Good Morning all. I got a phone call from my mom last night. My dad is back in the hospital. No idea what is going on, but if I could get some Focker prayers it would be greatly appreciated. All I know is he went in with chest pains. I hate being so far away:headache:

I have, I am going to apply to the two nursing programs here in my town, hopefully I will get into one of them. I am also going to apply to a one year pre-health program which is basically prep for the regular nursing program so if I don't get into the nursing programs straight out I'll at least get into that (hopefully:rolleyes: ) and you are guaranteed entry into the nursing degree program so long as you maintain a 2.8 GPA in all the pre-health classes (Bio, Chem, Math, etc). The stinker is that it is too late to apply for this fall as all the programs are full. At least I have a full year to work and save up money for tuition. I plan on applying right away once the application process opens up for next fall. Hopefully they won't make me wait too long on the decision as it is causing me much anxiety.
That sounds like a plan! Is it a BSN program? Could u get some of the prereqs done online?

What is it with boys?!

A is time out right now because I asked him if he had washed his hands after he went the bathroom and he lied. He said he did and held his poop-stank hands right up to my nose for me to smell!!!! :headache: Little fart! :sad2:
 I don't ask about hand washing anymore--BA checks everyone in every bathroom and carries hand sanitizer in case anyone forgets or misses the 20 second rule! Trying to talk her into being a nurse, but she doesn't like to be around people who have sick germs.

Happy Birthday Kate!!!

I'm home. The short version is: It didn't matter too much about the drop mess up. The pressure is still 25 even on the new drop. He added ANOTHER drop and told me to have fun in Disney. I go back on Aug. 28th. I am sure I'm only on the drops till then so he could postpone the surgery.

Don't despair though, Fockers. All your prayers and wishes did do some good. I am totally at peace with this. I'm sure that's all because of you guys! Thanks.....it's amazing what the love and support of 2 dozen wonderful women will do for you. I'll deal with it when I get home from FF. Until then, I'm going to live my life.

Bob's almost HOME! Going to pick up Chinese now. LY/MI

MEL:banana:

:drive: Just a drive-by post. I'm trying to keep up, but we've been pretty busy the past few days. I'm going to an adult slumber party tonight (the ladies from our adult Sunday school class). Can't wait to get away from the kids for the night and have some fun with good friends! :drinking1 :rolleyes1

I'll check in tomorrow. Here's a hug for everyone who needs one! :grouphug:

how did it go?

Ab came home and said "I'm not getting married for a L-O-N-G time! Fine by me. She said the wedding was pretty but they were way too young. He dropped outta HS, she just graduated and is gonna try a local college. Hope it works out for them. My mom got married at 18, had me at 19, and divorced at 20.........

Flat Rosie has been travelling, she went back to her Birth County of Suffolk :thumbsup2
She's back in Kent now, waiting to go to WDW in a few days time, she is slightly worse for wear and a little covered in sand and had to have her shoulders cut off  :rotfl2:
:lmao: Flat Rosie! Stealing isn't nice!

Today is cleaning and getting everything ready for the contractor and for packing--and waiting by the phone:rolleyes:

Have a good day FOckers
 I will say prayers for him too.

We're kind of in limbo today. I wanted to pick up B from her sleepover and go to Austin to visit mom, but they haven't had a room in intermediate care to move her to. The kids want to visit, but no kids are allowed in ICU. It's so frustrating. There's also no phone in ICU, so I can't call her and see how she's doing without feeling like I'm bugging her. Her poor friends aren't allowed any information since they aren't family so they started worrying about why she was still in ICU and started calling me. I know they'd like to visit her too, but that's not allowed. I hate to think she's lonely, but she knows I want to come, but can't until she moves. :guilty:

Kate- Do you have any fun plans for your birthday? :cutie:

 My childhood friend did the same thing. She got married and had a baby at 19. They had 3 kids and divorced before 30. :guilty: I can't imagine starting my life over at her age. She was a stay at home mom and now she works and lives with her mom and dad. :headache:

I hope she feels better honey!

Shut-up. It works so well for Jon. I'm going to have to ask his doc on Monday when we go back. ::yes::

It is too young. I was going to marry Jon's sperm donor when I was 18. I called off the wedding 5 days before. Then, he abandoned Jon. Smartest decision I ever made.

e offer of free food too much. ;)

I'm glad at least that Ab realizes 18 is too young---she wants to see the world! (although she said marrying a really rich guy might help that dream some! )

Jen---yes, u should get a script for the Xopenex inhaler--it's more expensive than Albuterol but so much better--no jitters.:thumbsup2

Prednisone messes with eveyone---I ate 2 orders of fried mushrooms last time and got really sick...........I have never eaten them before or after but I craved them terribly!:sad2:

Hey guys.. today has been one of those Run Run Run Days.
I need to go back and read all the pages I am behind on..
Kate ?? Is Today your Birthday ??

Today my "Baby Baby" turned 10. So it's busy. We had dinner at "Outback" as she gets to pick a restaurant for a birthday meal.

Wow--that's a great poem!!!

Mom got remarried to my now Step dad when I was 7----they have an anniversary on 8/16--33 years I think.

We are going tubing on the river this afternoon which should be fun!

That sounds like a plan! Is it a BSN program? Could u get some of the prereqs done online?

It is a BSN program so once completed all I would have to do is write a provincial exam and I would be a certified RN.

I have all the prereqs. The one program requires Grade 12 "university" Biology, Grade 12 "university" Chemistry and Grade 12 "university" English along with 6 other Grade 12 "university" classes with a minimum average of 60%. They did not list the prereqs if you have an American high school education and I e-mailed them and they said they were not even interested in seeing my Canadian university transcripts just my high school classes and marks. :confused3

The tricky part for me are those are all prereqs referencing the Ontario school system and I am a bit worried about how the university would interpret my American high school transcript. As you all know the American system is set up differently than up here. You guys don't have "grade 12 Bio" and "Grade 12 Chem" in high school you just have Biology and Chemistry. Up here there are two levels of classes you can take in high school, university and college, sorta like how in the States you have regular classes, honours classes and AP classes.

The marking system up here is different as well. Here an 80-100= A 70-79=B 60-69=C 50-59=D 50 below = fail

Where I went to school in Virginia 94-100= A 86-93= B 75-85= C 69-75= D and everything else was a fail.

So I have 4 years of science from high school including bio (taken in grade 10) and chem(taken in grade 11) and I have the other requirements as well and I always got A's and B's in my classes so I definitely have higher than a "60%" in them all. So hopefully they won't get confused and say I don't have the sciences just because they are not labeled "grade 12 bio" and "grade 12 chem". :headache:

It must be different---my "cousin in law" was a RN in Canada (not a BSN) but when she moved to TX, they would not recognize it---she had to take more classes to get her RN back and now she just finished her BSN. She said last week she plans to get her MSN while she is home with the kids. Her husband is an Army surgeon so he's in Iraq a lot.
We both found it annoying that they let doctors from any country just waltz in and start practicing, but they stop nurses??? From Canada????:confused3

Are you sure she wasn't a RPN? I'm pretty sure that at least here in Ontario you can't be an RN unless you have a BSN. You can go to a college and get a 2 year diploma and become a Registered Practical Nurse though.

I know a few people here who have their BSN's and got jobs as RN's in the States no problem.

Yes, she had a 2 year degree. But you can be a RN here with a 2 year program. LPN is a 18 month program.
I think it should be a BSN requirment too, but there's such a nursing shortage as it is.

:lmao:

RN = Registered Nurse
RPN= Registered Practical Nurse (they do the nitty gritty stuff like change bed pans etc.)
BSN = Bachelor of Science in Nursing

;)

and RPN is a LPN in Virginia........but a LVN in Texas!

In the ICU, you will see RNs, but in my nursing home, you see LPNs and CNAs (nursing assistants).

Dawn--keep calling about a room change. It does help.

Ah, so she must have gone through the RPN 2 year program up here.

Sounds like it is easier to become a nurse in the States, maybe I should move. :scratchin Nah, tuition up here is much cheaper even if the program is longer.

Everybody has told me once I get my BSN that I should move to the States to become a nurse as I would make tons more money. I don't know if I would want to move so far away from my family though, even if the money is a bit better.
