Team Hakuna Matata Introductions

Okay, as I understand it....

Miles and minutes/hours for walking, biiking, etc where miles can be measured. But on things like Pilates, weight resistance, aerobics, tai chi (I just through that one in for fun) you just count hours.

I think. :rolleyes1

Okay, I just went back and double checked. Dave said:
Each member will add their miles to the running total, captains will just have to add their own miles/hours. We will have two running totals, one for miles and one for hours.

The hours total is for total hours exercised in a day. So if you walk 3 miles in an hour and took a hour yoga class you would and 3 miles to the miles total and 2 hours to the hours total. If a team choses to not compete in the hours competition that's fine but there will be prizes at the end of the year for the team that has the most miles and the team whose members exercised the most hours.

If you have a day that you did aerobics, and a dance tape for 3 hours but did no miles you would only add 3 hours to the hours total and nothing to the miles. A walker who does 20 miles in 6 hours would add 20 to miles and 6 to hours. A runner who did 20 miles in 3 hours would add 20 to miles and 3 to hours.

Thanks Connie, I am so behind in all the posts and my computer was running so slow I couldn't find it.

Ya we start tomorrow.

Lets go team!!!!

2. How do I join a team?

3. What exactly do the teams do?

Thanks in advance!

Hi! :welcome:

Question 1 - There is a Goofy thread at: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1702437

Question 2 - Teams have been chosen, but you can get on the sub list by posting on this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1704676 Just tell them there on a post that you want in!

Question 3 - The game. LOL We are accumulating miles by running, walking, biking etc and hours of workout with Pilates, aerobics, weight resistance, yoga, etc. until December 31 for fun, prizes and health. It's an intramural team game that starts tomorrow.

Hope to see you posting on the boards.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNIE!!!! Sorry I missed that this morning!!!!!!

How did you want us to give you our milage, mins??? Daily, weekly?? On this thread or PM??? What works best for you?

Kim

Thanks, Kim!! It's coming a blizzard out there, right now. Normal for my birthday!! :lmao:

I will start a thread tomorrow, they will make it a sticky, and every one can post their weekly total there. Disneybelle has created a spreadsheet and posted it on Google that anyone can look at, but only captains and co-captains can edit, it will keep a running total of our hours and miles.

THANKS, DISNEYBELLE!!!!

:rolleyes1 Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Connie......Happy Birthday to YOU!!!!

:cake:

:bday: Just popping in to say Happy Birthday to Connie! I hope you enjoy it to the fullest!

:cake: party: :drinking1

Happy Birthday Connie!

Can't wait to start logging my miles/hours tomorrow. It will make me feel like my workouts are meaning something, as I don't have a race scheduled in the near future. Go Team!!!!:cheer2:

Oh Gosh! Thanks everyone. I have to say, I haven't gotten this many Birthday WISHes since I was in grade school. Thank you so much for making me feel special!! :grouphug:

Happy Birthday Connie!!!

A question on the rules of the game... RACES do they count? Susan from Team Jessica Rabbit has us doing a 1/2 Marathon at the beginning of April so will we be able to count those 13 miles and hours? Sadly I might have to slow up and walk slow than her so we get credit for the hours :lmao: (I hope she doesn't see that comment or I'll be taking a snowball to the head this weekend LOL)

Sadly since there is a 1/2 Marathon on our schedule that means Susan will be training therefore I will have to up my gym and night runs to counter her :lmao: I have mixed emotions over this coming race. I think it will be fun - The Martian Marathon in Dearborn Michigan. We'll do the 1/2. I can't remember what the medal looks like but we have seen one of their 2007 tech shirts in our park and they are kewl looking! Plus the mile markers are blow up little green aliens! LOL How cute is that?

But even though it will be a kewl event that does mean Susan will be coming out hibernation and I think even if the Groundhog says longer winter Susan will not see her shadow and spring will commence. (oh i am in for a beating this weekend lol)

Oh no! No beatings allowed!! (not even snowball fights!!) Races however, are allowed. Movement counts, and moving in races should count doubly!! Okay, they don't count double, but yes, they count!! Kathy and I will be doing the 1/2 in Oklahoma City, in April too.

This game is just designed to take us out of the comfort zone we have been experiencing. Most of us doing endurance events don't do much if any cross training and we need to, in order to be balanced emotionally and physically. There are lots of us with injuries that have develope because one part or even one muscle is strong and the opposite muscles are weak. So, work hard, slow down for the race :rotfl: , and rack up them hours and miles!!! I have at least two races on the horizon and plan to count every one of them, not just the run up to them!

Thanks for the Birthday WISHes!

xxxxoooo Connie

Hopping over from Team Number 1 (so named for a reason) to say happy birthday, Connie! So glad it is today, before the game start, so your birthday cake won't be ruined by the bitter taste of defeat.

Good luck, guys! We'll try to leave a few orange slices and some powerade for you at the finish line.

Hi Connie,

Happy Birthday. Thanks for dropping a line in at team 7's thread. It was very inspiring.

BRING IT!!!!!

Happy B Day Connie, Looks like I might make it home tomorrow and will work on the logo over the weekend. In Cody WY tonight and the weather looks yechie, but we will see. In Wyoming wait 20 min and it will change. Later Kids

One last post for today, wishing you all happy & healthy training for the challenge! Hakuna Matata!

It's been so good to see Connie posting her well wishes on the other threads, too. I think ALL of you should spent your time on the WISH boards, trash talking & encouraging other teams. Don't bother logging miles & hours--it'll give you all a lot less to worry about. Like losing, which is what will happen if you go up against Team Ohana! :cool2:

Well it starts tomorrow. Remember, One step at a time everyone. We're a team and the benefits will be greater fitness, firmer everything and good friendship.

Technically Friday is my day off of exercise so it'll have to be Saturday before I post anything.

Take care. Let's GO!!
