Team Focker Watch Chat Part 5.5: The Less-Cursed Version

Thank you, Mo. I have spent the better part of the day turning the television on and off hoping for some some sincere, true retelling of the day. All I have seen so far is how this 7th anniversary has become political fodder. We need to remember the people.

I went to the Pentagon last summer while DH was working there. We were fortunate enough to be able to watch the July 4th fireworks from the top of the Pentagon building. As we were escorted out, the security guard walked us right past the place of impact. He let us pause for a moment before continuing to the gate. I was a wreck. To be so close to where so many people suffered and died...to know the heart ache and pain caused by one brief moment in time...to be standing in that spot tore me up. The memorial there is beautiful, and I can only hope it brings a small amount of peace to the family and friends of those who passed.

I bet that was amazing to see.

Sorry I didn't give an update today, but DH didn't leave me a computer at the hospital. But I do have an update:

So glad you are home and feeling better!!!!

Jodi's fine, Junior was removed without complication.

Janet started work and wishes she was still on vacay and her photopass CD arrived broken.

Jo posted her photo shoot at the Poly and the pics were loverly.

Lessa got an email to interview for a new job.

V booked CBR for Oct. thanks to a deal from hotels.com.

Kate needs ideas for a Halloween costume.

Katt is taking a break from the DIS.

Kat bought a new purse

Jen2 is off to Alberquerque

Jen came back from a vacation with her family.

Mel is dealing with the ILs and SD is doing good so far while UNBob is away but coming back tomorrow.

T made an appearance and updated on Barbieville

Miz Diz also made an appearance and is doing good.

Angela visited the World and rode TSM and ToT a bunch of times.

CE had some family drama with her aunt, but was all taken care of.

S'late got a call from her temp agency asking if she could speak Spanish.

Ed got her papers for her trip.

TE is working, but has tomorrow off.

Rosie was feeling under the weather.

Rachel is going to the Motherland Tomorrow!

and I can't remember what else.

Who just watched Project Runway. Is everybody as happy as I am about the 2 eliminations tonight?

I only remember Blane getting ellimintaed, I was falling asleep too lol.

Tomorrow Andy's off from work, and we're going to be horrible parents and send the kids to school and then were heading to Disneyland! Our passes expire next week and we aren't renewing them at this time - so we gotta get our fix in while we can and WITHOUT KIDS!!!

I'm going to work at Gus' school this am. In the library, with my favorite girls!!! Yay! That will give me some time away from the inlaws.

I wanted to tell you guys that SD had the BEST day yesterday!!! He didn't have a single moment of anxiety at all! He came home so happy. It really made my day.

Oh and the cherry on top is Rocky has to go to the vet tonight, crossing fingers he is all right. He has lump on the side that they did a needle aspirate in March, and it was fine, but it is a lot bigger, then I found a growth on one of his legs.

OK gotta go back to work...

KC went to work today, to make up for yesterday. I spent the morning in bed finishing up re reading Breaking Dawn. At least now I can read one of my million unread books.

KC is going to his uncles today after work (more PC help) so i am eating leftovers and relaxing all day! I may catch up with episodes fo the Tudors.

I was getting dressed and my ex's mom came running in yelling in Spanish all upset to turn the tv on. We turned it on just as the 2nd tower was hit. I should have been on the subway that ran underneath the towers at about the time when it happened. I was on the train that time everyday passing the Cortlandt Street Stop. I was actually in the mall under the towers the week before with a friend. I even have the receipt for the book i bought in the bookstore there.

Seven Years Ago

It was my first week of university and my first time living away from home. I had just gotten back to my dorm after my 8:30 class and I saw a bunch of people sitting in the common room watching what looked like a movie at first, that is how unreal it all seemed. I sat down and watched for a while completely dumbfounded that something like that could happen. I eventually went up to my room and woke up my roommate to tell her what happened, she didn't believe me so I told her to go downstairs and see for herself.

I then had to call my parents who were living in Virginia Beach at the time. I couldn't reach my dad (he was working on one of the big naval bases). I got in touch with my mom who was working in a school library. The school admin had not told anybody what was going on so she had no clue until I called to tell her.

When I went home that Christmas I found a very different city than the one I left that September. It was very sad. I went to go visit my old co-workers at the Dairy Queen and I found out that the guys who had planned the whole attack had been scouting out the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area beforehand and that the government had been by our store to collect our video surveillance as they believe they had been in our area.

I went to one of Steves football games last night, because he wasnt sure of the directions and wanted me to go with him. since hes the coach he would probably be embarresed if he got lost...
Annie and I went to the mall and best buy,,couldnt find any decent cameras at BB. I did get the Wii Fit! havent tried it yet...
Spent too much in the mall..clothes for the kids and godson,,annie insisted going to build a bear..

I ordered a nice Kodak easyshare from Dell this morning! I cant wait to play with it in WDW!!
I also went back to Dell.com and ordered a new Mini Laptop..its very cute. and cheap! but I wont have to fight with the kids for the computer anymore. and maybe I`ll take to WDW and do a few updates...

7 years ago I was working in the pre-school at the YMCA. I had 20 3-5 year olds. the janitor poked his head in the room and said a bomb blew up in front of the whitehouse. Then more info started coming in and ran down to the Teen Center to watch a CNN while on a break. I was thankful I was with the kids that day. we had to be our normal selves for the kids so they wouldnt get nervous.

But for now... We are planning to move so that Sara can go to a whole new school with NO ON that she goes to school with now.
Get this.. a New girl came to class... new here... SHE DOES NOT LIKE SARA EITHER. Teacher put them together 1 day to discuss stories they are writing... next day... she ask them to get with their partners.. She went and added herself to another pair( now there are 3 in this group) when told to go with Sarabeth she replied I already have a partner... So the Teacher had to place Sara with another group of 2.

SO.. Should I speak with the Teacher and see if she can or will find out what is going on ??? Sara is a Kid without a Friend at all.. even new kids hate her.
Teacher may not even care.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's story of where they were 7 years ago. It's good to remember why we remember today. I bought a book that has lots of pictures in it several years ago. I should sit down with the kids later and read a bit about that day to them. iIdon't want my kids to ever forget either. [/color]

Since I asked the question... I was home.. Joshua was at School and for some reason I think Sara was home with me.. she should have been in Pre School
I was late turning on the TV... I turned it on to see the "Today Show" talking about this plane that had hit 1 of the Twin Towers... And before I cold take in what Katie Couric had said.. I watched LIVE as the second Plane slammed in to the other tower.
I was stunned... How could two accidents like this happen... can't the piolts see the buildings... Where are the Traffic Controllers ??... Then I sensed it was not an Accident.. Then Matt Lauer said " We are under attack" these are not accidents"
I called Scott at work ( he had a real job them ) and told him what was happening... I wanted him to come home.
Mom then called... Dad had been dead for almost 1 year.. and Mom wanted me to come home... Because" I was too close to Washington DC"
( she called after the 3rd plane hit the Pentagon). I assured her that I was 4 hours away.. I was fine.
Now I realize that Mom wanted me and the kids close to her as she was scared. She was safe and sound up a "Holler" in Eastern Kentucky.. and she wanted me and her babies safe with her.. so she could hold us and make sure we were safe. Mom never admitted she was scared.. but I have replayed that conversation over and over in my head.. I hear the fear in her voice... something I NEVER EVER HEARD OUT OF MY MOM.

So I need to vent..
I had a major meltdown at work this morning. I got in early @ 6:45 and saw an email about my client transition. It was witchy poo's proposal on how to proceed. It was sooo unreasonable. A real slap in the face.
I sat here for 45 minutes choking back tears as it was forwarded to me by my VP, so I thought OMG I'm screwed. I nearly got up and walked out.
MY VP called me at 7:30 (she was heading into NYC today and was waiting for the train). SHe asked how I was and I said, all choked up, that I wasn't in a good place. She had me close the door and I let it all out, all my frustrations etc. At the end of my rant she said she agreed with everything, and that she didn't even look at it, just wanted me to see it and get my feedback. She talked to her Sr VP the day before and he has had it with the dragging out of this transition.
MY VP said witchy poo is digging herself a real big hole and she may not be able to get herself out.
She promised to fix this mess ASAP as the right people have seen what I have done the last few months and what witchy poo hasn't.
OMG, I am so drained after all this, I need a vacation. Witchy poo is moving Tuesday

I am guessing "Witchy Poo" thought that if she pleaded her case, and showed all the wrong things you did and what all she has done.. that eyes would be opened. THAT ALMOST ALWAYS BACKFIRES.. and it did this time too.
You are O.K. Mo.. just keep doing what you are doing and rememebr Crap rolls downhill... so step aside

Dawn - On either the History Channel or Military Channel they are having a bunch of specials on 9/11. I'm taping a few right now and will probably watch one tonight with the kids. I told Linds she had to wear RW&B today to school and she asked why and I tried explaining it to her but figured if I could tape a show for her it would be better for her to see as well.

I too am enjoying (for lack of better words) reading all about where everyone was when 9/11 happened. My mom would always say she knew exactly where she was the day JFK was shot and will never forget that. Well, that is 9/11 for our generation.

7 year ago I was living in Fredericksburg, VA (about 45 miles south of Washington) and was on my way to work when a thing came over the radio that a plane had hit the first tower. I thought to myself how could someone miss that?

When I got into work people were talking about it and were kind of thinking the same thing I was and then we heard on the radio that another plane had hit the second tower and at this point we all knew something was wrong. Then we started hearing reports about the Pentagon being hit as well.

My boss was a nervous wreck though. Her husband worked for the government and at the Pentagon and she couldn't get a hold of him. I will never forget him walking into the office and her dropping everything and running to hug him.

Our office closed early that day and I think my soon to be ex's did as well. We both got home and were glued to the TV all night.

I know, I know!!!!
Our freezer does that too! This is what it is:
When you dispense ice cubes out the door, sometimes one stays up in the "chute." Then as it slowly melts (very cuz it's sort of still in the freezer...) it gets just small enough that it shoots out. Bouncing to a stop near the freezer door. Then it melts.

Seriously. Ours does it too!

I thought this at first, but we turned the water off to the fridge and kept it off while we were on vacation. When we returned, we kept it off and one evening I walked into water.

It is supposed to be a frost free fridge, but we have been getting frost and ice build up at the opening of the shoot. It is all frozen and still the part that is in the freezer. We are also getting a layer of ice on the bottom of the freezer. It is not a very thin layer, either. I took the layer out and when we got home there was another layer.

Let's see:

Oh I forgot!! We are booking a Disney trip for next June! We were going the first week but found out it is Gay Pride week so we are going the second week.

We are going that same week! If anyone else is going, we could do a dismeet. We went the first week of June this year, knowing it was Gay week and did not have any problems. There were some funny tshirts, but nothing my kids noticed. We just got back from WDW and saw more gay couples holding hands than we did during Gay week.

I wanted to tell you guys that SD had the BEST day yesterday!!! He didn't have a single moment of anxiety at all! He came home so happy. It really made my day.

Jen - sorry to hear about Jon and the heart murmur. As if he doesn't have enough going on already.

My nephew (7) is having surgery in a couple of weeks. He has an irregular heart beat and it is getting worse. I don't remember what the procedure is called, but my sister (RN) said it is like a heart cath. My other sis (his mom) was really worried, but she is feeling better now. THe doctors did tell her that, depending on what they find, he may need to get a pacemaker - low chance though.

My dad was on the Osprey Ridge Golf course and the ranger came to tell them that the golf course was closed and the reason why. He said it was so eerie to see everyone leaving the parks at that time of the day
