Good Morning all. Auditors here for the next 2 days, so it is crazy around here:headache: Hopefully I can hide in my office all day and no one will notice me:rolleyes1

HAve a great day everyone!:goodvibes

Morning Fockers! :wave:

So, it's cold down here. Which wouldn't be bad, except, catch this: the idiots in the FL legislature approved our electric company's request to increase rates 25%!!! :faint: My normal winter bill hovers around $300, so this is gonna be BAD. I explained to my mother, in light of this news, that we will not be setting the heat at her preferred temp of 71 this winter. She rebelled and said "just turn the hot water heater off during the day!" Oh yes, that'll be much more helpful than lowering the heat temp. :rolleyes: And oh so pleasant when I forget to turn it back on and have to give Leo a cold shower. The woman drives my nuts. I told her I'll buy her a sweater for Xmas. ;)

YIkes, 25% :faint: DO you turn the heat down during the day when no one is home. We started doing this and noticed a huge change in the bill. 71 degrees:eek: I'd be in shorts;)

:hug: Morning Fockers!!!

Hope everyone has a beautiful day!!!

Where is everyone??? THe one day I can play on the Dis and no one is around. I'm bored...somebody please come entertain me:flower3:

Can you believe it?! :mad:

Can't - Gramma's home most of the day, which is the biggest problem. :rolleyes: If I could just open the windows when it warms up during the day, things would be better, but our allergies are so horrendous right now we can't. Add in a concrete building and the inside temp will stay low, even though it warms up outside.

Dude - I ordered a dozen ... in a cute pink box ... with bows on their ... errr.. nevermind. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Omgosh. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Also saw Baby Mama and it was better than I expected, but definately a chick flick, and with all this Christmas music talk I'm watching a movie called This Christmas. :3dglasses popcorn::

Hi Z!!!
Thanks for the movie reviews, they help. I might rent Baby Mama for when Bob's in Japan. He would NOT enjoy it!

Morning, Fockers. :goodvibes
We're getting ready to go on a field trip this morning. :yay: Once we get home we can chillax and spend time together as this is the only night this week we're all going to be home. :grouphug:

Be good and I'll check back when we get home. :flower3:

Hi Dawn, Bye Dawn!
Have fun on your field trip! Wanna hear all about it later.

Bob has lowered our heat to 67. I'm freezing to death. I told him to expect to find a frozen, grumpy faced Muffin on the couch when he gets home. It's only 20 degrees outside! Even though he keeps trying to convince me that it doesn't matter what it says OUTSIDE, that the thermostat INSIDE says 67 and it's really 67. It FEELS colder near the windows and doors....

Anyhow, that's a huge elec. bill. Ours is only about 125 a month during the hottest summer months with AC and a bit less in winter. We have gas heat but even that's only about 100 a month during winter....

Sorry about Gma. It's warm in Bangladesh....

I'm here. But not for long..........
********************************

Morning everyone! I'm going to go out and do some errands soon so I won't be around here till tonight. Bob and I had a nice relaxing morning together and now he's off to the office.

I'm trying to make a list of things to do with the kids while he's gone. There is NOTHING to do in this God-Forsaken State! Ugh. There's a serious lack of CULTURE here. It's so sad.

Hope you guys have a good day!

I agree 100%. And my condo was built in 1979, to Florida standards. Read: the windows SUCK. Single-pane, full of open spaces around the frames... I'm hitting Home Depot this weekend to look for plastic to put over the biggest ones.
Sorry about Gma. It's warm in Bangladesh....

I know, right?! When questioned about approving it, the Powers That Be said, "We know this will nearly impossible for those on fixed incomes to handle, but we had no choice." What I heard: "Yeah, we know this is going to seriously screw up a lot of people's lives, but we want our shareholders checks!"

Hi Carrie! :wave:

Oh.. BTW.. if Y'all got an e-mail from Jo for those "throw blankets"... I ordered one for all of you !!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Merry Christmas Ladies
:rotfl2:

When exactly is Thanksgiving????

Dude - I ordered a dozen ... in a cute pink box ... with bows on their ... errr.. nevermind. :rolleyes1 :lmao:
:rotfl2:

There were only two other people in the waiting room to experience the rather vocal argument between my younger two over who got which chair. :blush:
Why do kids always want what each other have got :sad2:

Tell her to put a sweater and slippers on :rotfl2: No seriously just reducing it by 1 degree will save you money :thumbsup2

I woke up this morning feeling as though I'd pinched a nerve in my neck, I still went to golf though and played OK especially seeing as though I could hardly move my neck :rotfl2: I then came home and had a fight with the vacuum, it nearly won but I had it in the end!!!! The roller had tons of hair around it :scared: and when I removed it the roller came off and it took me about an hour to get it back on, I now have a very sore finger where I trapped it :mad: Anyway I eventually did it :rotfl2:

I'm giving somewhat serious consideration to buying a Wii. Anyone care to condone or condemn this idea?!

Here's my thought:

Thanks to allergies and asthma, there are big chunks of time when neither Leo nor I can exercise or play outdoors. I get on my treadmill inside, but only after Leo's in bed, so we don't do much together that's physical. I'm kind of seeing Wii as an opportunity to move around and have fun together. Am I on track with that idea?

Here's my fear:

Will the thing be obsolete in a year? Two years? 5 years?! Really, that's a lot of cheddar for me, so I'm worried. Also, we don't do traditional gaming, so it won't be used for regular video games, only educational/fitness type stuff. And maybe the occasional round of Dr. Mario if I can get it. :rolleyes1

V I would definitely recommend a Wii, my Mum even wants one for Christmas after playing ours :rotfl: My girls have a PS2 and hardly play it whereas the Wii is much better, especially as it gets you moving. I would stick to the sports games that it comes with and Olympics is good, we don't do shooting beat you up games here!

That's exactly what I need to know - so it already comes with some games? What else would I need? I've managed to avoid video games completely with Leo so far, but I kind of think it might be good to introduce the concept now, at a time when I can push the types of games I think are appropriate, y'know?

Next Thursday the 27th :goodvibes

Sorry about the fight with the vacuum Jo. I've had those fights and they're very annoying.

Not much of a console video gamer anymore, but it does seem to be very popular among the kids. As for being obsolete/replaced, not anytime soon. Check out this article:

Hello all1 I'm back from NYC in one piece! Shrek was good, but I think I'd wait for the national tour to take kids, there was a lot of belching and farting, which you expect from Shrek. However, there was also an entire verse of a song using terms of blow (in the colloquial adjective context), but something I'd take into account if I were taking the boys (9 and 12).

My little brother got one and it came with a sports game (baseball, tennis, golf I think they were :confused: ). Ummm be careful w/ the controls because their wireless and I know when it first came out there were reports of them flying out of peoples' hands, but I think they may have fixed this problem with some strappy thing (but not sure). You'll most likely have to buy a second controller though since the majority of consoles don't include 2 controllers. Also, it plays the Nintendo Gamecube games.

Try checking out ebay to see if you can get it a little cheapers. I bought my brother's Xbox 360 on ebay 2 years ago and it was Brand New in box (ebay code: NIB) and he's had no problems ::::knock on wood:::::

Welcome back Hedy!

So, pictures? popcorn::

We're home finally. We went to a nutcracker museum and pecan orchard. It was alright. I was glad for the social time I got. ;)
I took a couple of pictures for my yearbook I want to make for the kids.

~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sitting here freezing too. It's 69 inside, but my house stays so cold, I swear. It's great in the summer as it stays cooler, but these few months it's cold, it's so frustrating. What's annoying is it's 73 outside, so you can't wear the sweatshirt and pants with fuzzy slippers and socks without sweating if you leave. I guess I should crank up the heat so we can be more comfortable in here. :confused3 It's a lot of laundry this time of year. :sad2: :laundy:
We have one at the office. It was a mental health purchase. :rolleyes1 I agree with the recommendation of the sports games. After a particularly trying meeting or project, we can play the tennis or bowling game to relieve some stress. My coworkers are fond of the golf, but I'm not really a golfer. Anyway it's good to get up and away from the computer screen for a bit.
From a computing power and graphics standpoint, both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have it beat, but I actually prefer the lower power (less reality) side of it as a parent. I prefer the focus on it being a game, and not reality.
Anyway, back to working from home, I had to meet the school bus again today. I'm pleasantly surprised snack has lasted this long without some kind of argument breaking out. :cloud9:
