding my breath. I'd like to quickly meet/compliment a couple of people, then skeedaddle to the 'Ohana meet. I'd skip it entirely, but it's one of those limited seating, bring your invitation things, so I'd feel guilty, guilty, guilty. But it'll probably be quite interesting, as such things have a way of surprising me.

Hope everyone is having a great time and has an awesome race tonight!!

Corinna, how are you doing? Trying to find motivation to clean the kitchen and get in a workout...

Hi Team!
A quick report from the World:
Mel, Jen, Debra and I got together for the Beaches and Cream meet--sorry we missed you there Rose, but I am sure you were having fun somewhere.

While prepping my race gear and (ahem) scanning my MNSSHP candy I found a couple small packs of Twizzlers that are now packed alongside my race gels.

The weather is nice, slightly warm and humid... but that's my knid of weather.

Wine & Diners - have a great race tonight! Will be there in spirit (or perhaps in dreamland, since in reality I'll probably be asleep before the race ever starts. :sad2:)

I finally made it back home (technically the Chick-Fil-A a few miles from home to eat and use their wifi) from an absolutely exhausting and amazing weekend.

Mel, Jen and Debra - It was great getting a decent amount of time to just sit around and talk for a good bit on Saturday.

Lisa - We met up somewhere before mile 2 and then separated around mile 11, if I remember right. I realy enjoyed spending all that time chatting and taking photos (some might say too many ;) ). It may have been my slowest half time ever by a lot, but it was also the one I enjoyed the most, especially since I almost never passed by a good photo op! :rotfl: Thanks for being a part of that with me.

Rose - Sorry I missed you the whole weekend, hopefully next time.

Jeanne - Also, great to see you, I did see you on the course from behind at one point, but never did see the rest of your family in the crowd.

As for that after party, I was less than fully impressed, I was really happy I bypassed the bag check nightmare, but the terrible waits to get some food where good. I do, however, have every confidence that Disney can improve that for next year.

If I left anyone out then I apologize, but I think I've only gotten about 14 hours of sleep total since I woke up around 3:45 Friday morning, so I am working on fumes right now.

I'll post a report at some point after I get back into the flow of things now that I am back outside of the Disney bubble.

Hello Cousins!

Remember me? Sorry I have been MIA for a while.

Congrats to all who did the Wine & Dine. It sounds like a great race! I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures. :thumbsup2

I've been gone too long to go back and read everything I've missed, so I'll just jump in here.

My motivation has been seriously lacking since January. I have a half marathon tomorrow - my first race since the WDW marathon. I did train for it, but not as well as I would have liked. I'm sure I'll finish it, but I'm not expecting my time to be anything to write home (or post on the DIS) about. Hopefully running this race will get me back on track.

I hope all of my cousins are doing well. I hope to get here more regularly to catch up with everyone.

Have a great weekend! :goodvibes

P.S. Maria - How does your DS like school so far? DD is taking the exam Nov. 6.

Hi Julie!

Are you running the BAA Half? Dennis is, too! I have to take ds to church -- the youth group has a field trip to Salem. Yes, I think that's an interesting destination for a church youth group, but what do I know?

DS is doing great in BLS, and he loves it! We are very pleased, all in all. I'll wish your dd luck, and I'm sure she's ready for the test! I admit, I am very glad we're done with it.

I ran 10M this morning and it felt great, I seem to be getting back into my rhythm. I was trying to push too many miles during the week and ending up with none, so I've backed down and now I'm much happier.

Hi all!
Richard--sorry we missed you all. We were actually at Beaches and cream--but weren't sure who was who, and I was so stressed at that point that we ended up going back to the hotel. We did go to JellyRolls Sunday night, and had a nice time. I think we talked to you right before the race--or it was someone else with a wish shirt on who looked like your pictures.:goodvibes

We had a good race. I posted a report on the BL thread--page 119 I think.

The bag pick up was a NIGHTMARE!!!!! I felt so great at the end of the race. I was so happy and crying and smiling at the same time. Then we got in that line. OMG!!!! It was so hot. My heart rate stayed in the 130s and I felt horrible. Took about an hour before I started feeling well enough to eat or drink anything. I will never get in a line like that again until I feel like I have cooled down somewhat from the run. The party was fun--great music, but the lines were pretty bad.

And I loved the Osbourne lights! Just what I needed for a pick me up!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Rose: So sorry we missed you at Beaches and Cram. I didn't realize until later that none of us were wearing WISH stuff to make ourselves obvious (although DH and I had on the 5K shirts from the morning race). Glad to hera you had a good weekend though.

I ran a surprise 5K with some friends today and got a PR of 29:20 which makes me happy. Not sure what it does to the 14miles I was supposed to rn tonight-- I'll see how I feel.

Julie - Good to hear from you and good luck on your race tomorrow!

Rose - So sorry we missed up at Beaches and Cream. I'm glad you got to me before the race. Yes I was wearing the bright WISH shirt, and my jungle fever shorts as well. I was so glad that I did not chack a bag when I saw that cluster of a mess at the bag return line.

Jen - Congrats on the PR!

I'm still somewhat tired from the Wine and Dine trip. Adding to that, I did a 9 mile run this morning (passing on doing a local 10 mile race) before heading out to do some work. Tomorrow I need to get in a 50 mile bike ride as I am peaking next week before my November 7 half iron. :scared1:

Hi All,

Rob & I did the BAA Half today. The start was really cold, but it warmed up a bit and turned into a beautiful day for a race. The good news is that I got a PR of 2:17. The bad news is that I was dealing with nausea from mile 11 on (not sure why - maybe improper hydration?). Came home and had a nap and now I'm back to my old self.

Maria - How did Dennis do? I'm so glad that your DS loves school. Hope the field trip to Salem was fun. Way to go with the 10 miles! :cool1:

Jen - Nice job on the PR! :thumbsup2

Richard - A 9 mile run and 50 mile bike ride in one weekend? :worship: is all I can say.

It feels so good to be back in touch with my cousins. :goodvibes Have a great weekend everybody!

I've been asked by Maura whether or not our team is open to new members. I wanted to bounce this question around, I do think that accepting new members (the number of which would ultimately be up to us) is a good thing, but let's hear what the rest of you think.

Congrats on the new PR! Great job in pushing on through your nausea. Just think how much faster you'll be on the day when you feel great the whole way. :)

That's fine with me. The more, the merrier.

Julie - Congrats on your new PR. Awesome time. Someday I will be as fast as you.

I'm sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with everyone at the Wine and Dine weekend. We didn't arrive until Sat morning, I was exhausted and not feeling well. We took a nap Sat afternoon as soon as our room was ready. Sorry we missed the Beaches and Cream meet.
I fully intended on going to Jellyrolls on Sunday evening but I was still not feeling great and we went to bed early. Luckily after some much needed rest, Mike and I were able to enjoy our time on Mon and Tues before heading home.

I need to start focusing on training for January again. All of the wining and dining we did last week has not helped.

:sunny: Happy Monday to everyone!

New kids are fun :thumbsup2 but they have to look good in leopard ;)

Maria - How did Dennis do? I'm so glad that your DS loves school. Hope the field trip to Salem was fun. Way to go with the 10 miles! :cool1:

Dennis also had a PR! 1:59 for him, he was so psyched to be under 2 hours!

Richard -- Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other's gold :thumbsup2 It also helps if they can tell James T. Kirk, Luke Skywalker and Jack O'Neill apart, but it's not strictly necessary ;)

JenB -- Congrats on the PR, that is awesome! :yay:

Rose -- I had read other horror stories about those lines, I'm sorry you had to wait in one

I ran 4M today, and we spent the afternoon working in the attic. We had 7 big plastic bins that were completely empty -- the good news is after about another hour, it will be in good shape. Our attic is finished (carpeted with a cable hook up), so it can be used an as extra room. Well, it could if we didn't keep taking stuff up there and just leaving it anywhere...:rolleyes1 There is a great space by one window where I could set up a puzzle table and just create an area for myself. I'm thinking about it, but not sure I want to be that separated from everyone...I kind of like keeping an eye on the tween! ::yes::

Everyone have a great night and an awesome week!
