Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Wow-- can't miss a day 'round here. Finally caught up to today and that'll help me find my place later. Had an old girl pass away on us yesterday, I knew it was coming but still a shock.

She was just a great all around kitty-- never gave us any problems ever once. At least she died comfortably and didn't suffer much. Husband found her sleeping in my sons bed in the morning so she died in her sleep. she was about 15. Her name was Trixie but I called her Sis because she would follow my son around 9most likely because he always had food lol).

Anyway doing ok. Got brussel sprouts at Costco and husband made them-- I forgot how good those things are. Went for a walk last night--the moon was really full and pretty.

So sorry for your loss. We lost two cats this past year. One, 11 years old, kind of out of the blue, and then my 18 yo cat-like you said, expected but leaving a hole anyway. She was a beautiful cat, leaving you with many good memories. ((hugs))

CC: Do you mind sharing why you are GF? I dont' remember if you have. I'm curious since there is a chance I may have an allergy or intolerance, I am waiting to hear back on the bloodwork I had done last week.
I have been g-f since February. (Wow, I can't believe it's been almost a year!) If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them and I talk about the whole g-f thing in my journal.:goodvibes

It's not always fun, but it is probably the best thing I have ever done for my health.

well i didn't do fabulously this weekend -- and i'm 10 pages behind so i just need to move forward

i promise to start my day here tomorrow :teeth: gotta stay focused!

Dinner is ate and now I'm letting my food settle while I'm watching Alvin and the Chipmunk movie (the 2nd one). Once my food is settled then I'm going to get my workout in. Week 2, Day 1 of Biggest Loser on the kinect. My mile is complete but the pedometer is still going... :) My water is drank for the day. Don't really have any plans for tomorrow as of right now.

Oh my goodness, I'm just getting around to introducing myself and we are 37 pages in, ouch. Not sure I'll ever catch up, so I'm going to try to stay on from here.

My name is Patty. I've joined the BL a year ago here and it's helped me be accountable. I lost 50 pounds last year and am hoping to get another 25 off. For the first time in most of my adult life I'm no longer obese and am just over weight. If I can get this last bit off, for the very first time, I'll be in the 'normal' range (high end but that's ok). Here is my last year and this year Disney trips (the very beginning of December).

I'm working full time, going to school part time, towards a degree in nursing. I've just spent the past six plus weeks with my mom in the hospital recovering from a traumatic brain injury. It wreck havoc on any 'normal' eating and I easily put on a few pounds leading up to Christmas. I'm working on getting those off and the rest of these for this year.

Hoping to get to 'know' more of you and I'll try to check in here each day.

Just saying "hi". I just got back - was away - and am overwhelmed with the speed of this sucker. Oh well. :rotfl2:

Down 3.5. All about water - drinking it because I changed nada besides that.

I guess all I want to say is right now I'm in a terrific head space. Let's all prray. :rotfl2:

Really, great head space. Have lost a lot. Gained some back but not huge amount. Kept majority off for years. This is a great mental leap. Not focusing on the gain but the kept off. :thumbsup2

I am most pleased that I have finally accepted - mid-forties - that I weigh high - weirdly high - VERY WEIRDLY - and always will. And will never be tiny/slim/small/skinny and was never meant to be. Yeah for me! Huge.

Well excuse me while I have a personal celebration of my mental health. :rotfl2:

Would love to contribute more. Crossing my fingers that I can keep up.

I need to start exercising....im not doing too good this weekend

What do you enjoy mommyof3princess27? Don't focus on that - not doing well this weekend. You know it's a journey so we all have times like that. Tomorrow - or tonight :goodvibes - is brand new.

So sorry that I sound like some positive pusher.

I want to thank all the Team Donald folks who have been popping on the Team Mickey thread to say hello. :flower3: It's nice to see everyone because we all have so much to share and learn from one another, regardless of what team we are on. So I would like to encourage all of you Team Mickey folks to say hello to our fellow Biggest Losers on the Team Donald thread and to stop worrying about the post counts.

The hallmark of a BL challenge is that it is a positive, supportive place.
I'm thinking it's time for us to all hold hands and sing "Kum-ba-ya" now. :hippie:

meh, i ate more than my calorie allotment today. i'm not beating myself up about it (too much) because none of it was crap food...more like, an extra sweet potato and piece of chicken. DH bought devil dogs and i made him put them on the high shelf so i can't get them. :rolleyes1

I have a DIS weight tracker, but when I login and change the numbers to my current weight, it simply logs me out and doesn't change the tracker. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I really think seeing the weight change-no matter how small-might be encouraging.

Hi to both of you. Thanks. :goodvibes

glad you're in a good head space :rotfl2:

Hey!!! No small feat. ;) It's busy in there. :lmao:

I totally got a visual for the devil dogs stretch. :rotfl2: I don't know what they are - but I guess I can imagine. Or google. ;)

So very sorry for the loss of your baby. We had to have a 14 1/2 year old Boston Terrier put down 2 1/2 years ago, and I still think of her. It absolutely leaves a hole in your heart, and just wanted you to know that I'm sorry, and you're in my prayers.

To My Mickeys
It's a new week! When you're feeling down or tempted, think of the folks on this thread and stay the course (or at least try! :lmao:). Seriously, this group has been really motivating to me, and I love that I'm not in this alone. It's great to know that others are facing the same challenge(s) I am, and that if I need help or support, you're a login away.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy week. Let's show some great numbers on the scale this week! :woohoo:

Funny Story
Not sure if you read my pp, but I said that I'm only picking one things to focus on (reducing calories), and the other items are do-better items. Well now I remember why sticking to one or two goals MAX is a good thing.

I went to a reservoir near our house today with my hubby who is an avid exerciser. Now mind you, I haven't exercised in heaven knows how long. With this in mind, I thought to myself, "Bridgett, this is not a good way to 'ease' into exercising." Much to my own internal 'danger Will Robinson' bells and whistles going off in my head, I went. We pull down to the bottom of a long hill, and I'm at the base of the reservoir. I go up the first set of steps on the left side of the dam, and when I reached the top, I honestly thought I'd drop dead. Right there...not exaggerating. So catching my breath (that's putting it mildly), lungs burning, I walked across the dam and went down the other set of steps thinking I could make a big loop back to our car. Going down's not so bad. Right? Well, I guessed wrong and was was more like a big U than a loop. NO way to get to the car from where I was. So I walked a while, only to have to walk BACK UP 125 steps on the right side. Then, of course, I'm still on the other side remember. I had to walk back across and back down the other set of steps to get back to our car. By this time, I've been sucking wind (cold wind) for 40 min or so, and am back at the car. As soon as I get in the car, I feel sick because I've completely over-done it. Then, if that's not bad enough, I start having an asthma attack (wheezing, coughing, tightening of my chest, shortness of breath, whole nine yards). Never had one in my life. It's midnight, and I'm still recovering from the trauma!

Not sure what the moral of the story is...ease into things, or exercise is evil :stir:! :p At any rate, if you are starting an exercise program, take it easy. We don't want any dead Mickeys around here! :lmao:

Welcome to the team. That is really inspirational, and I'm glad you are joining us so that we can pick your brain!

I had a great day today. Really cleaned the bathroom, did some leaf raking in the yard, went grocery shopping and got my salads ready for the week. It's amazing how great a productive day can feel.

I also tracked everything I ate and stayed on target. I have now officially tracked for a full week! :cool1: I am a horrible procrastinator and tend to stop tracking midway through the week, so this is a big deal for me.

I forget to mention a NSV that I had earlier this week: Our Orientation and Mobility Specialist asked me if I had been losing weight. I haven't really lost that much yet, so it was nice that somebody noticed!

Seeing successes like yours make me a bit more motivated!

Not sure what the moral of the story is...ease into things, or exercise is evil :stir:! :p At any rate, if you are starting an exercise program, take it easy. We don't want any dead Mickeys around here! :lmao:

I read this out loud to my mom and she says it's definitely that exercise is evil. :rotfl:

My biggest suitcase is packed. Here are my vaccum sealed bags-there are two pillows and undergarments in the left and all my other clothes on the right.

DSCN0641.JPG

Oh my gosh, where have these bags been all my life?! After a lot of squishing, they both fit into my biggest suitcase, along with some other miscellaneous items (flip flops, pictures frames, power strips, ethernet cable, etc). That leaves my medium suitcase to hold everything else-not that there should be much, just like toiletries and hangers.

I check in for my flight and 8:30 tomorrow...well, actually I guess it's later this morning now. Since I'm flying Southwest, I say it's a lot like registering for classes: log onto the website and put in your info 5-10 minutes before the appointed time, keep refreshing the page until the system lets you in; once it does, click as fast as you can and hope for the best! :thumbsup2 The flight isn't sold out at any price point, so I'll take that as a positive sign.

Mom and I will be taking a trip to the local ImmediateCare tomorrow morning, because something is definitely wrong with my knee from my fall down the stairs. It's not bruised and I didn't hit it, but it's the side that slipped on the stair in the first place. There's a rather large bump that feels like bone that shouldn't be there-Mom thinks I may have dislocated my knee cap. It still hurts, and is kind of making cracking noises when I bend/unbend it.:scared1: Hopefully it's something they can fix quickly!
