Team Focker Watch: Lucky Number 13!

I heard from my ortho last night. he got the MRI results and I will be heading under the knife when I get back from Disney just in time for the holidays.
You are a brave, brave woman. :worship: The very thought of surgery terrifies me!

V: What's going on with Leo? Anything we can help with? I'm no expert but having had kids in public school for many, many years I can say I've pretty much seen it all. :sad2:
If you don't want to share, just know that you ARE doing the right thing. You are supportive, loving and encouraging. That's the best possible thing you can do and it counteracts ANY bad teachers. Always. :hug:
Thanks Mel! :hug: He's got a great teacher this year - the problem is that Leo will not speak up when he needs help or doesn't understand something. Not with his teachers, not with me. Yesterday, rather than explain to his PE teacher that he didn't know how to do what was being asked, he flat out refused to participate. Then, rather than tell his teacher in class, or me at home, that he needed more explanation on how to round numbers, he just struggled for over an hour on homework. By the time I figured out that he wasn't dilly-dallying, but didn't know what he was doing, he was too over tired and frustrated to get through to. I do think it's a bump on the road, but I don't have time for bumps right now, lol! ;)

V- I agree with Mel on all counts Vegas. I lived there for a while a bunch of years back.
Thanks Kat! I never knew that - did you like living there?
These kitties are killin' me today! They run around and around...loudly...and then jump on us and scratch us in our sleep! Thats not the way to wake up!
Ah yes... I don't think I can ever do kittenhood again! :scared:

Don't tempt me Janet - I'd do nearly anything to get away right now, lol!

:lmao:

Morning! I spoke too soon about Leo doing well with school. :headache: I'm hoping last night's 2.25 hours of homework and tears was just a bump in the road. Because we sure as heck can't continue like that! :sad2: Tonight's his karate night, so I'm hoping that'll help him feel better about himself.

Poor kiddo! It will get better:hug:

Yikes! Good luck!

(who is OUTTA here, now that NB is gone! )

Not that you were impatient or anything:rotfl2:

Nov 2nd. Times Square. it's a Disney Store, not a World of Disney like the last store. I know a bunch of people going to work there and I plan to apply when it opens up. It's supposed to be ridiculous with a movie theater and a life size caslt play area!?!

Cool! I asked Jo is December 4th would work for her. She hasn''t been back since;) Is that good for you? I believe she said her dates are the 2nd - 6th?

I lived there for a while a bunch of years back. The only other thing I'd say is the Duece bus was great, it had an unlimited pass and we used it like crazy, and it runs up and down the strip, even goes all the way to Freemont ST, which has a huge awesome light show type thingie that we loved!

I didn't know that? Did you like it? I so want to go, but Jim has no interest:sad2:

This is the day that never ends. It just goes on and on my friends. Can you tell it's been a long day:rolleyes: Just want to get out of here.

Dawn, thank you - I'm sitting here in tears reading this! We're going through "stuff" with Leo and school. Again. And I needed that reminder. :hug: I'm so glad for Aiden - he must be feeling really good! :goodvibes

:goodvibes I'm glad I could help. :hug:

I was feeling bad about a hard decision I made today and A said just the right words and I started crying too. :lovestruc

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, I quit my job today. Today was hands down the worst day I've ever had at work. All the things they said and promised weren't really true. It was way too much stress for very little money. The new director totally didn't do anything to help us and I left almost in tears. :guilty:
I was feeling like a loser, but then I reminded myself that it was really hard on my family and hating that job wasn't worth it. I was just sitting down to check my email, etc. when out of the blue Aiden said, "Mommy, thank you for quitting your job so you could spend more time with us." Awwww... my heart. :lovestruc I started crying and told him thank you for saying just what I needed to hear whan I needed to hear it.
So, C came home and told me she made the talented and gifted program too. :yay: That makes me feel so good about their homeschooling years. They're good kids. :hug:
I'm emotionally drained, so I'm logging off for the night. Be good, friends! :goodvibes
Thanks Kat! I never knew that - did you like living there?
Ah yes... I don't think I can ever do kittenhood again! :scared:
I loved it there! It's kinda a cleaner version of NYC, everything open all night and always people around. It's one of the few places I might leave NY for!
Cool! I asked Jo is December 4th would work for her. She hasn''t been back since;) Is that good for you? I believe she said her dates are the 2nd - 6th?
That would be great for me! We are in NOLA from the 8th-11th so the 4th would be great! I'm so excited to see you guys again!
I didn't know that? Did you like it? I so want to go, but Jim has no interest:sad2:
It's a really fun city. I took KC there for his birthday a few years ago, he liked it but didn't love it. there's just something about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today was a poo-poo type of day! We got woken up by the cats which made us both cranky. We went to Costco but were seriously late getting to our friends house. Shopping was fine, we spent less than planned and got a bunch of good stuff, including a ton of meat, a freezers full worth.

Then we came home and KC was trying to defrost the freezer and it broke!!!!! He went and told the super and he said there is nothing he can do until tomorrow so we are carp out of luck till then. We had to find coolers to put the meat in, and there aren't many because the season is over. 5 stores later... then we got ice and now all our meat is in the shower in Styrofoam coolers. Needless to say I'm, stressed.

I am anticipating a ridiculous exchange with the realty company. I know they will get us a fridge BUT I also think they will charge us for it and I am not willing to pay for one, so a fight will probably ensue. There is still a hole in my bathroom for 5 months that they haven't fixed so that's my bargaining chip.

Anyways I'm gonna go eat some food so it doesn't go bad and drink lots of juice before its warm. LOL.

Night.

Poor Leo. I felt all qualified to offer assistance yesterday. Then Gus' Adv. LA teacher called and told me that he hadn't turned in a single assignment this year so far! :scared1::mad:
So, I confronted him and he cried and told me that he was afraid that I'd be mad that he was having a hard time with the class! :sad1:
I guess the point here is, it happens in the later grades too. It is likely a bump in the road, as you said. Love him, hug him and stay involved. If you need to, send the teacher a quick note saying that you noticed this or that. Communication is definitely the key.

Is it wrong that I am happy you'll be home on Tues and Thurs now? :yay:

*********************
Morning Fockers!
Enjoying my coffee this morning. AND....waiting for Dawn to change our ticker (or her ticker, as I'm too lazy to do one). We changed our trip last night to include Tuesday.
Guess we're having tea now........ :rolleyes:

MEL:banana:

Yesterday Aiden got a note home that the school thinks he would benefit from being in the talented and gifted program.

Nice!!! Good job, A!

CE - Have fun at tennis. DId you get my email?

Thanks, tennis was... Well, sadly, what I feared, more on that below. I did get your mail, but the kids haven't been on the computer for a few days. I told them about it, though! Woody lost computer privileges for being just nasty to Buzz. For a kid who makes teachers cry that he's so nice and thoughtful... Well... :rolleyes: :rotfl2:

Well the ultra sound was fine and all is well!:thumbsup2 No more B00b squishing until next year:woohoo:

Jim has an MRI on his shoulder tonight, so it will probably be pizza or Burger King for dinner tonight:sick:

Excellent for you, any word on Jim?

Morning! I spoke too soon about Leo doing well with school. :headache: I'm hoping last night's 2.25 hours of homework and tears was just a bump in the road. Oh, honey. :hug: I hope last night went better.

Ugh, that stinks... :hug:

::yes:: ;)

Sounds like Woody - won't ask for help, but gets uber-frustrated and then breaks down. Sigh. :hug: I'm sorry.

Way to go, C!!!

Then we came home and KC was trying to defrost the freezer and it broke!!!!!

Oh, no!

**********************************************************
Sorry, I actually did read all that yesterday, but didn't manage to reply. ;)

Tennis was not great. It was just what I feared with the beginner level team - we had the pro I'm not so fond of anyway, who talks a lot and talks to us like we're 8 - nice. Then, we had two newish people who don't yet have the basics. I have been there, and it's fine, but I don't need to be paying for a lesson while they get taught how to hit. I've been there, I get it - I don't blame them, it's this situation where I'm supposedly "at their level" even though I'm clearly not.

Anyway, that was frustrating. But, I did go to Target and the grocery store, then dyed my hair and got the kids to karate, made dinner, etc.

D has asked me to go up to the boat with him today, get some lunch, race back for the bus. Since he's now had 2 more days added to this trip and he'll be gone until Oct. 3, starting tomorrow, I feel like I should spend time with him, :rotfl: so I need to go get dressed.

I had planned on my crock pot Italian beef last for dinner and intended to put it in last night, but totally forgot. It technically has enough time, according to the recipe, since I got it in early this a.m., but it won't be as tender, which is too bad. :guilty:

Anyway, I must go dress in millions of layers - it's 51 up there now and only supposed to get to 63, with wind! Joy!! :rolleyes1 :lmao: (At least it's sunny...) We'll be back for the bus, so I'll likely be back later! Have a good day, everyone! :grouphug:

Well, if Jo would just check in now:rolleyes1

This must be the week for homework...see below:sad2:

Gee, didn't see that one coming a mile away:lmao:

Jimmy lost his computer time yesterday due to homework stuff too:sad2:

Excellent for you, any word on Jim?

He had the MRI done, but of course the won't tell y ou anything. We have the films, but since neither one of us knows what the heck we are looking at it's kind of pointless;) Now that it is done I have to call and make him aother appointment.

SO, as I said to Mel this must be the week from heck regarding the kids and homework. I went to pick Jimmy up at after school care his homework was not done. Now, I don't mind if it is not completely done, but it wasn't even started. He told the after school teacher that he didn't have homework. Then he started crying and saying that it is just too hard for him, etc. I looked at his notebook and it wasn't too hard. I feel horrible becasue it was my fault. I forgot to send his homework dose medication:sad2: So after I finally got him calmed down we went home and got his homework done. He did lose TV and computer privelages though. Medication or not, he was completely out of line,especially lying to the teacher.

So, we had a fairly quiet night. We played some games and just hung out.

Nothing on the agenda for today. Just hoping today is better. We remembered to send the homework medication. Fingers crossed.

Hope everyone has a great day:goodvibes

GEEZ, has it been the week from hell for us Fockers, or what?! :grouphug: all around!

Oh hunny! :hug::hug::hug: I'm so sorry.

Then we came home and KC was trying to defrost the freezer and it broke!!!!!
:sad2: Ugh, been there. Hands-down, the worst appliance to break unexpectedly... and I've gone through the HVAC break, washer break, dryer break and hot water heater break. Fridge is worst. Hope the meat gets through till a new one arrives!

Poor Leo. I felt all qualified to offer assistance yesterday. Then Gus' Adv. LA teacher called and told me that he hadn't turned in a single assignment this year so far! :scared1::mad:

OMG! :eek: :hug: What is it with thee boys? Is this just the early version of refusing to ask for directions?! ITA, I probably over-communicate with Leo's teachers; I just want them to know what I'm seeing at home, in case it's different from what they see, y'know? I'm sorry Mel; here's to our bumps being done for the year! :wizard:
Guess we're having tea now........ :rolleyes:
Yay! Tea is good. ::yes::

Oh, honey. :hug: I hope last night went better.
Thanks - it kind of did - no math homework at least, lol! But it took him f o r e v e r to do his grammar work. :headache:
Sounds like Woody - won't ask for help, but gets uber-frustrated and then breaks down. Sigh.
Again - WHAT is it with these boys?! :hug:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morning! Is it Sat. yet? :rolleyes:
Because I've not yet had enough "fun" this week...
*My aunt is in the hospital with a blood clot in her leg, infectious colitis, and pancreatitis. Good times for her.
*My ex is being his usual insane self, at my expense.
*I just balanced my checking account... and I have a whopping $-17. Yes, negative. Luckily I practice Fuzzy Banking, so there's always an extra $70ish in there that I don't count, lol!
Oh, and in the neither good nor bad department, we're back to thinking we'll fly in and out of Phoenix for our SW trip. Why? Vegas is too close to Idaho. ;)
:sad2: Ugh, been there. Hands-down, the worst appliance to break unexpectedly... and I've gone through the HVAC break, washer break, dryer break and hot water heater break. Fridge is worst. Hope the meat gets through till a new one arrives!
::yes:: Last year (when I was still in FLA sick) JIm went food shopping when they got home, spent $300, and that night there was a brown out:eek:
Oh my heck - it IS a bad week all around! :hug: Beginning of a new school year maybe? I hope we all get a reprieve soon!
Me too:goodvibes
:grouphug: Hugs to everyone this week...
We just have to keep doing what we know is right and best for our kiddos. :lovestruc
Well, if Jo would just check in now:rolleyes1
Right?! LOL Where is she??
I have told Jim that it is going to be one of those trips after we retire...he can come with me or not;)
:rotfl:
Oh no! No neighbors to help out?
We don't really talk to any of our neighbors that much, esp. not enough to ask fro help. We ended up with the coolers we needed so it was ok. I haven't looked yet today if the stuff is still cold, really I dont wanna know yet.
:sad2: Ugh, been there. Hands-down, the worst appliance to break unexpectedly... and I've gone through the HVAC break, washer break, dryer break and hot water heater break. Fridge is worst. Hope the meat gets through till a new one arrives!
Yea and the way my realty company treats us if you don't stay on them it could be who-knows-when when they actually do something.
Morning! Is it Sat. yet? :rolleyes:
Well here's a few :hug::hug::hug::hug: . ANd I get the fuzzy banking, I try and practice that myself!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's way to early to be cranky already.

I am currently in the waiting time for these people tog et us a refrigerator. I asked KC to deal with them,because in my past experience i can't handle the girl in the office because common sense is not her strong suit (I.E. "You can't see bed bugs so you must not have them").

So all I asked him to do was call, call and ask them to get us a general time when it was coming because I need to empty it out. We left everything besides freezer stuff in it with a bag of ice hoping it'd stay colder that way.

He gets up, he calls.....and he does what he always does...doesn't ask any questions. "Thanks , yea, ok" is all I hear.

"He said give it a while they will bring one up".
:confused3:confused3:confused3

What is it with men?????

It's been almost an hour. KC and I aren't speaking right now. LOL.

I really need coffee.

Thanks for the vent. The story will continue........

:sad1: WHy does NYC have to be so far from FL?!
And why does the US have to be so far from the UK? :rotfl2: Great photo of you and Mo!

Jo I will have to look to see if I can swing an early December NYC weekend !!!:banana:
Yay but is it a long way?

Jo, I'd love to try and come see you - shoot me an e-mail with dates, and I'll see what I can do! I love the train.
Will do, not sure at the moment though as not sure what definite days Em needs me!

JO: You like that, huh? I was being all British and whatnot....LOL
I read it with an English accent :rotfl2:

Yesterday Aiden got a note home that the school thinks he would benefit from being in the talented and gifted program. I'm so excited, because his teacher last was such a hormonal pill, that she would tell him he couldn't read harder books because he wasn't ready.
Wooohoooo

Well the ultra sound was fine and all is well!:thumbsup2 No more B00b squishing until next year:woohoo:
Fantastic!

I heard from my ortho last night. he got the MRI results and I will be heading under the knife when I get back from Disney just in time for the holidays. I have torn cartilage and a Baker's cyst, which is basically the inflamation causing fluid to build up on the knee.
Yikes, good luck!

Nov 2nd. Times Square. it's a Disney Store, not a World of Disney like the last store. I know a bunch of people going to work there and I plan to apply when it opens up.
Didn't you hate working for Disney? How's the job search going?

Cool! I asked Jo is December 4th would work for her. She hasn''t been back since;)
Well I hoped you'd get the hint but.... ;) JK :rotfl2:

So, I quit my job today. Today was hands down the worst day I've ever had at work.
I'm so sorry but it sounds as though it was for the best :hug:

Guess we're having tea now........ :rolleyes:
:rotfl2:

What a PITA you've been playing too long to be in that class is there really no other options?

Well, if Jo would just check in now:rolleyes1
:rotfl2: and sorry about the homework stuff!

Because I've not yet had enough "fun" this week...
:hug:

So all I asked him to do was call, call and ask them to get us a general time when it was coming because I need to empty it out. We left everything besides freezer stuff in it with a bag of ice hoping it'd stay colder that way.
I hope they come soon!

Not much going on here, yesterday I played a golf comp and didn't play that great, can't win them all huh :rotfl: Today I've had Jess off ill, she feels faint and sick and slept for quite a bit. I can't believe that after only 1.5 weeks at school she is off already. She seems fine now though and I think I need to send her to bed earlier as I'm sure she just gets exhausted!

I've spent all day tidying, ironing etc as the inlaws are coming Saturday and D and I are off to the spa Sunday to Monday so I'm even tidying drawers and cupboards as they'll need to go in them :rotfl:

Hi there girls! :) I miss you!! I told you I'd be back when I got the kids off to school. :rotfl: Here I am! :hippie:

Bug hugs to everyone with poo poo in their lives this week. :grouphug:

Kids are off to school, tomorrow will be 1 whole week for Tink! :cool1: She is loving school. I'm very impressed with her teacher, she is newer to our school, so I didn't know too much about her before. She had done her research about all of her students and the first day of school there was someone in the class to start helping TInk with her fine motor skills and helping her catch up with Letter and number writing and identification. :thumbsup2 Tink attended 2.5 years of PreK, yet she still is struggling. :confused:

DS's class is large. 29! But yesterday the school board approved to add a teacher, so the class size will drop to 21-22 by the end of the week. We are unsure if he'll be one of the children moved, but he'll be fine either way. He is out of his class for a large chunk of his day for Language Arts and Math.

This weekend is scrapfest. Archivers (MN based Scrapbooking store) takes over a large part of the main level of the Mall of America to hold a fun weekend of classes and make and takes. There are about 30 vendors who come. It's a ton of walking and standing in line, but so fun to try new things! I look at it as training for WDW this fall!

I just started selling on ebay this weekend. Does anyone have any helpful hints or strategies that may help?

:grouphug: Hugs to everyone this week...

We just have to keep doing what we know is right and best for our kiddos. :lovestruc

::yes:::hug:

IThe story will continue........

SO have they shown up yet?

I read it with an English accent

Don't read everything with an English accent:rotfl2:

Wooohoooo

Well I hoped you'd get the hint but.... ;) JK :rotfl2:

:sad1:

Not much going on here, yesterday I played a golf comp and didn't play that great, can't win them all huh :rotfl: Today I've had Jess off ill, she feels faint and sick and slept for quite a bit. I can't believe that after only 1.5 weeks at school she is off already. She seems fine now though and I think I need to send her to bed earlier as I'm sure she just gets exhausted!

What time do they have to get up in the morning?

Jimmy was the same way. He was in daycare/ps and still had the fine motor skill problem. He still works on it with his OT!

What grade is he in again? There are 20 kids in Jimmy's class. It's perfect!

I remember you went to this last year????

I have never sold on ebay, just bought stuff

Jo- 30 in a class? :scared1: Is that just for higher grades? In Tink's K class there are 14 (DS had 17), 1st 21, 2nd 22 and now 3rd 29, but soon to be 21-22.

Janet- DS is in 3rd this year. Man time went fast. Tink is falling in this "grey" area where she is behind in Fine Motor and Retention, but no where near qualifying for Sp. Ed. It's so different than what we deal with DS. He is so far advanced (believe me that isn't easy either!), I don't know what is normal.

What kinds of things did you do to help Jimmy?

here the average class size is 30!!!!

That's the average hear as they get into the older grades!

Hey you know I was kidding, I can't wait to meet you again :hug:[/QUOTE}

I know! LY :hug: :yay:

They leave at 7.15am and they're up around 6am :faint:

Wow, what time do they get home?

What kinds of things did you do to help Jimmy?

Believe it or not, one of the things his OT does with him. Do you have an easel? Get some paper with the dotted lines on it - The kind for practicing writing. Put that on the easel, put Tink in Roller skates, have her skate around once or twice, then stop and write a letter. Believe it or not it really helps with getting the body moving and also getting him to concentrate on what he is doing! The OT does it in this huge room, but we just practice in our drive way. It's also heloed with his skating skills:lmao:

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION

JImmy's Homework was done without a fight or a tear shed

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
