Team Focker Watch: Lucky Number 13!

Kristel, I'm sorry to hear about everything you guys are going through. :hug:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, only a couple more days of vacation left! Sometime this week we have to take the tree down and I should probably do a good cleaning of my study and get rid of all the junk since I know I won't feel like doing it once I', back in class. Classes start back up on Monday and then I'll be counting down the days until Break Week at the end of Feb. :laughing:
Janet - Love that Jimmy's enjoying the Wii. You might want to look into the UDraw for the Wii. It's very cool!
I saw that. It looks cool!
Ah, that Maddie - already freaking out about her new teacher
How did she make out?
, wish me luck.
You got it!:thumbsup2 You will find something:goodvibes
Been working on our Christmas trip as well. Waldo and TE were in, then they're out, then they're in, then they're out.... BAH!!! I'm booking on the 15th, so they better **** or get off the pot already! Now I'm just debating if I want to come home before or after Christmas.....
For me it would depend. Do the kids still believe in Santa, then I would be home for Christmas. If they don't (Jimmy asked alot of questions this year:sad2:) then I'd stay until after;)
LMAO! That's too funny!
He is PO'd that he can't beat me at bowling though;)
Things got back to normal today, the girls went to school, D went back to normal hours at work and I played golf It was only the second time I'd played since end of November, first lot of 18 holes, I played pretty good too
Ahhh, life is right again:woohoo:;) BTW - Remember my freind Denise (Jimmy friend Matt's mom). Her daughter had us :rotfl2:. She was playing Wii golf. She got a Bogey and started dancing. We asked her why. Her response: Because the game told me to boogie:lmao:
I have pretty much lived at the nursing home since New Year's Eve. Doug had a very bad seizure which rendered his right leg useless. His mental faculties are becoming very challenged as well. I couldn't take proper care of him at home any longer.
I hated the idea of handing him over to complete strangers but I know it is for the best. He is getting a lot of therapy - physical, speech, mental. The staff has been very good to us. I am there to help most of the time. He has lots of friends and family visiting him too.
He will start radiation treatments next week. The nursing home will transfer him to the radiation center and back. I plan to be there for those treatments every day.
I will try to post when I can. Things will be very busy with me as I will return to work tomorrow night.
Also to all of you that sent us Christmas cards - Thank You!
Big hugs to all of you!!!
:hug::hug::hug:Just know that we are here for you when you need us:hug::hug::hug:
Just more crazy-busy-ness here... :
Sounds like it. Glad you had a good time with your parents. Your NYE sounds much like ours - quiet:thumbsup2
Glad you are liking the job.
Have fun with Dr. Belle!:goodvibes
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hey all! Working both jobs so I am at the FT job until 5, then at the PT job until 9:45. Long day, but as I said before, you do what you gotta do;)
Our Christmas decorations are still up and it is driving me crazy. Jim is going to do the outside decorations on Saturday (assuming we don't get snow like they are calling for:headache:) and then we will do the inside Saturday evening when I get home from work, and then finish it up on Sunday. I am officially now sick of looking at the stuff.
Jimmy is excited because scouts is starting back after the 2 week break for the holidays. He really missed it:goodvibes This week they get their blocks of wood to make their Pinewood Derby cars. T = is Evans pack doing a derby? It's tons of fun. We also have a couple of trips coming up. We are going to the Phantoms (AHL Hockey) game, the Flyers (NHL Hockey) game, the National Constituion Center and an overnight at Fort Mifflin. We aren't doing the overnight part, but we are going to do the daytime stuff. (It is a Haunted sleepover and Jimmy would freak! That's more for the older kids)
So, yeah things won't be slowing down much;)
Dad got back to FLA safely and quite happily. It was too cold for him and when he heard we might get more snow he bid a hasty retreat:laughing:
Hope you all have a great day:hug:. The week is now 1/2 over:yay:
:rotfl2: You should try the Kinect Dance Central. No remotes, and it scans your whole body, so you HAVE to move exactly like the dancer.
I don't mind the remote - pooe Leo would never make it if he had to do it all exactly, lol! He very nearly had a meltdown because his score was lower than mine as it is. :rolleyes:
Not sure if I told you about the new teacher they hired to replace the teacher that passed away in Nov? Anyway, I met her before the break. She seems nice enough, and pretty strict, which we like. ;) Can't wait to hear how the day went.
Hope it went well!
I do need to be home in the afternoon, so I'm thinking retail or if I'm lucky I'll find a part-time admin position. Anyway, wish me luck. :teeth:
Absolutely - good luck! :wizard:
:hug::hug::hug::hug: Thanks for updating us - I hate that you guys are going through this. Hang in there and make sure you're taking care of you, too. :hug:
V, glad school is sorted! Did you say you started again today? :goodvibes
I do't go back till Jan. 18. I'm milking every moment of time till then, lol!
Anyway, hope the first few days of the New Year have been good for you all. I'll probably be spotty again for a bit, with Dr. Belle around. With the working being only school-day, I'm finding that my afternoons/evenings aren't that much worse (particularly, let's face it, when I'm working only 2/3 days a week) so I hope to check in more often again once all the company's gone. ;)
:grouphug:
No worries - sounds like things are going well, albeit busy! Happy 2011 :hug:
Classes start back up on Monday and then I'll be counting down the days until Break Week at the end of Feb. :laughing:
:rotfl: I understand - I haven't even started yet and I'm dreaming of the end of the semester!
LMAO - I don't blame him! I'm glad you had a nice visit. :goodvibes :hug:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I forgot to update!

But there's nothing new to report. :rolleyes:

OH! But I forgot to mention before... we saw "Tron" over the weekend, and it was the BOMB-DIGGITY!!! Really, I went in with no expectations, never having seen the original, and was literally on the edge of my seat. It was fantastic! :thumbsup2

Jimmy wants to see it. I was leery about it because he didn't see the 1st one. Maybe I will rent over the weekend and then see if he still wants to see it.

Sorry - can't be rented; they haven't released it on DVD since I think 2000. I tried to get it from Netflix and then Googled when it wasn't shown as released, and discovered they've become HUGE collectors' items now! Weird, right? But honestly, I never saw it and had no problem with the new one; Disney made sure you don't need the back story to understand this one. :thumbsup2

ETA: and it's just about PERFECT for boys J and Leo's age - lots of action, it's about a video game, no romance-y stuff, and a big ol' fight between good and evil!

That's what I was hoping

Typo - stop b=making fun of me

It sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders and knows what she wants and what will work for her (That of course reflects on you: Will keep my fingers crossed for her.

Oh, and sorry about the Orange Bowl:

yeah yeah...now I'm glad I went to Miami in November!

LMAO! That's too funny!

Keep trying! It's the same for the Grand Canyon - book a year or so in advance or most rooms will be gone... BUT, the nice folks on Tripadvisor keep telling people to call daily - lots of people book early and then cancel, so opening do happen. Worth trying! :wizard:

Hmm... Just Dance 2 for Wii comes with 40 songs and each song has a choreographed dance routine for it. People on the screen perform the moves, you hold a Wii remote in-hand and follow along. I've been surprised by how advanced the dance moves can be! Honestly, you guys know I'm a former dancer, and I was afraid it wouldn't be challenging... WRONG! But I'm also trying to do everything exactly as shown; legs, arms, back, head, etc. In reality, you can just move the hand with the remote to the right places and score high, lol! Leo loves it

Any time. :hug: I understand what you mean - while Leo isn't a high achiever, he's extremely imaginative and very much a spatial learner - he views all information in pictures (which is, in part, why the movie Temple Grandin touched my heart so). There's not a lot available here to give him what he needs, either, so he does a good chunk of his learning at home. It's frustrating, I know. :hug:

LOL, I love it!

We tried to book at Yosemite--and the only thing available was a tent with a bear locker........D was excited but Ab was not amused! :lmao:

So we found a nearby condo for 2 nites--hoping they have some fireworks on the 4th to scare the bears!

:rotfl2: You should try the Kinect Dance Central. No remotes, and it scans your whole body, so you HAVE to move exactly like the dancer. 2 songs and I'm finished! :lmao:

JenV- That's a tough one. I often think I need to to have Maddie evaluated. She's a high acheiver, but a complete worry wart and has complete melt-downs about not being "perfect", when in fact she is making perfect marks. Poor kid's in 3rd grade and about to crack....

The good thing about our school, is while each grade is a level playing field, there are teachers who go above and beyond the norm for students like Maddie. I'm lucky enough that I can rally and make sure my kids are with who I believe will help them acheive.

TE - Sorry about VT. TE & Waldo are ecstatic, though. Sanford's my brothers alma mater.

Janet - Love that Jimmy's enjoying the Wii. You might want to look into the UDraw for the Wii. It's very cool!:thumbsup2

*******************************************************
Good morning everyone!

Not much going on here. Got the kids off to school this morning with only minimal tears. Ah, that Maddie - already freaking out about her new teacher.:sad2: Not sure if I told you about the new teacher they hired to replace the teacher that passed away in Nov? Anyway, I met her before the break. She seems nice enough, and pretty strict, which we like. ;) Can't wait to hear how the day went.

Hitting up the internet for some part-time work. As much as I love being home, I really feel the need to get out there and work a little bit, if only for my mental health. ;) I do need to be home in the afternoon, so I'm thinking retail or if I'm lucky I'll find a part-time admin position. Anyway, wish me luck. :teeth:

Oh and it's January 4th and I already broke my diet. Someone just harpoon me already!:headache:

Have a great week!!:hippie:

yeah---my story is that we had to play on California time and that's why we lost in the 2nd half.....:rolleyes1 I'm gonna stick to that one...nothing about that Luck guy being a really good player or anything....;)

Really, but we don't cheer over here :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Tomorrow is major clean/tidy/iron etc day oh and dye my hair too I'm soooo grey it's frightening!
;)

I meant UK as in University of Kentucky! :lmao:

And NO cheerleaders? They will come---All star cheerleading is huge in Australia now so it will get there soon! If tumbling and trampolining (the real kind!) are popular, all star cheer will be too!

I cashed in sheraton points (got free points from amex promotion) and booked the Sheraton Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco. As I've said, I've never been to CA...so any thoughts appreciated! It looks good on the internet and trip advisor).

the parking there is $50 a night tho so we may dump the rental car---do you all think we will need it there? Can you take those cable cars? We watched Full house a lot but that's all the knowledge we really have!

The girls want to do a night tour of Alcatraz....what else??

Do you then get a spring break too?:confused3

Break Week at the end of Feb is our version of Spring Break. Classes end at the beginning of April and then exams run throughout April so we are done the school year by May. Instead of calling it Spring Break they call it Reading Week as you can't very well call it a spring break in Feb! ;) I guarantee that very little reading gets done during reading week. :rolleyes:

:rotfl: I understand - I haven't even started yet and I'm dreaming of the end of the semester!

:laughing: Here's hoping the semester goes by quickly! Can't wait until the summer!

Thank you everyone and thank you Kat for getting the word out.
Remember we're here whenever you need us :hug:

how long is Em back before the move to Switzerland?
She goes Sunday night, for thr forseeable future she's flying there on Sundays and home on Thursdays! Glad the work is going well, good luck with tennis and have fun with Dr Belle :goodvibes

She was playing Wii golf. She got a Bogey and started dancing. We asked her why. Her response: Because the game told me to boogie:lmao:
Awww bless :rotfl2: Don't wear yourself out at work and we need photos of Jimmy's car :thumbsup2

Nooooooo David really wants to go, he loved the original, but the girls and I are saying no :rotfl2:

I meant UK as in University of Kentucky! :lmao:
:snooty: The only UK is here :snooty: :rotfl2:

There are a few but nothing like you have, we just don't get into stuff like you do!!!!

My house is clean and tidy and I like it :thumbsup2 OK I didn't quite do the bathrooms but.... :rotfl2: I did dye my hair though and whilst I was doing that I was on my laptop (did I tell you I have a nice shiny quick HP that Dad got me for Christmas?) I firstly won a £10 sports gift voucher then had an email saying I'd won a £350 cross trainer (will try and sell as I know it'll only end up as a clothes horse) and then finally another email saying I'd won a set of X Factor (like pop idol) Top Trumps only a little prize but hey it's a prize :thumbsup2

Tomorrow I need to grocery shop, do the bathrooms and then go practise my golf as I have matches on Friday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday :faint:

13. Alcatraz

I have heard that this such a cool tour!

Tomorrow I have a Stress Test ,

Good luck:goodvibes

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Morning all. Worked until 9:30ish last night. I'm tired. Working tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday but that's it until Wednesday again (THat's the second job of course, at the 1st job now). It wouldn't be bad, but it's not busy now so the time goes by sooooo slow:snail:

I will say this though..people are slobs. If these women leave their houses the way they leave the fitting rooms:scared1: Stuff thrown on the floor, hangars all over the place, etc. It gets annoying. If I did that my mother would have beat me;)

Not much else happening. We are supposed to get some snow tomorrow, but only 1 -3 inches, so it shouldn't cause too much chaos...hopefully:rolleyes:

Hope everyone has a great day.:goodvibes

Happy Thursday!

Jo- How on earth do you win all of these special prizes? It's great!

TE- I'd add China Town to T's, list. If it's still the same as when I was there it was really interesting!

Janet- I hear you on the clothing mess. People are disprectful! Would they want to buy clothes that someone else through all over a dressing room, stepped on and rumpled? Doubt it. I experience the same thing at G A P kids.

oh poo. I already forgot what I was going to say! My mind is a but frazzled this morning. I'm in a coffee shop getting ready to go tour the neighboring school district.

:rotfl2: It's is interesting, that's why it's first on my list. ;)

So, I have a bit of a dilemna going on here. Opinions needed, please!

Tuesday, Maddie came home with a letter from the school district saying she's tested high enough to be tested for Gifted and Talented Education (GATE). She asked me what that I meant and I explained it to her and now she doesn't want to take the test for fear that she won't qualify. She's so afraid to fail. Andy and I want her to go for it.
Anyway, I have to consent for the testing, and she's asked me to check the "NO" box. Obviously, I want her to at least try, but she's not one to take chances. I'm afraid she's always going to be like that. One of those who never really lives, because she's afraid to fail.
WWYD?

And where you are you know its not the kids:headache: I can just imagine what their houses look like:scared1:

I;m surprised. When they send that kind of stuff home here they ask you not to say anything to the child, so that it doesn't put the pressure on them one way or another. When Jimmy's letter came hoe it was in a sealed envelope addressed to us:confused3 We signed it and sent it back in a sealed envelope.

What abuot talking to the counselor or the teacher (who recommended her - in Jimmy's case it was his teacher,). to talk to her, maybe that would alleviate some of her fears???? Are any of her friends in school also going to be taking the test? Anyway to find out? Maybe if she knows she isn't the ONLY one that would also help?

Just some thoughts I threw out there:thumbsup2 Good luck:goodvibes:hug:

Here, it's not based on recommendation, it's based on test performance. I did ask her what other kids got the letter and she said 3 other kids in her class. I was going to speak to the director of special education and see what EXACTLY that program entails. Maybe if have more knowledge, she'll be more confident.
What she lacks is self-confidence and I don't know what more I can do to reassure her perfection is not "real".
