So just HOW BAD.. can shoes look after just one performance ?? Are they just that broken down.. or is it for "Appearances"
Both. They're pretty torn-up and icky looking, but also broke-down enough that they can't be trusted for another performance. Usually still good enough for a few rehearsals, then downgraded to taking class only and not going fully on pointe. We can put a man on the moon... you'd think pointe shoe technology might have advanced beyond 19th century craftmanship, no?!

Mr. C was in tears this morning. Poor man. He loves her so much. And they've said she'll never be the same.
So sad Jen. :sad1:

Jess is home ill, she had a temperature last night and has a cough etc, she aso had me up during the night so I'm tired too :rotfl2:
Oh no, the Thing has made it across the pond! :sad2: Hope she feels better soon.

Hi girls!:wave2:
Hi LL! I miss you already. :sad1:

I'm way behind too. We have to ship everything to everyone and it's such a PITA! Do I order from Target and have it shipped here, then wrap and ship out myself? TWICE the shipping! Or do I have them wrap it? $4 more to do that! OMG.
Here, too. I bought everything myself this year and shipped it... NEVER AGAIN! It cost $60 to ship 5 packages! None were big or heavy, either. From now on, everyone out of town gets things shipped direct from the store. :headache:

Jen, that is so sad.

Looks like you both should be in sick bed resting. :goodvibes

She's here for - gulp - (only) 28 more days...

:faint: If that was my mother, one of us would not survive.

Oh, while I'm thinking of it, my sister is back home. They are there for now, the electricity and heat are back on so they can start drying out. She said they can't use the upstairs but that's fine. The kids are bunking downstairs for now.

I'm glad they are able to be at home. :thumbsup2

The boys are taking me out to dinner on Thursday for a Bday REDO! YAY! Bob said that he wasn't going to leave my birthday the way it WAS. He's so sweet.
Fun!

She's here for - gulp - (only) 28 more days...She's been busy over-mothering me and generally driving me nuts:headache: . Already.
OMG 28 days :faint: Good to see you though and I hope you get everything done

The kids are bunking downstairs for now. I will talk more with her later today. That was all through texting so not too detailed.
Great :thumbsup2

Thanks for the hugs !! I am feeling more cheerful today !!:flower3:
Good

Postage is ridiculous isn't it :sad2: I've sent a few presents this year direct through amazon!

Looks like you both should be in sick bed resting. :goodvibes
I nipped out and did a bit of shopping (the beauty of Jess now being older is I can leave her briefly) I've also hoovered and cleared up :thumbsup2

I got David another pressie an fm transmitter for the car so he can listen to his ipod whilst driving!

Forgot to mention that I can twirl a baton....probably not while playing the trumpet.

DH and DS11 play sax.

DD can cheer and DS9 can be the drum major because he likes yelling at everyone.

I think we have a small class band emerging here:lmao:

So You "twirl Baton too" What girl raised in the south did not??Sara has even had some lessons.. alas:sad2: she is "shaft twirl challenged":sad2:
I twirled rifle too... when I showed up for camp.. and knew how to twirl I was asked where had I taken camp or had lessons?.." I said... in my yard with my BB Gun... at first... then I moved up to my 22 Rifle.. Unloaded of Course ":rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sarabeth is home sick today too

Where is everyone!?

I'm up, showered, and ready to go! You guys need to wake up! LOL.

Today I am meeting my friend, Kathy, for coffee.
AM I LATE?? where are you ...oh....:guilty: not me:sad1:

The boys are taking me out to dinner on Thursday for a Bday REDO! YAY! Bob said that he wasn't going to leave my birthday the way it WAS. He's so sweet.

We watched how they made pointe shoes on How It's Made. Very interesting...

People have started asking me about pointe for Baylie, but I think she needs to wait a few more years. I'm not sure it's something she wants to look into anymore, either. :confused3

:faint: If that was my mother, one of us would not survive.
::yes::

How's Reid doing, Angela?

Love that show!

How's Reid doing, Angela?
He's fine, thanks. The surgery is scheduled for Dec 30 and will be outpatient and no big deal according to the doctor. Apparently my BIL's mom has been calling them every day to check on Reid, and will be at the hospital with them. Not that they don't call her with any updates. There haven't been any. I told my sister I'd be there if she want's, but it's up to her.

Good morning all! :sunny:

Just got off a long teleconference and needed a quick break. I'm working from home again. :surfweb: I beat my cold, but DD11 ended up catching the harsher version from Mrs. T. She has now joined DS6 in the ranks of the  . So, only one of the kids made it onto the school bus this morning. Thankfully, everything has been relatively calm with them this morning, no drama, or explosive fights, while I was on the teleconference with the client.

I took DS6's temperature this morning. His throat isn't hurting anymore, but he still has a low fever, without any fever reducers. Since we have a 24-hours fever free rule at his school, I think he's destined for another day at home tomorrow. :headache: Mrs. T is arranging for a sub, so I'll probably make it into my office.

Hope everyone is getting better and/or doing well! I skimmed a bit. Here are some   :grouphug:   for those in need. I'm sorry for no individual quotes, but I need to jump back into work before it's time to make lunch for the kids.

O.K.. THAT WAS FAST... BTW Sara wants to know what the temperature is there right now...

Canada has 3 territories ??
and while the internet says 10 Provinces... Sara has her "map" colored in some kind of Regional Provinces..

Atlantic,
Great Lakes and St Lawrence
Prairie
British Columbia
and within in those .. we have Alberta, Saskatch...Manitoba, Ontario...

She has a Northwest Territory
Yukon
and Nunavut

:scared1: :scared1:

Just back from tests at Hospital! Had a Bone Density and Xrays of hands and knees !! I love how they say to get comfy on the Xray table !! Hello there is no way that thing is comfy!!!:rotfl2:

Okay the provinces and territories are pretty much just like your States. I'll start with the provinces. There are 10 provinces

Starting on from the West Coast there is British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland & Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The most heavily populated provinces are Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia.

If you want you can divide those provinces into geographic areas such as Great Lakes, prairies etc (these are not "official" divisions simply how people refer to certain areas) much as you do in the states.

British Columbia and Alberta would be designated as the "West Coast" or "Mountain Region" as the Rockies run through them.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan are the prairie provinces.

Ontario and Quebec could be classified as the Great Lakes and St Lawrence area.

Then PEI, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and New Brunswick are the Maritimes.

Now the Territories, these all lie to the north and are scarcely populated as they are mostly frozen tundra. This is the country of polar bears.

There are three territories: Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Nunavut is a somewhat recent creation, it used to be part of the Northwest Territories. The territories stretch all the way up into the arctic.

The only difference between the Territories and provinces is how they receive authority from the federal government.

As for the temperature here in my neck of the woods it is -4C or 24F.

I think the teacher is messing up my kid...

We have BC all by itself :confused3
Alberta , Saskatchewan, and Manitoba as the "Prairie"
Ontario and Quebec as "Great Lakes and St Lawrence "
Newfoundland, Prince Edward, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as "Atlantic"

I did not recognize Nunavut... :confused3 I remembered the NW Territory as being bigger... . Thought I was wrong there.
I wish they used textbooks like they did in the "GOOD OLD DAY"S
These kids color and copy off of "overheads" allowing a big window for mistakes.

We are pretty good on the facts about Canada... very General there
But this Map is messing with both of us. Her being sick is not helping. she has a 100% grade so far in Geography... Canada may give her teacher a coronary if Sara gets less than a 100. She is the ONLY one in 5th Grade with a 100% YTD in Geography.. and she wants to keep it that way.

Thanks for your help:lovestruc

BACK TO STUDYING !!!!

I think the teacher is messing up my kid...

Alberta , Saskatchewan, and Manitoba as the "Prairie"

Well Alberta could also be considered "prairie" as it is half mountains half prairie.

Newfoundland, Prince Edward, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as "Atlantic"

That is technically correct although nobody up here labels them as Atlantic, here they are "Maritimes"

I did not recognize Nunavut... :confused3 I remembered the NW Territory as being bigger... . Thought I was wrong there.

Yeah, I don't remember what year it happened but it was not too long ago that Nunavut was created out of a piece of the NWT.

But this Map is messing with both of us. Her being sick is not helping. she has a 100% grade so far in Geography... Canada may give her teacher a coronary is Sara gets less than a 100. She is the ONLY one in 5th Grade with a 100% YTD in Geography.. and she wants to keep it that way.

I hope she keeps her 100%

I would go ahead and use the teachers labeling even though it is not technically correct. ;) For instance nobody refers to Ontario and Quebec as the Great Lake and St Lawrence provinces. They are simply too vast to be categorized like that. If it gets SB her 100% then I say go with the "teacher".

Hello all... just popping in looking for my ambition...anyone find it? I seem to have lost it! :lmao:

Finally got some sleep last night but now it's cold and I wanna hop back in the warm bed....but I really should go to the pet store....but the cat ain't out of food yet!

So off for some coffee I go and we'll see if I even leave the house today...lol.

How's everyone else doing????

I received my secret santa gift today and I am thrilled !! I have had a very sad day I just heard today that my best friend growing up in England died of Cancer last month! Another old friend sent me a Christmas card and in it was the obituary, she thought I knew !!I have spent most of the day in tears and once again it was my dear Focker Friends wholifted my spirits !!

I'm so sorry, Rosie.

Angela - Paul:confused3 ;)

I wondered that, too - and she keeps not answering. I think we have a NotMitch situation on our hands! :rotfl:

Tomorrow is our first teacher/report card conference for Jimmy...WIsh us luck everyone our appointment is 5pm EST.

Good luck! I'm sure he'll be great. :goodvibes

Mr. C was in tears this morning. Poor man. He loves her so much. And they've said she'll never be the same.

Aww, poor guy.

Jess is home ill, she had a temperature last night and has a cough etc, she aso had me up during the night so I'm tired too :rotfl2:

I'm so sorry. Give her a hug from me.

Hi girls!:wave2:

Hi, LL! Good to see you. Good luck with mom.

****************************************************
I had my tennis practice this morning. D decided to stay home with the kids, so that was nice - they are starting to not love the gym daycare (because of age).

The weather for tomorrow morning looks a little sketchy, so even if they decide that school could go on because they're getting the wires up, we might have a weather problem anyway. :headache: 2-4 inches of snow tonight (which is no problem) but changing to sleet just as the morning gets going, so some slippery ice accumulation is expected. Not enough to re-destroy all the power lines, but enough to make driving fun. Sigh.

D is taking the boys to the Dome for some play time. I am going to continue to catch up on laundry and cleaning - and then we are meeting because the boys - on their own - decided to buy each other Christmas presents. :lovestruc I think that's nice.

Their skis are supposed to be ready today, too - that's their Christmas present from us. We got a really super good deal at a store that was having their grand opening, so brand new skis for under $100. :thumbsup2

Anyway, I should start doing some stuff, but I wanted to check in. I'm glad, too, that Mel's sister is back in her house - good news!

wondered that, too - and she keeps not answering. I think we have a NotMitch situation on our hands! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: He's Paul Mitchell. Unfortunately, no relation. No one calls him Paul and only his immediate family calls him Mitchell.

How is there tennis but no school? :confused3

That's sweet. Do they like the same things or totally different?

It's hailing out! Yuck...so I'm tucking the ambition in behind the big cup of coffee and the couch. I'll save it for later.

Anyone watch the 20/20 special last night? I'm watching it now, its interesting.

Mr. C was in tears this morning. Poor man. He loves her so much. And they've said she'll never be the same.

Still in my thoughts:hug:

Forgot to mention that I can twirl a baton....probably not while playing the trumpet.

Awww, why not...you could probably get on America's got talent doing that!:thumbsup2

I finished my cards tonite!!! mailing them out tomorrow. Annie helped stuff all the envelopes. so I really hope you all get the correct cards!

Adventures in card writing!:lmao:

Jess is home ill, she had a temperature last night and has a cough etc, she aso had me up during the night so I'm tired too

Ugh, hope she feels better:goodvibes

Hi girls!

Hi LL :wave2:

She's here for - gulp - (only) 28 more days...She's been busy over-mothering me and generally driving me nuts . Already.

:faint:

Have a great day everyone...miss you all:grouphug: but wanted to stop by and at least show myself and not just read a couple of pages here and there.

Miss you LL:goodvibes

The boys are taking me out to dinner on Thursday for a Bday REDO! YAY! Bob said that he wasn't going to leave my birthday the way it WAS. He's so sweet.

Cool!:goodvibes

Man, I was still sleeping when the phone rang this morning.

Who called that early:headache:

I'm not happy about being up because I stayed up late last night looking different school options for next fall.

What kind of options Dawn:confused:

:faint: If that was my mother, one of us would not survive.

There is a reason my mother lives 1000 miles away:rolleyes:
