Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

EVERYBODY'S Losing FOR THE WEEKEND!!!

good morning my lovely losers! it's the weekend! you know what that means?? TEMPTATION is EVERYWHERE!!! that's right - it's not that far away from the holidays so we're still probably in gorging-ourselves-silly mode. this is the first weekend where there ISN'T a party to go to...right? so that means we have to be EXTRA diligent in our choices this weekend. (especially me!)

so...QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?

for me i'll be faced with temptation all day today! we're heading out to the bronx zoo this morning - it's supposed to be 57 degrees today! we usually do some exhibits and then sit and eat at the food court which has AMAZING chicken tenders and fries. instead, i'll either bring a lunch or pick one of their salads (they actually look good!). this afternoon we're going to Disney on Ice (:woohoo:) at the arena in Bridgeport, CT. we scored free tickets in a box from a friend (:woohoo::woohoo:) and we all know the temptations that come from arena food. i think i will sneak some healthy food in and allow myself a small bit of the good stuff as long as i journal it all. i'm heading out now for a walk around the college that's down the road from me.

***
i will be back later with replies. meant to do it last night but my friend came down for a visit and then my aunt and uncle stopped by and i didn't get any computer time. darn friends and family ;)

have a great and healthy day everyone!

QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?
I'm taking DD to her co-op placement today. I WAS going to stop at IKEA for lunch, but I think that I'll just take some veggies with me to snack on. I'm using Fitday to track, so I'll try REAL hard to stay OP. I've been so exhausted (and still achy) this week, that I did well. I don't want to mess it up NOW!

Today I got a visit from TOM. I'm on BC so I was expecting it today or tomorrow. Usually, I get it on Sunday, but no biggie, and I could tell by how I was feeling yesterday.

I am unexpectedly going somewhere today during the lunch hour, so I'm not sure what that will mean. They always have GF food, so I can't use that as excuse and bring my own meal. I haven't eaten breakfast yet, so I shouldn't be too hungry.

I have plenty to do before I need to leave, so I better get going.

Have a wonderful day!

One more thing...

Team Donald likes to post- A LOT. We are way behind in post counts.

EVERYBODY'S Losing FOR THE WEEKEND!!!

Will be cleaning and shopping this weekend. Preparing meals as much as possible on Sunday for the work week. Sounds like fun huh?

My healthy choices will be shopping the perimeter of the grocery aisles only. No junk food makes it into my house unless the Mr. sneaks it in. Yeah, I know he has a stash, but he doesn't know I know. :rotfl2:

.QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?

The only planned activity we have is a concert. DS16 is playing in All District Band this afternoon :thumbsup2

I will get a walk in before or after the concert. I've got pork chops thawed for dinner and I am heading to the kitchen to makes soup for lunch. Maybe tomorrow we can go somewhere and walk...we have some great parks and walking trails!

And... I'm going to drink my water. I've had a terrible time with that.

QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?

Good morning, everyone! The weekends are a huge challenge for me, exercise-wise, because my weekly routine is based so much on the kids leaving for school - I work out before I start work. On the weekend, we're running errands, etc. So I thought a lot this week about how to make sure I get exercise.

Fortunately, today is an absolutely beautiful day in northern VA - we're forecast to have temperatures well into the 50s! So we're packing everyone out to a park with a playground we haven't visited before. It has trails, too, and while DH is watching the kids on the playground, I'm hitting the trails for a walk. I'm going to shoot for at least half an hour.

Later, I think I might invite the girls to try some Just Dance with me. And/or I'll do a ride on my bike, which is removed from the kiddos.

One of our general resolutions is to spend less, so while we'd usually be eating out at least once or twice on a weekend, our plan is to have all our meals at home this weekend. And that gives me a lot more control over my food intake.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

XO

This is a CHALLENGE and Donald is beating the snot out of Mickey right now!! :rotfl2:

As you can see by my post count, not many posts for all the years I've been a member. I'm always the lurker with nothing to say, but I'm trying.
Let's start posting and supporting each other!! :cheer2:

I remember reading that we are to tally points for doing our challenges and mini challenges. I can't find it back! Can someone tell me how it works and who I PM to send in my data?

Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am new to this thread, just joined and was chosen to be on team Mickey! I am excited, and nervous as heck, because I feel like I have to be even more accountable for my choices more than ever!

I am currently 166 lbs, but was 178 when I started my lifestyle change (hate the word diet) in October.

What got me going was a) a mom that I do not get a long well with asking me when I was due and b) seeing how I looked in my September 2011 WDW pictures. Also, how nasty i felt while in WDW.

Previous to Christmas I was 164, but put on 2lbs over a 3 week span :(

I use the app my fitness pal and try very hard to not only stick to my calorie goal, but incorporate more fresh fruits and veggies.

I try to get to the gym 5 days a week, but life gets crazy sometimes and I make sure to go at a minimum of 3!

My favorite exercise classes are Zumba, spinning and a circuit training. I am not a fan of tread mills, free weights, or anything that doesn't involve other people lol! I seem to push harder when a teacher is eyeballing me!

I have a fantastically supportive boyfriend, who is tiny, but has also started the new lifestyle change with me, and has lost 22lbs so far(think he put 3 back on over holidays though)! To be fair, although he is small to me, he has put on 45 lbs since we started dating 2 years ago.. he was emaciated then though lol!

He is my rock, and never pushes me beyond my limits but also doesn't let me get out of work outs or healthy eating! God bless him, because I can be a total whiny baby!

I have 2 awesome children 11 and 5! I nanny but tonight is my last night. With that said, I have been working for my friends pet sitting/walking business and that will be my new full time job! Which is great, because it keep me active!

My goal is to be 130 lbs, which I don't believe I have been since I was about 9 or 10...no really...

My biggest weight was 208 in December 2009. In January 2010 my sons father cheated on me with a close friend and left me. I went down to 168 from not eating and just overall depression.

In February 2010, I started dating my best friend of 13 years:love: I had always secretly been in love with him, so I was and still am smitten!

We will be going on 2 years this February, and I couldn't be happier!

I am not sure how this all works, so any pm's with advice, and encouragement will be greatly appreciated!

To answers todays QOTD- I am taking the little boy I nanny to a roller rink party, so I will be roller skating for exercise today, and also taking my kids for a walk to our little town :)

Our next (in our minds) planned WDW vacation is for Feb 2013. By then I would like to love pictures of myself!

and now

I am so excited to be a part of team Mickey!

I have joined this challenge because I do so much better with accountability. If I don't have specific goals, I really tend to find excuses and blow things off. (I'm so not proud of this but have finally come to except it.)

So.... my goal - to get down to 137lb. I am at 151ish now. I am doing this mostly because I don't like the way I feel. I have been sluggish and tend to feel run down and tired all of the time. My sleeping patterns have really been lousy the past couple of years too. I'm hoping that better eating and regular exercise will help combat this too.

Right now, I play volleyball in a competitive league once a week. Have started playing racketball again once a week. LOVE IT! And am looking for a marathon or half to run. (Again, much better with a goal. If I don't have a race, I don't run.) I had started training for a local marathon at the end of May, but they just cancelled it. So, I'm trying to figure out another one.

My biggest problem is that I eat so poorly. I need to fix that!

Anyway, I am looking forward to the challenge and being part of team Mickey!

:wave2:

popping in quickly again.
Trying to get motivated, and I just can't.

But on the up side. DS11 has decided to switch schools so my life is being simplified a little and the household stress level will go way down. I hope we can use this to ramp up the next phase of our lives.

OH and DH applied for a local job!!!! He hasn't had a local job since DS15 was born!!!!
:woohoo: pixiedust: that he gets the job! That would be so great for all of you.

When will your son switch schools?

Just wanted to thank so many of you for the encouragement this week! The new job went well this week (as well is it can for your first week). Believe it or not, I also managed to lose 7 pounds! A LOT of water loss, obviously, but glad I could keep things on track this week.
:woohoo::cheer2: Great job! Glad the new job went well. The first few days are always the hardest and you have those behind you now. :goodvibes

So I am down 2.4 so far for this challenge. I'm pretty happy with that since I usually struggle with losing 1 pound a week. I swear I have the slowest metabolism in the world...lol :rotfl:

**I've drunk all my water everyday, and some days a little more than my goal this week of 4 glasses a day :cool1:
**I've workout out everyday for my 10 minutes (goal for week)...tomorrow I will start shooting for 20 minutes a day :dance3:
**My eating has been pretty good. I've stuck to my goal of less carbs, and smaller portions...I did have a couple rolos (PMS is going strong), but only had 3 :yay:

Michelle (yanni2)
:cheer2: Great job! Sounds like you are really staying on track.

That mild, possibly allergic reaction I mentioend yesterday became a full blown (not anaphylactic) today. At one point my para walked in and asked me if I knew my face was really red. It had been red yesterday so I didn't worry about it too mcuh, but when I looked in the mirror the whole left side was bright red and was mildly swollen. I went to the school nurse who suggested an antihistamine. Since I am allergic to Benadryl, I called my doc. I could not get in, but she did call in a steroid pack. It is still red.
.
:scared1: Sounds like you need to get this checked out ASAP! The next reaction could be anaphylactic. Sometimes these things get worse with each exposure.

We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner and it wasn't very good. The food was very bland and everything was lukewarm. My potatoes were clumpy. Mom's chicken and dumplings looked very boring, white on white. Service was just okay. I had 2/3 of a fried haddock, a bit of mashed potatoes, one biscuit, one bite of cornbread, and some "Fried" apples, plus two sprites.

Tomorrow I need to go by some of those vacuum seal space saver bags. Someone in the college program facebook group said she managed to fit all her clothes, bedding, and pillows in one duffle by using them!

:rotfl2: That is pretty much Cracker Barrel! DH hates it. It is all pretty much "comfort food" which is usually bland and white. Love their chicken and dumplings but it isn't healthy or gourmet.

If you are flying down be careful with the Space Bags. You can put a lot of stuff in them and while you will have lots of space you may exceed the luggage weight limit.

:worship: Thank you for this! I was dying for something savory and crunchy and celery was NOT cutting it. Happened to have a can of garbanzos in the pantry. REALLY hit the spot and saved me from what probably would have resulted in an ugly potato chip binge! Going shopping tomorrow and picking up some more garbanzos and some black beans to experiment.

I really can't believe how delicious those little buggers were ... and healthy!
Aren't they amazing??!! The first time I saw someone talking about them it was as a healthy substitute for popcorn at the movies. I thought the guy was  but they really satisfy that crunchy need and you can make them so many different ways. I would still rather have popcorn at the movies but it beats carrot sticks or nothing!

Team Donald is kickin our butts with postings.

Just sayin...

Team Donald likes to post- A LOT. We are way behind in post counts.

Just in case anyone was wondering...

I am doing my best!!! :surfweb::hyper2:

I have our dinners planned and only healthy stuff in the house so that will keep me On Plan. Not sure what we will do this weekend. I may try to clean my scrapbook desk or reorganize my kitchen drawers, depending on which ticks me off first!

We love Disney on Ice! We didn't go this year and the kids were :( but it just wasn't in the budget. Keep that resolve and make those HEALTHY choices!

Still trying to figure out what I am going to do today. DD16 is at District Band auditions and the rest of us are hanging out. Probably going to do some organizing as I said above. Had PB on Whole wheat toast and coffee for breakfast. Not sure what lunch will be but dinner is marinating.

I posted the recipe for the low carb White Chicken Chili I made yesterday on the Recipe board.

QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?

PACKING, PACKING, PACKING! Which makes me feel like this: :crazy2:

We're also celebrating my brother's birthday tonight, and while I'm not sure what the actual meal will consist of, I know he's requested strawberry cheesecake. I will have a slice, and journal it.

Hello fellow teammates! I got a call yesterday from a friend who wanted to meet for breakfast today. We always meet at the same 50's diner. Food choices aren't great, but I got 2 eggs over medium with sourdough toast and bacon. I know yikes. I'm pretty certain I won't eat until dinnertime because I'm pretty bloated feeling! I'm glad I went though it was nice to catch up. Before our 8am breakfast I made sure to get 2 mies in on the treadmill so that's a positive. Also just want to send a shout out to our awesome coaches you guys are the best! Have a great day everyone!

Of course, I'm always behind!

QOTD: How are YOU doing with the challenge so far? What's the hardest part? What will keep YOU working hard in this challenge beyond the end of January?

I'm doing pretty good. I'm down about 2 pounds this week, so that is a good start. The hardest part is staying away from chocolate. I think I'm a chocolate addict LOL.. there needs to be a 12 step program. I'm not exercising yet either. I've got to regain some of my energy before I can start on that... so I want to say one of my greatest challenges (besides chocolate) has been my low energy levels. But, I'm working with my dr and they are helping me figure out what is going on with me. And what will keep me working beyond the end of january... I turn 40 this year, and I have spend my 20's and 30's fat, feeling bad, and out of shape.. so I just don't want to do that anymore. I want to get control of this and regain control of my life.

QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?

Today I'm just being dang lazy LOL.. I've put my esty shop on vacation for the week while I get some orders our and some new items made to list. I'm working on my 2012 jewelry line "Naturals". It is all going to be nature inspired, ceramics, crystals, stones, base metals, etc..

Tomorrow, we are going to visit out college age daughter. I know we are going to ruby tuesday, so to incorportate healthy choices into that, I've researched the menu and reviewed the calories. I've already picked what I want to eat, and will stick to my plan.

Oh! I did hear back from my dr about the lupus test. It was negative. So, that is a relief.

Lisah0711 I just read your post again and I've got to hand it to you!! 15 miles!! Woo hoo! That's something to celebrate!

And I like the Runners World thing you mentioned about a 52 second half marathon time decrease with every 2 pounds we lose. That's GREAT!

QOTD: what are you doing this weekend? and how will you incorporate healthy choices into that activity?

Our weekend is pretty low key this weekend. Finances are really sucky with my Dh just starting a new job, so we are avoiding leaving the house because that tends to end up in some money being spent...lol!

We do have church this weekend tonight and tomorrow might for us.

To stay on track (and avoid spending money) I have dinner in the crockpot for tonight....chicken with carrots and potatoes...I will eat mostly just the chicken. For tomorrow night there is leftover chili already done.

Today I am starting my increased workout time. So moving up to 20 minutes a day.

I'm also increasing my daily water goal to 5 glasses a day.

I've been doing some super cleaning today! Working on the pets' stuff to sanitize and straighten up things, doing loads and loads of laundry, whew! My daughter has caught the cleaning bug too and is spring cleaning her room. She's filling up the garbage can, the laundry room, and the donation collection corner. She even vacuumed out dresser drawers! I think I'm going to faint! :faint:

I've done well today drinking water and eating healthy. I plan on spending time on the elliptical this evening. I've actually had a bit of a workout cleaning the pets area. I'll count that as a little exercise too!

I may treat myself to a Bleu Ridge salad at Long Horn's tonight. I love them and with the light eating I've done today, I'm not worrying about the bleu cheese dressing! ;)

I'm taking DD to her co-op placement today. I WAS going to stop at IKEA for lunch, but I think that I'll just take some veggies with me to snack on.
