Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

HI to my teammates:woohoo::woohoo:

This is my 2nd team challenge and I don't know how many BL challenges in. I dropped out of the last team challenge when life was just not going well. And while I wouldn't say life has gotten better in the interim I have gone on a Disney Magic cruise and changed a few things around, and making more of an effort in others so right now I am dealing better with what comes my way. :thumbsup2

For those who don't know me: I am Maureen and will be celebrating my birthday on the 15th. So just 2 weeks from a new year for me. My current day job is Target, and I'm wishing it wasn't. On the side I am selling AVON and doing better with it this year than last. I am hoping to get it to a point where it can be my only job, but that's a ways away yet.

On the fence about maintaining or losing this time around. I seem to go back and forth between the same 5-8lbs nowadays and it doesn't bother me at all. But I need to get back on my workout routine and have people who will help me keep it going. Will do my best to keep up with the thread but no promises.

Hi! My name is Cassie And I am a pediatric registered nurse. This is my first biggest loser challenge and I am excited to start! I need to lose over 100 pounds. But I'm hoping for 20-30 for now! I am headed off to Disney next Wednesday. I am walking the Disney Half marathon with a team of 40 people. We are raising money for Comfot Zone Camp, a bereavement camp for kids.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

hi friends :yay::yay:

i'm here! i'm here!!

it's so great to see new faces, and some familiar ones!!

ok, i want to share with you all my post from the BL challenge invitation thread
I'd really like to join in, but i will have to put it out there in public, upfront ...two things...first i don't know how reliable i will be and two i honestly don't know if i'll be able to lose weight

so why do i want to join, i want to be a part of a support group -- i need to make some healthy changes again in my lifestyle and i need accountability

why the pessimistic outlook? i am recovering from pituitary gland resection surgery and Cushing's disease, actually i'm retesting during the next couple weeks to see if I still have high cortisol (the body's natural steroid) which would explain why i haven't lost weight post-op. I still have Cushing's symptoms including central weight obesity. I have 50 lbs to lose from this dreaded disease but I have to be cured from it first. That is unknown at this point...

so my goal for this challenge is to be choosy and wise in my food choices and to exercise 4 days a week.

Excited to be here, I am! :yoda: Oh Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, Hey Mickey! Hey Mickey! :smickey:

Maria :upsidedow

Hi! Is this your first CP? What role are you? Do you know where you are living? I did three CPs. One in Fantasyland Attractions and two in entertainment. I lived in Vista and Chatham (Patterson was still being built when I was there.) One of the big temptations is to eat all the Disney food which can be expensive! Make sure to make use of your kitchen. I would also recommend briging your own food to your shift because Aramark just wasn't that great. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, this is my first CP. I'm Main Entrance, and I've had someone check the hub for me to see where I'll be. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with Main Entrance, but I don't want to say here in case it changes. I have 5 people picked out to live with and we want Chatham, then Patterson.

 Maria I'm loving the cheer! Now it's in my head. Oh Mickey what a pity you don't understand....

Looking forward to the challenge! I just went to brush my teeth for bed and noticed powdered sugar ALL over my sweatshirt :rolleyes1

I'm Nancy. Mom to two boys, 2.5 and almost 5 weeks. I need to lose 30 lbs to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight  :headache: my goal for this challenge is to lose 20. I will be running a half marathon at the beginning of May and going to WDW two weeks layer and staying in the tree houses. I would like to celebrate the half marathon and reaching my weight loss goal on that trip!

Now if I could only put the donuts down....

Hello All,

I introduced myself on the main board but I'll do it here again with a bit more details. My name is Bickiana but everyone call me Bicki. I live in NY and have lived here all my life. I'm 28 years old, married and have a 2 (soon 3) year old. I work as a teller part time (a lot of sitting :rolleyes1), and I'm going to graduate school for dual certification in special and regular elementary education.

I am always busy and have attempted to get into shape on my own for awhile. Lately its become harder and harder so I am really hoping this will work. I am very optimistic after reading a lot of the encouraging stories here. I am hoping to lose at least 40 pounds by the time this challenge ends.

I am looking forward to the accountability factor, I really do believe that works. I have also joined the gym with a co-worker who has been very successful at losing and maintaining. I also look forward to learning from those of you who have been in previous challenges. So thank you in advance ;)

Greetings all! I'm Kipp and I go by KippWade on most social sites. I'm a 43 yo male that is tired of being called "Big Guy".

I started 2011 weighing in at the Doctors office at 282lb. I started running the C25K program in March and doing a BL type contest with my Dad up until our Disney trip around Labor Day.

Since ending our contest, I've pretty much been stuck in the 240's. Although I've flirted with climbing back over 250 during this Christmas season! :(

I'm relatively new to the DISboards and found it while looking for information for the Disney World 1/2 Marathon.

I plan on meeting with some people at the meets for the Marathon Weekend. The WDW 1/2 will be my first running event ever!

I'm hoping by joining in on this, it'll keep up my motivation and for me to reverse the recent gain and continue on with the weight loss I want.

That's awesome! When do you arrive? I'm excited for you. Honestly, the CP is one of the best things I've ever done. One of my bridesmaids was a friend from my CP who is still down there.

BTW: I love your avatar. Belle is my absolute favorite. Back when they had Cinderellabration, I was able to get a picture with Belle and the Prince in front of the mural at the castle. It's my motivation picture for losing weight.

Nancy, I love the new pic of your boys in your sig. They're both just so darn adorable!

That's great that you're going for special/regular education. I always appreciate people who go that route because my brother is so dependent on special education teachers existing and being good at what they do!

:welcome: 40 pounds is still a fantastic loss! And that's great that you started C25K and plan to do the 1/2 Marathon. I started C25K over the summer and made it for about six weeks when work kind of took over my life and I decided I didn't really like running so much anyway.

That's awesome! When do you arrive? I'm excited for you. Honestly, the CP is one of the best things I've ever done. One of my bridesmaids was a friend from my CP who is still down there.

I check in on the 11th, but I'm flying down the morning of the 10th and staying at Old Key West. Planning to explore the resort, possibly swim if it's warm enough, have lunch at Olivia's, and then meet up with my roommate at Downtown Disney. I've heard from several of my friends who've done it that they made amazing long lasting friendships-definitely something I'm looking forward to!

Belle is my favorite too (obviously). I am very much like her. Rapuznel is my second favorite. I was never able to see Cinderellabration; it ended before I got down there in 2007. :sad1: I think I need to get a "motivation" picture.

Hi. I'm Susan. I lost 50 pounds a year or so ago over the course of 2 years and lately have gained 20 back. In the last 3 months. It's getting a little frustrating and scary. I quit doing the challenges mostly because it was very easy for me to maintain for a long time and I was losing too much weight. I also felt bad for people who really had a lot to lose-- I always looked at those women who were 5 pounds or so off their ideal weight as being kind of silly and not really needing to be here I guess... anyways I'd like to lose 15 pounds this challenge and just get back on track. For those who remember me on here-- I'm doing ok really, just falling into old bad habits like making food my only source of comfort and fun...I'm still working out as much, but like Lisa mentioned--it doesn't matter how much you burn you have to limit intake. I think non food rewards will get me back on track as well as accountability, support and the endless genius of you (mostly) ladies.

'nuff for now :-)

Good morning everyone! Well it's very early and I'm sitting on the Disboards catching up instead of getting on the treadmill. DH had to be at work at 5am so I woke up when he got up for work. DD is still sleeping so the best time to workout. Ok I'm going...I'm won't get any closer to my goal sitting here! Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for the quoting explaination, I'll try it out! We are going to Disney May 12th through the 18th. We will have just missed you guys! Where are you staying? I've posted a question on the resorts board whether to stay at BLT or VWL. BLT's theming doesn't seem to cut it for me, but the walk to MK is drawing me to stay there and of course the monorail...gotta get my fix of the bandaid smell that eminates through it!

Good luck on the weight loss, I think if we all stick together we can meet our goals!

i was just at BLT in september and we loved it! walking to MK was so great, especially since we had a 2 year old with us and i was 30 weeks pregnant at the time! we are staying in the treehouses in may! :) we actually are trying to buy points at BLT now so obviously we loved it! the pool is great and the quick walk to the monorail is a major plus!

hi kip! welcome aboard and congrats on the 1/2 marathon! woot! :woohoo: i hope you have a blast! congrats on your weight loss so far too! that's wonderful!

aw, thanks gretchen! i actually got the matching jammies from kathy (mikamah) . both boys are in them now too.

i'm so excited for you and the college program. also, i'm like, waaaaay jealous! :lmao:i wish i had known about it when i was in college. i would have wanted to do it for sure. then again, i'm pretty sure my parents would have NEVER let me! let's just say i was a little bit of a party girl and being able to play in disney all day for a semester would probably not have been productive for me! :rolleyes1 after all you've been through lately, you deserve a great time down there and i just know it'll be great. can't wait to hear about it and hope you'll post pics!

i know you're supposed to end in early may but i hope you can extend a little bit so we can maybe meet up when we're down in may. i'm going on the keys to the kingdom tour that trip! all by myself while DH watches the boys - i can't wait! (not sure if i'm more excited about the tour or just the fact that i have scheduled ME time!)

hi susan! looking forward to getting to know you! i have to say i don't think people that only need to lose 5 lbs are silly for being here. we ALL need support, whether it's 5 lbs or 150 lbs to lose. when i started out with these challenges i only had like 7 lbs to go and i made it! i don't think i would have lost them if not for the challenge. of course, the day after i hit 135 i found out i was pregnant again. :scared1: and now i'm back to needing to lose 30. anyway, we're glad you're here even if you only have a few lbs to lose! for me i think it's important to remain active with these challenges because it is SO easy for me to gain, even if i have gotten close to goal.

Good morning everyone! Well it's very early and I'm sitting on the Disboards catching up instead of getting on the treadmill. DH had to be at work at 5am so I woke up when he got up for work. morning! nice work hitting the treadmill this morning!

I'll be back later to catch up on replies!

ah, thanks lisa! nice to see my clippie back in action :)

**************

good morning all! i've been trying to finish this post for going on 2 hours now! yeesh.

i was planning on taking the boys to Wee Play today (an indoor play place) but when i was in the shower i must have twisted weird and my neck went totally out. oooowwwwww! it happens every so often as a result of a car accident i was in 7 years ago and a few herniated discs. partly this happened as a result of all the new bending down i've been doing with the new baby and sitting differently when i nurse him. but alot of it has to do that i'm back to being overweight and out of shape. all the more reason to get back to running! when i'm in shape my back and neck feel SO much better. time to get back to it!

have a great and healthy day everyone! looking forward to kicking some big booty (and losing some big booty) with team mickey!

Good morning, all! Many of you know me as I've been around Dis & BL challenges quite awhile.

I usually fade away through challenges, but I CAN NOT this time. I first joined WW on 1/28/03, and haven't made goal, on, off, up, down. Like most moms I let life get in my way and i am a MAJOR stress eater! I am about to start a new WISH journal here and get back in the groove. This will be the first New Years that I have weighed more than the previous, and I am disgusted with me! I need to lose about 50 lbs total according to my Drs, but am in really prettyngood shape for 51. Journaling is a must for me, and I rejoined WWnin Nov but have only been 3x. That, too, will be changing.

Won't drag on with my crazy life here, but feel free to visit my journal.

Make sure to join the January exercise challenge!
Together we can do this!

At present I am sitting in Starbucks - veinti decaf skinny peppermint mocha for breakfast- while waiting for Dd20 & her fiancé to get done with their hot air balloon ride he gave her for her birthday. I live just outside Albuquerque, NM, so ballooning is big here.

Healthy Habits Information

Hello Everyone,

I understand that there is some confusion as to why I hinted as to the need for a notebook. I often ask you to write things down other than what you ate. Also, many people find that it is best to have everything together. One of my intentions for this challenge is to record some information about each day in my notebook. I will use myfitnesspal to journal my food, but my notebook will have other valuable information in it. Some of these include:
- # glasses of water I drank
- exercise for the day
- info on emotional health
- if I ate out that day

Hope that helps!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to all of you! I see some new people so I wanted to mention that some of us are called by a first name or a nickname. If you could include your name or how you wish to be addressed, that would be greatly appreciated. The decision is yours to make; we can always use your Dis name. :goodvibes

I'm very excited for the challenge to start. Lisah0711 will be coaching the first week and she is an awesome coach! Thanks Lisa!

Have a great weekend everyone!

CC

Welcome all to Team Mickey members of the Biggest Loser 13 No Excuses Challenge! :smickey:

Thanks to Janis, Sue and CC for taking care of us this challenge. :flower3:

I am Lisa and I will be your coach this first week. :wave2:

Our challenge officially starts on Sunday and as the challenge starts there are just a few things that you need to do:

1. PM your beginning weight to our lovely weightkeeper, dvccruiser76.

2. PM your beginning WIN! numbers to buzz5985 (if you are doing WIN!)

3. Keep an eye out for CC's post about HH (Healthy Habits) this week (if you are doing HH)

I am in the Pacific Time Zone so will try and post the QOTD for each day the day before so you Easterners will have something to read in the morning.

This is the warm up question for tomorrow.

QOTD Saturday, December 31, 2011: Please introduce yourself and tell us about your goals for this challenge. :goodvibes

All right let's get this party started! party:

I'm CC. My parents decided 2 syllables are easier than 3 syllables so they shorted Christina to CC. I'm not sure when it started, but it stuck and I like it. It makes things a lot shorter. :rotfl2:

A little (or a lot ;)) about me...I have been going through some medical things lately and am officially on a gluten free diet as of today. I just spent the last 4+ weeks having to eat gluten and realizing how much my body dislikes it after having spent 2 months eating GF. :headache: The vertigo was the worst, but it's time to move on and do the best for my body. Today, my father and I were talking about how much eating gluten seems to affect me. I am definitely better eating gluten free. :thumbsup2 I just ordered a GF cookbook from amazon and I cannot wait to read it. I've never been so interested in cooking before! I'm not too picky on taste (except spicy) and am willing to try almost anything once so I'm looking forward to trying some new recipes. :cool1:

With being GF, I am almost always in charge of going grocery shopping. I am fortunate to have parents who are very supportive of me eating GF. :yay: (They aren't supportive with a lot of other things though. :headache:) Sometimes my father comes with me, but it looks like tomorrow I'm flying solo. My mom has decided that we will now be buying meat somewhere else, meaning that I now have 3 grocery stores to go tomorrow morning. As she said, "I have nothing else to do." :rolleyes1

I recently lost my job, which means that she is kind of right. I spend a lot of time job searching and am staying optimistic. Everyone here has been very supportive and I appreciate that immensely. :)

For the newbies, you will hear me talk about "med checks." During the 1st BL challenge I participated in, I was having major problems with my doctor prescribing way too many medications. My BL friends helped me gather the courage to say no way and change doctors. I now have an absolutely wonderful one who listens extremely intently to me and values my opinion. I have a med check soon and I am expecting that everything will stay the same. :)

I am very fortunate to have found the WISH BL Challenges and am looking forward to hosting Team Mickey for the "No Excuses" Challenge! :goodvibes

Have a great weekend Team Mickey!
