That is serious. You don't need to be worrying about those stairs all the time. I hope they do find another place to live.
Honestly, they've been talking about moving for several years. D's stepdad - at 80 - is finally nearly ready to retire. His mom, who is going to be 64 in Feb., is not. She got her PhD in Psychology somewhere along the lines of 1994, and so her therapist career hasn't been that long yet, you know? They started talking last year about a place in San Diego or Arizona, for at least part time, but she doesn't want to retire. (Which is a whole other issue for us, too, as she gets jealous of my mom's time with us, but my mom is retired. She has more free time. If D's mom wants more free time, well... there's a solution.)
None of this has to do with money - they are extremely well off, the house would probably sell for over $1.5 million, even in this market - it's in one of the wealthiest suburbs in the Chicago area, a block from the lake. And they bought it in roughly 1986 for less than $500K, so there's a profit no matter what.
They just have to really get off their butts and do it. I don't mean to be mean, but... Less talk, more action at this time...
Sorry, I think I needed the vent there.
Wow, since Mel's gone, no one's up early! We had a lovely dinner with them last night at T-Rex. The food was good but V was right, very loud! And who says there are economic problems? There were people everywhere!
Oooh, fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*********************************************************
When we were driving home from the friend's house last night, the van made a "fwop, fwop, fwop" noise, so we pulled over, and the engine belt is shredding. So, we need to drive that over. D has his medical exam - for his pilot's license - this afternoon, so I may be stuck here most of the day, which is fine. Mondays are quiet.
Anyway, I'll likely be back later, but we need to get on that so that D can move on with his day - he wanted to go to work before the appointment.
Have a great day, everyone!
