Wow where is everyone? It's been a beautiful day here, Ellie is still outside playing. We're hoping to get to the safari park tomorrow if it stays nice, hopefully we'll get further this time than just packing the picnic like last week :rotfl2:
Thank you. It was a nice day here too. Hope your picnic went well.
Well, I survived the race this morning. It was actually fun.
Glad you had fun at your race. Since you don't know the official time you get to make it up right? ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's see. I am sick. Jon is sick.
Hope you get feeling better :hug:
instead of having him here with me for a week hes gone for 2 weeks!
I'm sorry :hug: Hope you had fun with all the festivities anyway.
I'm watching Britain's got talent, I assume you've all heard about last weeks show with Susan Boyle :thumbsup2
No, I didn't hear anything. did something big happen?
Debra: sounds like a nice day - shopping is always good. ;)
*********************************************
I passed my boat exam this morning with no issues, but didn't much want to be up to do it. ;) Got home and the candle stuff had come in.
thanks. it was fun. And :woohoo: on passing the boat exam. When are you taking us all out?
:banana: Our offer was accepted! :banana:
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Not much going on here, still sort of cleaning little things here and there, trying to get the laundry together (it's a lot since we have been busy and haven't done any) and soon we are going to head out for a walk. I need a reading light to attach to my bookshelf and I also need some ice cream, not necessarily in that order.
:lmao:
How much do you usually spend on wedding gifts. I was looking for bridal shower gifts and a wedding gift.
For me it all depends on how close they are to me and what my current financial situation is. For just casual co-workers or general members of my church I spend $10-$20 or go in with friends for a group gift. For family and close friends I spend $20-$40. But i am pretty cheap so maybe I am not a good person to take gift giving information from :goodvibes
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
What else is on my list today... oil change, more laundry, more housework, and weeding.
oil change - nope, laundry - nope, housework - as little as possible, and no weeding either. Wow I did absolutely nothing on my list today :sad2:
I have a question for you guys. How much do you usually spend on wedding gifts. I was looking for bridal shower gifts and a wedding gift. I dont have too much money, but they are very close to marc and I. I just wanted to see what average is. Thanks!:thumbsup2
As a college student (we were amongst the last of our friends to tie the knot) I would generally go about $50 on the wedding and $30 for a shower. I do a bit more now that we have money, but... I still often go in with my best friend and it's not that much more for a nice present. :thumbsup2
thanks. it was fun. And :woohoo: on passing the boat exam. When are you taking us all out?
Come on up any time after 5/10! :goodvibes
*****************************************************
We had a nice dinner out, but we have two very tired kiddos. MIL leaves around 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, so nothing much up until then, and no plans after at the moment.
Forgot to mention something I saw in the race this morning. There was actually a "Team Focker" in the race!!!!
I was going to say $50 for the wedding gift. Now, for the shower, is there a theme for it? Would you buy her lingerie or kitchen stuff? I guess it would depend on what you're buying, but I would think $20-30 would be about right.
Glad you had fun at your race. Since you don't know the official time you get to make it up right? ;)
Well, I just checked the time stamp on my pictures and I figured that we completed the 5K in 1 hour & 13 minutes. I took a picture of the starting line and a picture of the finish line, so I was able to figure it out. We would have been done faster had we been able to walk without people in front of us. Next year, maybe we'll try to start nearer to the front of the crowd.
I'd go with about $50 for the wedding and $30 for the shower. Shower I'd go in on it with someone too, if you can. The one thing I learned from planning our wedding is you pay per person and only hope to get back what you put in and an average per person is $50 so that should cover it.
So we went for thew walk and tried to find a desk light, but didn't. BUT we did go to Cold Stone and I got me some yummy chocolate ice cream with strawberries and brownies in it! KC had a cake batter shake. We came home and ate some sandwiches, backwards I know, and watched Lost from this week.
Now I am trying to get him to go to the 24 hour laundromat because we NEED to do laundry. There is a laundry room in our building but the dryers never seem to dry very well and it's a tad more expensive at the 24 hour place it's much nicer to have everything dry when you get it home.
So I took one more pic of the TV unit I forgot to share...
Iron Chef was on the TV, LOL. But thats KC's new baby- he named it SA (pronounced SAH) after "savings account" which is what we spent to get it!
Anyways I'm off to play some computer games I think. Have a great night all!
Wow. you guys spending $50 on a wedding gift is making me feel awful cheap. Perhaps it is a regional thing? because i am sure most of my friends all spend about the same amount as I do. Either that or all of my friends are cheap :rolleyes1
Did you notice that the sign is held by a dust mob?:lmao:
Kat i really liked this picture of the tv unit. It looks really great. I like the way you arranged all your knick knacks:thumbsup2
Thanks everyone for the advice on the wedding stuff. I think i was just about even with what everyone suggested. I just got her stuff from the target registry, but im also going to get her a nice frame too. She loves her pictures so i think it will be something a little more special. Today i got 2 board games she wanted. I also got a tablecloth, napkins and napkin rings. I would have gotten the placemats too but they were out.:headache: All together it came to about $90. :scared1: Thats alot for me, but it will be from marc and i both so i think it will be just fine.:thumbsup2 My bank account still feels a little shocked, but itll recover hopefully. Now i need to figure out what to give her when. I dont think theres a theme for the shower, so i dont know if it really matters.
I kind of laughed when i saw her registry because i realized how different our needs are. She has a lot of basic stuff on her registry which is fine. I just realized that i already have all that stuff. Marc and i did all that kind of shopping when we moved up to davis together. What would i ever register for?:confused3 I dont have that sort of need. Just a funny thought that reminds me that were in such different stages in our lives.:rolleyes:
Dont worry...Id probably be in the same range as you. I just feel differently because this is one of my BFF and im close with both the bride and groom.
Now i still have to worry about her bachelorette party which will be a lingerie party and also her 21st birthday which is just 1 week before that.:scared:
Hey Fockers!!! or as Debra says, Fokkers. :thumbsup2
I have a freshly poured Margarita. am I`m going back to catch up on everyones lives now. :goodvibes
Wooohoooo
Enjoy!
Today i went to best buy and the new pet store. I think instead of the hedgehog i may go with a guinea pig. any advice?
Sounds better than a hedgehog and less pricklie too :rotfl2:
The girls have shown interest in pin trading and I wondered where the best place to find some starter pins is and how many you suggest to start them off !!:confused3:love::confused::banana:
Rosie I bought some off ebay once but you have to be careful, last year I bought from mousepinsonline.com they do grab bags and the pins are about $1.65 each. I would say get each child at least 10 pins each to start :thumbsup2
No, I didn't hear anything. did something big happen?
See Lessa's Link :thumbsup2
Weddings are expensive things, plus you'll need a new outfit etc etc. Oh and I need to get married again as I need so much new stuff :rotfl2:
Hi Carrie!
I have heard of this, simply amazing!
You all should watch the clip with her from the show, it is simply amazing and teaches a real lesson on prejudging somebody based on their appearance. The look on Simon Cowell's face is priceless as well!
I know, when she came on you could here everyone about to boo then she started singing :faint:
Well it's not raining here today but wasn't quite nice enough to risk the zoo IYKWIM so we're stripping wallpaper again :rotfl2: We're starting our bedroom and we're just doing 1 wall at a time because the smell and look of bare plaster (drywall) once you've stripped the paper is nasty so we're doig just a bit :thumbsup2
Morning all! I'm mostly caught-up... though I'll admit to skimming. :flower3:
Our plan was to beach it yesterday, but it was super windy; no one was in the mood for a full-body exfoliation by sand, so we stayed home and enjoyed some pool time. But the wind died down later in the day and we made it to the beach after all! I really, really need beach time regularly - it always leaves me feeling renourished and at peace with the world. :cloud9: What can I say - I'm an Aquarian!
Today calls for a workout, grocery shopping, more pool time, and... dinner with Kate and family! :banana::banana::banana: They're down here celebrating her DH's graduation by scoping out the area and hitting Busch Gardens. Leo and I hope to catch up with them for dinner tonight, then we're playing hooky to join them at BG tomorrow. :woohoo:
So I may not be back for a couple days. I'm sure I'll have an update or three on FB; have I mentioned how much I looooove my stupid iPhone?! :rolleyes:
See ya later! :grouphug:
Morning, all!
I read through again - have no excuse for not quoting, but, well... :rotfl:
V - have fun with the Kates! :)
****************************************************
D and the boys are currently taking MIL to the airport. I have some laundry in, but I am not feeling motivated. MIL's sister is planning on staying with us a night or two this week - possibly starting tomorrow. :eek:
She lives in the San Francisco area, and they had a wedding in Connecticut yesterday. They brought her MIL and were taking her to Cape Cod, but weren't sure when they wanted to come up here. :rolleyes: There's mention of spending 2-3 nights in Boston before they leave on Friday, so by my calculations, that means they'll have to be here tomorrow. Tomorrow's good for me, but Tuesday isn't, so I don't know how it will come out.
If they come tomorrow, we can have a relaxing evening, but I can't hang with them Tuesday. If they come Tuesday, I'll have a horribly rushing day to get ready for them and will be scrambling for dinner, but can then hang with them Wednesday.
And the upshot is that I'd really just like to KNOW.
D is out from tomorrow to Wed., so he'll not see them either way.
Gah.
Then, let's not think about my FIL and step-MIL coming a week from today. :scared1:
Sorry, I know I'm griping too much. :hug:
OK, off to do some work. Sigh. I'll be back!
Ok I have to ask. When you go to a wedding isn't the gift a check? That is what we give and it is usually $200.00
Am I wrong?
I love the clip of Susan Boyle, she can SING....
I'm just popping in to say hi. Busy weekend here. I'm going to get showered sometime today.....LOL
We usually give a check also, though usually for about $100. Haven't been invited to a shower yet, but I'd assume about $50 for that.
Not sure if it's the area?
Mel:banana:
Scott, I think that's very definitely a regional thing. And that's more in line with what I do now that we have more disposable income. ;) In the tiny midwest town where I grew up, giving money was not an option. You bought off the registry. All my friends in the ritzier Chicago suburbs, however, expected money more than not. So at my wedding, with D from Chicago and me from the farm town, we had about half and half. Got a lot of china, wine glasses, silverware, etc. and then also a pile of checks. :confused3
I had two showers - one shower was much more the dish towels, linens, etc. , and one was "personal." :rolleyes1
I'm bored. :rotfl:It's a gorgeous day, though much cooler than Friday, and the kids are happy outside. Once I picked up the clutter that had accumulated during MIL's visit, the house is in pretty good shape. I dusted and redid the bathrooms, but I'll wait to vacuum until I hear when they're coming - dog hair makes it moot unless I want to do it every day, and, well, I don't! :rotfl2:
Hey!
Im bored also, I may have to go to sac to get guinea pig stuff im so bored. Although i shouldnt spend the money right now since i just bought the wedding gifts, I really want a new furry friend.
When marc leaves i get uber productive. I went to 3 stores, got that shopping done with, then came home and worked on homework. I actually got a ton done. Im fact i have nothing else to do.:cool1: I copied several pages of notes, did a pre-lab writeup for Bio, statistics homework, and then made about 20 long notecards for my wildlife class. The last one ive been putting off for the last week. I was pretty behind in making my notecards and every other day more species get added to my list. It took me a couple hours to finish that. Did i mention i have no more homework.:confused3 I dont know when the last time that happened was. :dance3: Except now im bored and dont know what to do.
I may drive to sac, and get guinea pig stuff and some new cat litter. I saw a guy doing a demo on a corn and starch cat litter. It worked really well and I may try that. I had to stop using my automatic litter box because somehow my 2 boys would make a sort of cement paste on the bottom of the box and break the rake.:headache:
Do you guys think i should buy my cage and stuff, bring it home and then get a guinea pig? I know this is the way it should go, but im driving about 30 minutes to sac to get the stuff cheaper, and i can get $10 off a guinea pig there. SO it would be cheaper if i bought him/her at the same time. But I can always find a guinea pig closer to me and not drive him around in a scary loud car for 30 minutes. (i have a 65 bug and so it is pretty noisy)
What do you guys think? pig in sac and save $10 or pig here in davis and save his sanity?
dinner with Kate and family! :banana::banana::banana: They're down here celebrating her DH's graduation by scoping out the area and hitting Busch Gardens. Leo and I hope to catch up with them for dinner tonight, then we're playing hooky to join them at BG tomorrow. :woohoo:
Next time I get married you're invited :rotfl2: And yep Susan can sing, there was also a boy this week who was awesome http://talent.itv.com/videos/video/item_200105.htm
I had two showers - one shower was much more the dish towels, linens, etc. , and one was "personal." :rolleyes1
We don't have showers here :sad2:
What do you guys think? pig in sac and save $10 or pig here in davis and save his sanity?
Do both at the same time and drive slowly :rotfl2: Congrats on no homework :thumbsup2
Jess and I went and played golf and :headache: why do I do it? She drives me mad :rotfl2: We ended up having a bit of an argument and me saying we'll walk in as she just couldn't be bothered, I suppose she is almost a teenager but really :rotfl2:
