Ok I am on the other end of the spectrum. DH has ants in his pants and can't sit still. Yesterday he "pruned" my blooming hibiscus. He can't stand to be still when there are things to do and since we live in a 40 year old house, there are always things to do! I shouldn't complain but the man never rests. :rolleyes:

:scared1:
I would have cried!

TRADE YA... And you have to take the trains:lmao:

Wow, chatty bunch today! :goodvibes

It looks good! We wanted a bigger wall unit as I need some more storage in this house--my last house had a wall of built in bookcases and entertainment center, so I've been missing that.

Yeah, our wall just isn't big enough for a wall unit around the bigger TV - we have a smallish wall unit now, but it's for the 32" non-widescreen TV. ;)

As for my furniture, DH noticed a slight tear in the back of the loveseat (about 1 cm---from a box cutter I guess--but it is cutting the leather). So I had to call the store back and they will send me another one on Wed.

Oh, no, but at least they're replacing it! :thumbsup2

I can totally relate to your DH - that's exactly how I get with home projects. It just makes me crazy that a simple home improvement snowballs into umpteen trips to Home Depot. DOn't even get me started on my latest track light project.

Yep, I think we've discussed our interesting wiring before. :hug:

I'm back... he's fine! It's not all that bad looking, but I'd bet it bled a lot and looked pretty scary at the time. He told me how it happened - jumping backward into the pool. I said, "We've talked abotu that, haven't we?" "Yes." "So now you know why you shouldn't do it, right?" "Yep!"

::yes:: Sometimes I actually LIKE when this stuff happens, so I can say, "See why we have this rule?" :rotfl:

Love what you got from IKEA. I'm jonesing for a trip - they just built a HUGE one pretty close to us.

Thanks! I always have fun there - I'm kind of new to Ikea - they didn't have any nearby in IL or TX, but there's one about an hour from here. It's hard to just pick up and go, though - you have to really want something and you have to buy it NOW if you like it, 'cause it's too much to go back!
I am now the proud owner of 2 non-nursing, non-granny bras! This deserves a :banana: !!

woohooty!!!! :cool1:

I can understand your husbands frustration. I hate it when I buy something that won't work and need to go back. I like the stand though.

Oh, I know. Particularly when we both just spaced on it. :sad2:

I know I asked before but I ma trying to get the contact list going for us Focker Peoples. I ahve some peoples info..All I need is any or all of the following info you would like to provide:

Screen Name:
Name:
Email:
Telephone:

More or less it's for those of us going in August so that we all have each others stalking info.... Thanks. I will send it to everyone once I have all of our info.

I'll PM you, but likely tomorrow. :goodvibes

Gosh, this thread has gotten long in a matter of days! Anyway, joining up!

Welcome!!! We're a chatty but friendly bunch! :thumbsup2

i completely understand. my husband is a great guy. however, putting furniture together has never been his thing. he gets so mad and frustrated because it never seems to go smoothly!!! we have a unit similar to that and love it. although, we need a new one because my 2 year old is like the hulk and has ripped off every door at least once. :headache: he ends up bending the bracket that holds the door on, so when you put it back on it never shuts just right. oh well, we're waiting until he's a little older to buy a new one. we bought a big screen tv (projection), the screen is kind of soft, not glass. well, my 2 year old (hulk) got his brother's harry potter wand and was beating the tv. several rips and scratches in the screen. it's still viewable ,but you can see all the dents/rips/cracks. luckily, we called place we bought and we can order the screen for about $150, but i think we'll wait until he's 18 yrs old to replace!!!:rotfl: hopefully, he'll grow out of the descructive phase soon. :scared:

Oh, no, about the damage! Woody once poked holes in our white couch with a pencil and I thought that was bad... :rotfl:

I guess I'm lucky - Andy does just about everything. He'll clean the whole house for me and he does a pretty decent job! :thumbsup2 The only thing he doesn't do is :laundy: . Which is fine with me, as I am soooo picky about how clothes are folded. He laughs at the way I fold the clothes, boutque style he says. :lmao:

D is WAY more particular about his laundry than I am...

Oh Kat and CE--
just saw this on Charlaine Harris website:
RUE BLOOD

Excellent!

I have all the "Dead Books". I really wanna read her other stuff too. She's really funny. I get attached to an author easily and need to soak up everything they write! Thank god for ebay lots! LOL. OH- I'm reading "Bite" right now!

I really, really like her other stuff, but just beware that the older series, in particular are DARK. Not fantasy, just really bad things happening to nice enough people. ;)

Oh, no.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D took the boys off to tennis and to do some Mother's Day shopping since he'll be gone starting Wed. and all weekend. So, I got a nap and some chores done. Woohoo!
I just asked for 3 minutes to finish up, but then we'll start putting together the TV cabinet and finishing up as many recorded shows as possible, so good night to you all! :grouphug:
Congrats! I just got back from bra shopping at Kohl's. In that whole store, they only had 2 bras in my size. :headache: I love new undies! :cloud9: {/QUOTE]
Kohl's NEVER has a good selection here....unless you are a stick figure:rolleyes1
Jim too. He will clean a bathroom, living room, etc. The only rule we have is I am not allowed to touch the lawn mower (I can be a bit of a clutz:rolleyes: ) and he is not allowed to touch the laundry (He says there are only 2 loads, White and Not White:scared1: ). Otherwise we both do whatever needs to be done:thumbsup2
Well I got home from class tonight with a great idea from my teacher. Her son's PTO is doing some special things for teachers this week to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. They are putting different candies in the teacher mail boxes each day. Today was M&M with a note saying Marvelous and Magnificent. I was inspired. I stopped at the store on the way home, bought bags of KISSES and HUGS, put them in some tulle bags,and attached a poem. The poem reads:
For everything you do
Hugs and kisses for you
I am going to sneak them into the boxes tomorrow morning so non of the teachers see me:ssst: . It is a small school so I was able to do ones for all the teachers and my dd's teachers. She won't do the poem. It is cute in elementary but not 11th grade:lmao: .
Then I finished some homework and wanted to post to all of you a good night.
CE---what route did u take thru VA? Did u go I-81???
::yes:: Yes ma'am, through the entire state (and WV and MD, too!)
It's TV day - I'll let you know how the delivery goes. :thumbsup2
So what'd he get ya? popcorn:: I already know what I got.
I'm not sure, but I asked for a tennis racket. The boys got him one for his birthday last week, and I got him a gift certificate at our gym for tennis lessons. It's only a $10/hour difference between just him going and the both of us, and he seemed to want to take them together rather than by himself.
So, it seems like a no-brainer, but we'll see. ;) He is, after all, a man. :rotfl:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning, all! :wave2:

The building went relatively well. Except for that for the first time with any of our Ikea pieces - and we have quite a few - we were missing some hardware in the set. :mad: 5 screws (3 of one kind, 2 of another) and several tack nails. Since D's handy and therefore keeps a lot of hardware supplies, we were able to replace them from our own stash, but still... It involved some searching and measuring, etc. :sad2: Thankfully it wasn't any of the hard to find support stuff.

At any rate, I'm loving it (though it's not in place yet - we didn't disconnect the old TV as we were still desperately watching TV. :rotfl: )

We watched all but one show we're really interested in, which we might get in this morning now. :thumbsup2

We do still need to run out and exchange the cable box, then I'm sure the TV set up will take a little time (D is a stickler on the surround sound being right.) The boys are invited to a birthday party at 4:00, so it's likely to be another busy day.

I think I'm off to clear the old entertainment center and then hopefully shower, maybe see a show, and get going. Everyone have a great day, and I'll check back in later!

Hi girls...
I'm kind of in a sad mood today. My mom was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension about a month ago. I had read up on it a bit, but not a lot because I like to be a positive person and I didn't know to what extent she has it. After her heart cath last month, she said it was mild. I thought that sounds "not too bad", but she's been acting weird.
She's been extra nice, and non-judmental (She's usually pretty hard to take some days). She came to stay over a week or two ago and hang with the kids and me. While it was just DH and I she said she felt the need to clean her house out so we wouldn't have to do it. I thought it was weird, but sometimes she can be dramatic, you know? :confused3
So, finally last night she tells me that her life expectancy is 2-5 years. :sad1: She told me that the disease is fatal and she thought I knew that. I knew something was up. :guilty:
I'm sad today, but I can't talk about it with the kids, because it's silly to worry them. I just pushed it out of my mind last night because it was late when we talked. but today it's getting to me.
I haven't spoken to my dad in years, and my relationship with my brother is really only there because of my mom... I feel like I'm losing my family. :sad1: I just want to cry.

Sorry to be a downer, but I kow this is a safe place I can say what I want and not worry about who I'm talking to getting upset too.
:grouphug: Thanks for listening... :sad1:

Morning everyone!

Hope everybody is having a great day! I am doing NOTHING today. I need a day of nothing. Tomorrow starts the organizing of the garage sale stuff. That's going to be a HUGE job. I just want to make enough money to cover my airfare for Fockerfest (that's 287 dollars!) and then I'll be happy! :goodvibes

CE: We bought two dressers from IkEA last year. They were so easy to put together! My DH said he's a convert. He'll check IKEA before anywhere else now. I love the TV stand/cabinet thingy you got. We are going to run into the same issue when we replace our downstairs tv....glad to watch you go through it first! :thumbsup2

Oh, and I forgot to mention to Kat that I loved her NYC pics!

Well, off to do NOTHING. Have a lovely day Fockers.

Mine too! But, sure she had no problem with support, but could she BREATHE with that corset?!

Me too! I worked in a clothing store for 2 years, so I fold everything as if it was going on a display table. Do you use a clipboard?
Aha, do I detect a fellow Benneton or Gap veteran?!

I bought 3 new bags and handed him the bill! :lmao:

Jeff's like that too. I caught him sorting into piles he called, "Lights" and "Everything else". Plus, he doesn't fold "right". I certainly don't fold Martha Stewart style, but I do have a way to fold so everything fits into the drawers. That way, the kids can grab whole handfuls and toss them on the floor quicker. :lmao:

What a great idea! I'm going to "borrow" it for our son's kindergarten teacher and all the support staff. I'll probably just stick with Kisses though. I already have a few big bags (ok, some is missing out of one bag...:rolleyes1 ) because we make little bags of "Pixie Dust" to thank CMs at WDW and I just made some up for our May trip.

i'm pretty laid back so i can deal with the traffic, now my husband on the other hand :scared: ; but he's calmed down over the years. now instead of getting mad at the road rage people , he just waves and smiles at them. it tends to make people angrier than giving them the bird!!! :guilty:

yep, completely understand your sitiuation. i was well endowed before i had my 3 kids. would love to have a breast reduction sometime!!! having big b**bs is not great as most people believe. although i have gotten out of a few speeding tickets ?!:rolleyes1 :confused3

oh yeah , big breasted women unite!!!:yay: ; but we can't jump like that can we??? !!! :rotfl2:

Your husband rocks for waving and smiling! Jeff gets upset when I do wave at people who cut us off, but I get a kick out of knowing I probably made them pretty darn mad! :rotfl2: (I get my kicks where I can!)

I dream of reduction surgery. A friend had a reduction years ago and loved it. I read somewhere though that they remove, uhhhh, well you know, suck the stuff out and then reattach them. :scared1: With my luck, they'd attach them inside out or something. :laughing:

Nope, no jumping for this girl. I tried jump roping a few years ago and nearly knocked myself out! No running either. You should see me trying to catch up with our oldest son. I do this fancy move where I look around to make sure no one's watching, then put my arms really close to my chest, chipmunk style, and go for it. Still not that good though, as other things rub together, such as thighs. Weight Watchers, I'll see you next year! I need the lifetime plan!

Congrats! I just got back from bra shopping at Kohl's. In that whole store, they only had 2 bras in my size. :headache:

Hence, why I went into Lane Bryant. It actually made me feel pretty good. When I asked the scared sales girl if they had anything in my size, she said, "Oh YEAH! TONS of stuff". I actually took one of their smaller sizes! Much better than having to buy the biggest size in Kohls, if I can even find it!

I mean NO disrespect to the ladies that have had to have their breasts removed due to Cancer.. I have cousins that have had to have Mastectomy's and ladies here that have family and friends that had to have it done. It is horrible to have to face Cancer like that.. sometimes with tragic results.

I USED to have a wonderful size B cup set... however after kids and far too much weight they grew.. and GREW.. and GREW !!!
I hate them MORE than I hate Trains.. ( newbies... my DH has a big obsession for O guage Model Railroading.. and our collection is big enough that he has "Collectables Insurance" :scared1: )
ANYWAY.. GOD has sense of humor.. I was very happy with my perfect size B's .. was not happy with the C's but I thought he would stop.. NOPE !!! I will not run anymore.. because these puppies will STOP TRAFFIC. Scott does not understand.. but I see men watching women and the bouncing.:mad: The Bigger they are the harder Men STARE..:furious: Where is DDad ???... I NEED ANSWERS....:furious: IF I am running to catch up with the family.. Men will stare. So my exercise is walking.. because there is less bounce.(I want a BRA that gives ZERO BOUNCE... no matter if you are a GG.) If I do Run.. these puppies jump up , slap me in the face.. and block my view... Oh Yeah... I want a B**B Job.. take them down. I'm done having kids.. so when you hit Concave.. that will be fine.

He also wants to run and go places which will also take me away AND HIM TOO from weekend house work.

I too mean no disrespect for ladies suffering from cancer. It makes me apprecaite the good health I enjoy. :flower3:

Jeff is obsessed with H scale trains. He collects them all over. His next dream is to get an H scale model of the WDW trains. I don't get it. While we don't have collection insurance, we do have old car insurance. His other obsessions are Model A Fords (he has one) and antique Farmall tractors, specifically the Super C model (he has one of these too). We carry insurance on that too. He also has a partially assembled car in his parent's basement. Yep, that's right. Partially assembled CAR in the BASEMENT! Men. Don't they think ahead, even a little, tiny bit? Whatever. Why can't he collect something small, like teacups or something????

Hey, that's MY trick to run away on weekends to avoid housework!!! It also works after dinner. "Hey honey, why don't we go for a ride"? Though once we switch over to riding a horse with carseats being towed behind, housework might be better!!

Oh, I'm so sorry! I will be sending lots of prayers and good thoughs your way. May you, and your brother and father, find the strength needed to face the coming days, weeks, months, and years ahead. At the risk of sounding "too religious" have trust in Him.

Oh, Dawn. I'm so sorry. :hug: On the best positive note I can think of, the 2-5 years can be great ones, and so often people outlast the predictions. :hug: My grandfather had a recurrence of lung cancer nearly 3 years ago. They couldn't operate because of heart health, and really figured he'd be gone within a year. 3 years later and he's still feisty. :thumbsup2

We're here whenever you need us.

:thumbsup2

Thanks! We went to Ikea and got a chair, a storage cabinet, a side table, two CD towers, two coffee tables and a bookcase back about 1 1/2 years ago when we totally revamped our family room. So, it's one of our go-to places as well - except that it's a long trek!

I kind of have fun putting them together and this was the first time we have ever had a problem with missing hardware. ;)

Have a great "nothing" day! :goodvibes

What. PA was too good for you;)

Well, we entered PA on 81, but then we took 78 over into NJ, cut across NJ and then up to CT. :thumbsup2 No offense meant to Pennsylvanians, but I get fed up with 81 up into the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area just because of the truck traffic combined with the climb. :rolleyes1 It's also why we usually drive 90 to IL rather than 80 - it's just the hills and the trucks.
