I'm finally here and all of you are gone for the night....

The piano recital was great. DD7 did such a great job. Some of the other kids got messed up and had to start over, etc., but she did such a great job! I bought a flower to give her from my mom since she couldn't be there. I think it did the trick. When we got home, she had to call my mom and tell her all about it. I'm in the process of uploading the video to YouTube and I'll post the link once it's done.

Now, I'm off to work on the tree. If I can get it up and fluffed tonight, we can decorate it in the morning. That will make me happy. Then, Disney on Ice and Christmas party tomorrow night. Now if DD4 will cooperate and sleep all night and get better...

Im watching Jeff Dunham on comedy central while trying to figure out my new mini laptop. its really cute. cant get used to the touch pad! and Steve is snoring next to me!

Just got off phone with my sister! OMG. A huge tree fell on her house. They have $30000 in damages. Whole back of house demolished, roof demolished, water pouring into house down through the walls! She's got no power and a new baby! Christmas presents ruined! Oh my god.
They are so broke, they each work 3 jobs to afford that house and it's only 850 square feet. Not much, but at least theirs.

She's on her way to my mom's to drop off the two older kids (they only have one extra room!) and they are taking the baby to a friends apartment.

Prayers Fockers!!!! She needs prayers!

As it turns out, Doug isn't working tomorrow. We'll go see the movie, go to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and go see lights. I asked Doug if he wanted to go to Gordman's and find a nice sweater or 2 since he owns none. You should have seen the look I got. The dude wears T-shirts 24/7. Even in winter. I was just thinking that we might go out to eat somewhere nice while we are in NC. As in 'no T-shirts allowed' nice. Fashion is such a struggle with him. He is the pickiest male I know when it comes to his jeans though.

I slept till 10.30am this morning, will I ever catch up? The girls had been busy moving furniture around in the lounge so we have room for the tree Don't think I can get away with not putting it up today

Later we have my Golf Club Presentation where I have to get the cup I won with my mixed partner, remember it was was meant to be a while ago and when we got there it had been cancelled. It had better be on today!

I was up way too early today! I didn't get to bed until after 2am last night because my dinner decided to revisit me, if you know what I mean. So, after paying my respects to the porcelain god, I finally got to sleep. Then, of course, the girls are up at 7:30am, even though they went to bed over an hour later than normal! And I woke up with a headache...

Oh well, I'm up now, so I think we'll decorate the tree. The inlaws are coming over at 1:30 to head to our 3:00 showing of Disney on Ice. I would love to have the tree decorated and the house cleaned up before they get here.

They have homeowner's insurance. They came out to try to get the tree off but there was so much ice it was dangerous to climb up. SO, there is still water pouring into her house! OMG. Thanks so much Katt!

Well, I don't have much of an update unfortunately. She and Doug took the baby to a friend's apartment. The insurance people were coming out today and the "dry out the water" people too. IF they can get the tree off the roof, they need to get that tarped or temporarily fixed so that they can start drying out. She hasn't called me this morning so I'm not sure what's going on. I don't know if they house is LIVABLE even if they get the tarp on the roof. NO heat, no electricity...etc. AND a new baby!

I just had to come on and say THANK YOU. My heart about burst when I read all the offers of help. You are such angels. When I tell her about your offers, I'm sure she'll be so touched that people she doesn't even know wanted to help. HOW did I get so lucky!!!????

I know we say it alot here but I love you guys. I really do.

By the way, someone asked how old her children are. They are: Emily 13, Timothy 10 and Nate 4 months!!!

I will update as soon as I know. And thanks again. You guys make me proud to be your friend.

Mel, that sounds like such a mess but hopefully the professionals will know how to clean everything up. We'll wait to hear what they need.


The party last night was fun. We payed that silly game, open or take away a present. I took away a Burt's Bees set and then the girl's boyfriend took it back from me. Taking from the bosses wife! I had a candle set but somehow ended trading with a girl who had a chocolate set because she's diabetic. Like I need all that chocolate!

It's a nice sunny day here but cold, only to get to 65. Mitch wants to do something "fun". To him, fun is cutting the hibiscus!

Oh Mel how terrible for your sister !! Glad they have insurance but that prolly wont cover everything !! Do you have any Lutheran Churshes in her area as they have Thrivent for Lutherans that is an non profit investment comp and they do lots of community projects and one is a disaster program that could help a lot !! See being non profit they have to invest profits into charitable works !!This would definately meet the criteria !!
