I have seen some nice reviews for HoJo but was not sure if it was within walking distance. What is GCV? I have never rented points and usually stay at the value resorts when we go to WDW. Is DL like WDW in that I will want to stay on site for convenience?

GCV = The DVC Villas at the Grand Californian. They open on Sept. 27th.

HoJo's is right across the street on Harbor Blvd. Maybe a 5-10 min walk? The pool has a really neat kids area if you go during warm weather. There's Mimi's Cafe and Millie's across the parking lot from HoJo for some reasonably priced meals and also McDonalds is right there for Bug.

It's not always convenient to stay at the DL resorts. The only benefit is Early Entry on certain days. HoJo's is actually closer to the Main Gate than DLH or Paradise Pier.

I know there's a great price for HoJo's via the Entertainment book link. You might try to search that on the DIS. I think it's like $90 a night? :confused3

HTH. :thumbsup2

This is my exact thinking. :sad1: The Mods on codes are all booked too, but I'm gonna keep trying.
Hope a code opens up for you.

Just sounds more important. :p Or maybe he's higher up than a manager? At the hospital we have Supervisors, Managers, Directors, Vice President, Presidents. :confused3
Actually it was what he said that I wasn't sure what he meant. He said he was the engineering director and not a manager. And that a manager would manage engineers but a director directs engineering managers. Well, it is only him, two other engineers, me, and a co-op. So I am not sure if that means one (or more) of us will become managers or if they are going to hire managers from the outside of if he is just trying to motivate me

Our neighbor and another very good friend found a suicide note from her hubby!!!
Oh no rosie

glad you are getting your carrier back.

Hi Peeps!

Let me tell you, I am exhausted! :faint: The kitchen is FINALLY done (almost) and we're moving everything back in.
Woo Hoo!!! :woohoo:

And congrats on the race.

Well after the yardsale I took a nap and did some homework for work. I am learning a new 3-d cad software. BOOORING! Then we went to my brothers house and watched some football. He told me some information about our mother that I don't know what to do with. Basically she has made a mess of her finances. I knew things were bad but he attached numbers to things and that both made me feel bad for her and yet feel anger towards her because I know how good my dad left things when he died.
If I hadn't booked nonrefundable airfare I think i would cancel our December trip.

Thanks for all the information. I forget that it is easy to eat out side the parks there. I remember going to Denny's at 2 am for Nana. She wasn't hungry all day and then at 2 am woke me up and said she was hungry. The Denny's was two doors down from our hotel. I liked that hotel I wish I could remember what it was called. It was many years ago.

Hi Fockers!

Deb - Glad work is a little bit better and hope it stays that way.

Mel -

T - :yay: to the kitchen (almost) being done. I'm sure it will be gorgeous once it is all the way complete.

Rosie - Glad the carrier is on the way home. :thumbsup2

:wave2: Hi to everyone I missed!

*********************************************

We had a yard sale this morning/afternoon and we were all wiped out afterwards. The combination of getting up early and being in the sun had us all taking afternoon naps. The downside...my kids are still up! :rotfl: Oh well, hopefully they'll sleep in for me tomorrow.

Tomorrow I need to clean up the house a bit since my brother is having some kind of Fantasy Football draft pick thing over here at the house. I don't get any of that guy stuff. I'm just happy to watch the games.

Oh...and I think I came to a descision about a Disney trip for 2010. I'm planning for September 2010 and will hopefully get to book it and put a payment down on it next week. I'm excited and hope to keep this little secret in and surprise the kids with it.:banana:

Hope y'all are enjoying your weekends!

Hey there Fockers!!!!

I'm pooped! I'll continue after reviewing.

We went to a football meeting for Mitch's school, Ole Miss, and after went to dinner. As we're waiting for our food, a man notices M's Ole Miss shirt and says his daughter goes there. Who knows who you'll meet?

Debra, the meeting took over most of the bar and there was a guy there from Mississippi State. They decided he was ok because he was from MS and not a Gator fan.

I am always amazed at what a small world it is sometimes.

kristel-- i hope you don't have to hear anything about work on your vacation! oh, and when you fly, see if they still let families board before others. if not, i may have to pay the extra $10 next time.

Families still get to go before everyone but the people who pay for the early bird, business select and frequent fliers.

Not much going on with us today. Lindsey is in school. DR and I just worked on his school stuff. We just got done playing a game of Memory and he's being a sore loser at this moment.

No big plans for out Labor Day weekend either. Well, sort of. We have some things planned out but not much. Tomorrow we are having a yard sale and then Monday we may be going with friends to a county fair. Plenty of days to get to sleep in though and I think we are all needing it.

I hope you make some money. I get to work Sun, Mon, and Tue. Yay me!

Hey all. Last night was a crazy one. We went out to dinner at olive garden first then met up with some friends for one of their birthday. We got ripped! I can't even remember how many shots we did, it was nutso. I feel ok today tho, surprisingly. I did do a little drunk yelling at KC at some point, but he can take it. LOL.

We had plans to get up early for dim sum, but that isn't happeneing, esp. since KC is still sleeping. BUT the weather is gorgeous and I wanna go out. I think we might walk the Brooklyn Bridge towards Manhattan and then get some ice cream under the bridge.

Isn't it weird we spend so much time together? He keeps making plans with me. I'm trying to give him as much space as I possible can. I even told him to go visit his uncle in NJ for a few days next week so he can clear his head. I am confident he will realize we can be happy, i just hope it doesn't take a million years for it to happen.

I am taking my 8hr class to renew my security license this week and then the job should hopefully work out in another week or 2.

Just keep swimming, right?

I'm glad you survived the shots!!!! My xSIL and her friends were probably feelin' it on Saturday morning.

It's nice that you are able to spend time with KC. I hope he is really thinking this all through for both your sakes.

Good luck with the class. That job opportunity couldn't have come at a better time!

If you are going to swim, just stay close enough that we can reel you in if you need us too.
;) :hug::hug:

Ellie had a fantastic first day at her new school, she came home absolutely hyper

Jess and I had a nice day too, first I took her and her friend shopping then back here for lunch. Then Jess and I went and played golf and we did something different, instead of just hitting our own ball we took it in turns hitting each others so if she put her ball in trouble I had to get it out!!! It worked really well though as we had a really good laugh and for the first time ever I didn't have to nag or tell her off about something.

Good for Ells!!!! I love that golf idea. I'm glad you had a great time!

Hi Everyone I had a good day at work !Invited myself to lunch with 2 of the bosses , who say they keep me around cuz I amuse them. Not for my work performance. Another boss said he was gonna go till he found out I was going. I smacked him up side his young head !! I just don'tget no respect!!!!. But my boss bought me8 Tacups for my English Teas, which the consumers LOVE!!!! SoI guess someof my work is okay.

Then I got home and the Drama started ! First I get a note fome someone who aw that a bank was closing acountsthat were inactive and one was mine that as an account for the girls that I have had for years so I haveto go to th bank andraise holy *****tomorrow!!Next I findoutthe friendof Judy's who originally was going with us this month but went with someone else had a HUGE fight with this other person and is flying home !! Why should I care well she drove down in the other perons vehicle butn top as OUR Car carrier. I know for sure there is gona be fireworks over this !!!! Judy says never will we even consider going with another family !! I think she may becomea convert to the Dis Families!! We at least know how to respect each other !!!

I tell ya I really do have a Best Seller !! I think I am a Drama Magnet!!!!...

Well Jordan may be the DRUNK magnet Iam Definately the DRAMAQueen Magnet!!!
The continued Drama Saga of our Carrier ! It is on the Plane coming back as I speak. Well at least our friend didn't say forget it and leave it there !! Sooo now we should all fit in the van using the carier to get our stuff to the airport next saturday!!! So apart from getting blow by blow description from Maria tomorrow of what happened , that DRAMA is over!!

Ha! Ha! :lmao: you say Rosie has a quiet spell WRONG !!! Our neighbor and another very good friend found a suicide note from her hubby!!! Judy was on her way to a benefit for another friends sister when she got the FRANTIC call. They spent 4 hours along wit the police searching for him!!!:headache: Finally Judy found him by the Gorge. He is home now with his uncle who's sticking to him likeglue !!!

Do ya think I am ready for DISNEY!!!!!

First: It is good to hear how well you get along at work with the consumers and your bosses. It is so hard to find a job that you are good at and like too! You and the people you work for and with are very fortunate!

2nd:
faint.gif

What an exhausting few hours! I hope everything has settled down now. I glad to hear you are getting your carrier back.
You have been ready for WDW for a few months now!

Do you think it's worth it to pay $200 for 1 night at the Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge? It would be split in half, so $100 per person.

What would the Fockers do?

I just can't seem to convince myself to spend that much money for 1 night. :guilty:

I'm thinking going the cheap way and just staying offsite....

It sounds like you are staying off-site. Hey it's all in what you want to spend your money on. I think you made the right choice. You'll have plenty of other opportunities to stay at a deluxe.

haha!

I have been so busy at work and haven't had time to post. I was afraid to look today but was relieved that you haven't been too chatty. I don't even know where to begin. My boss is exactly what I expected from the interview. We have meetings each morning but we have to stand up. Everyone has been given a title. Oh and I was corrected by him on Thursday. He is the engineering director, not manager. I am still not exactly sure what that means.

All in all, he is growing on me. I went from "I have to get out of here" to " I think I want to stick around until May to see how things go".

Had a yard sale this morning with my SIL. It rained. But we still made $94 ($40 of it is the kids). Going back to my brother's tonight to watch some football and grill some steaks.

Yep, just give the new guy some time. You might be OK. $94 is pretty darn good, especially if it rained! This is a good time to unload some things.

Kristel: Almost time to par-tay in Disney w/ Rockie!!!!

Things are just a total drag here. My mother visited for 4 days. It was hellish. I won't go into details but we'll just say that she has some nervous habits that have gotten positively UNBEARABLE. I nearly ripped her head off numerous times.
Thursday I saw Dr. Seigle and I need to have TWO surgeries. I begged him to let me wait till Oct. so I could still go to Disney. So, the first one is on Oct. 5th. The second will be set when he sees how the first one went. I'm beyond upset. However, I'm determined not to think about it till Oct. So, I love you all. And I know you'll all think of me. But, let's not talk about it till Oct. OK?

I cannot WAIT to see Dawn and Jo and Rachel and Angela and Yani and Z. That is what I'm living for. :woohoo:

Miss you all!

MEL

I'm sorry about the Mutha drama and the operations!!!! Hey, WDW is just around the corner. Just focus on fun for a little bit longer!!!

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know I did not fall off the face of the earth. My job does not allow me access to a computer and we are not allowed on cell phones. I get home at night and read what you all have posted on facebook and that is about it.

My summer job has now turned in to a fall job and this will be nice for me. I can pick up sub-teaching jobs and just find someone to cover my shift. I will also be able to get out for my observation hours. I only have 20 hours I have to do this term.

I am thinking of changing my next WDW trip to a DL trip. I have only been once. It will mean several days on a train to get there. How I wish my son would fly. Any helpful hints on DL would be great. It looks like the dining is a lot different there. The food plan is way different and I am wondering were we should eat and if I should bother with the food plan or just a character meal and some counter service. I do remember a TS in the Pirate ride but since it will most likely be just me and Bug that will not matter. He won't even ride the Pirate ride. I am also wondering wear to stay. The on-site hotels are out of my price range. We will not have a car. Many years ago when I went I was at a place within walking distance. It was ok as long as Nana wasn't sleeping on the way back. I remember one night a nice dad from another family carried her back for me.

Just wanted mainly to say hi to all and try and read back a few pages. Hope all is well with everyone and hugs to all of you.

Congrats on the subbing! That will work out nicely.
DL is awesome. T and Mo are the Fockers to talk to on that issue. I haven't been since I was 18 yrs old. I just loved Cali though.

Let me tell you, I am exhausted! The kitchen is FINALLY done (almost) and we're moving everything back in. I literally washed every dish, cups, utensil, container, box, you name, I washed it! Where's Madge when you need her?

Anyway, I need to hit up Le Creuset for some new pieces. I'm thinking of a Tuscan theme, antique olive oil cans, herbs, etc. Colors I am thinking are artichoke and a golden tuscan yellow? What do you think? I have some pics of my favorite restaurant at DCA (Mo and I ate there in May) that I'm working with.

Yesterday we went to DLR to celebrate Andy's 40th b-day. It was gorgeously empty, but a little on the warm side. Nothing like Florida, thankfully! We had no more that 10 mins waits on everything until around 6:30, all the 1/2 marathoners started showing up, so we bailed. I've lived in So. Cal for 30 something (Ahem) years, and have never participated in the 5K at DLR, so I challenged Andy for next year. We're going to do the 2010 one!
Another thing, the windows on Main Street were all decorated Halloween themed, but everything else is still "Celebrate" - it looked weird.

Your kitchen colors sound good to me. Rockie has some furniture and decor that she got while she lived in Italy. She has a lot of dark rich wood and wrought iron. It's gorgeous. The wine she has is good too! :rolleyes1

Sounds like you had a grand time at DL. Good luck with the 5K training!

*********************************************************************
It's been a busy weekend. Doug got his grill put together. I went out to celebrate, I guess, my xSIL's departure to her new life. I couldn't drink since I was driving. That was a drag but they were all toasted which was amusing. Cokes don't cost anything in this part of the country when you are with a bunch of drunks. I will miss her.

I cleaned the garage. It took me 2 days since Doogle wanted to put his grill together in there. Then he left for the races yesterday and left it in there. :headache: I had to haul it around to the patio. No small task, I assure you. That thing was heavy. We also put some gravel in some holes in the driveway. My back and shoulders are still hurting a bit.

Hey everything is lookin' good around here. Isn't it funny how some small projects and organizing make the whole world seem better. OK that and a couple of beers. :lmao:

I have to go see how brother Focker Scott is doing in Europe. He left on Thursday. He is ScottintheBronx on Twitter if anyone wants to check it out. He is visiting DLP at the end of the trip. Should be awesome!

Like I said above, I get to work the next 3. It's getting harder to get on the computer because things are picking up again. If you don't see me you'll know I was busy.

I hope you all have a nice Labor Day. Jo you have a good Sunday and Monday!

That's not too bad. I usually only make about that much when we do yard sales. I need to have one soon.

Darn! That's too bad.
I totally understand on the mother thing. I can only tolerate mine for so long.

I still want to redo my bathroom.

But I keep checking and calling and checking online to see if anything has opened up.
Good luck!

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know I did not fall off the face of the earth.
Good to see you Margie!

Ha! Ha! :lmao: you say Rosie has a quiet spell WRONG !!!:scared1:Our neighbor and another very good friend found a suicide note from her hubby!!!

Hi Mary and where has Dawn been and CE check in soon, we know you're home

Ellie had a sleepover party last night and is now asleep in my bed, we went to church, the first time since July , as they were meant to sing in the choir and Ellie got all robed up then burst into tears as her neck really hurt. I think it was tiredness too. So we're not doing anything today now as she needs to sleep :sad2:

/
My computer killed the quotes again. :lmao: It's like some kind of memory recall game....
What did the people say?

JO: Poor Ellie. That's how SD gets when he's over tired too. I am SO excited to see you soon!

Lori: Bleh, Fantasy Football. I don't get it either. I think Sept. is great (that's when I took Gus for his bday trip 2 years ago) but if you go in Aug. you'll see more Fockers.....just sayin.....:rolleyes1

Deb: The engineering supervisor sounds like he's on a power trip. :confused3

T: LOVE Tuscan yellow! So pretty! We want pics!

Margie:  We went to DL 3 years ago for a convention for Bob. We stayed at a Hyatt (I think?) and it was just a bit away from the gate. They provided buses all day long though. We loved the La Brea Bread place in their DTD area. Yummy!

Kristel: "Focus on Fun" LOL!!! :magnify:
Glad you got your stuff done.

Mary: Hello!!!! How are you? Yeah, the mother issue is really annoying. I shouldn't complain I guess, it could be worse. (But it's SO annoying!!!)

Z: I totally agree that if you want to have spending money for FandW you need to economize. So, ignore my previous comment. :sad2: You have a car, so stay over at the off-site's. I hear you on the passes. They're breaking the bank over here too! Dang Disney costing so much and us being so addicted... :rotfl2:

Rosie: Never a dull moment at Rosie's. :lmao:

Hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

**************************
Today we are going to enjoy having the boys home for just 2 more days. I think we'll go for ice cream later. And unfortunately, I have to go to the laundry mat. NO FUN. My washer broke (again, it did the same thing 3 years ago.) and I had a FULL load of whites with bleach in it. I had to wring out every single thing and drain it by hand!!!! GRRRRRRR. I called the repair guy but he's off for the holiday.

When it rains.....Well, you know......

So, only 2 weeks and 3 days till :drinking1 with everyone in Disney!!! Whoooooohoooooooo!!!

MEL:banana:

 Mel. Totally understand about the mother.

Margie, glad you're back. :goodvibes

T, your kitchen sounds fab! :thumbsup2 Mine is red and yellow, more French than Tuscan.

Z, maybe if you get there at check-in so you can enjoy the room for awhile.

Rosie, Mel's right about never a dull moment. Good thing your attitude is good!

 Debra.

Hi to everyone too! :grouphug:

I'm having tea with Tiggerbelle today which is always whilst Mitch goes to watch his football game. Of course both are at the same time since I'd like to watch the game too. His school is playing Memphis State and my parents are going to the game. Silly because MSU is only good at basketball and my parents don't care about football. Except that my mother went to Ohio State and she likes to think they have a good team, except when they are playing an SEC ream for the national championship! :rotfl: Never mind all that if you don't follow football. Where's CE? The US Open has had some amazing upsets. There's a 17 yo girl from Georgia who has made it into the 4th round. Mel, next year could be SD's year. :thumbsup2

Is anyone still going to WDW October 10? I just realized that several of you are going in a couple of weeks, meeting up. I bought my airline ticket back in May. Just wondering who else will be there. I think Jodi and Carrie are going for IpDip.

Hi Everyone Drama Magnet reporting in!!:rotfl2:

Jo I would love a quiet life, but it just don't happen:rotfl2: I thank God for my sense of humor which I definately got from my Mother. others in the Family who don't have it call it WARPED!!!!:lmao:
Mum always said GOD puts burdens on the shoulders that can carry them :scared1: I wish he'd realise I am not ATLAS!!!!:lmao:

So far today is quiet !! I did some running around and once again forgot the Q Tips I have been forgetting for over a week Soooo I have to make another trip before I am in DISGRACE!!!:rotfl2:
Have to work at 5pm and again tomorrow but that is time and a half
Then I have to work eveyday at my regular job antil NOON on Friday !! THEN I AM OFFF TO DISNEY!!!!!:banana::banana:

Hi Kristel - Sounds like you have been busy. Hope you get to take it easy (well, besides work) the next few days.

Sept is our favorite time to go, but I'm at the point that I don't want to take ds out of school. I think you made a great choice for a Sept trip.

We went in Sep '07 and I really liked that time of year as well. When we go DD will be in 2nd and DS will be in Kindy and I don't really want to take them out but I need to work around my school schedule. It kind of stinks but hey, it's what will work for us. I feel we'll be OK with those grades (we may be pushing it with DD) and the time off but once DD hits 3rd grade I won't be able to do it anymore. (That's JMO and how I feel about vacations and school though).

Awwww...poor girl. Hope she feels better when she wakes up.

Lori: Bleh, Fantasy Football. I don't get it either. I think Sept. is great (that's when I took Gus for his bday trip 2 years ago) but if you go in Aug. you'll see more Fockers.....just sayin.....:rolleyes1

The bad thing about the Fantasy Football...I gotta get the house cleaned and I just wanted a day off. :rotfl: I would LOVE to do an August trip and meet Fockers but timing probably wouldn't be right for me and school. :sad1:

UGH...sorry about the washer. That does not sound like fun at all! :headache: I thought ours was broken the other day because it wasn't doing the spin cycle but I think I had too many towels in there and it made it a heavy load (guess I should have done a different setting LOL). Enjoy your day with the boys!

HI all. EYes getting better everyday. Should be back on a rgular basis soon. I miss you all:hug:

Jimmy dysrtd 1st grade on Tuesday and he is very excited:cool1: and so am I:lmao:

I will try and check back in. Only can stay on the computer for a few minutes at a time before I have to give the eyes a rest.

Sorry for any typos

Love you all:grouphug:

ITA! My ds is in 3rd grade this year. He has always missed school in the past, but the school system here gets really strict about absences when they hit 3rd, plus they get more work. In 1st grade, I couldn't believe how much work he had to do when he returned (he missed 4 days). In 2nd grade, he only missed 2 days and the teacher didn't give him a lot of makeup work.

Deb - Glad work is a little bit better and hope it stays that way.
Thank you!

My SIL made over $400 and only had a few items left. I made $94 and had to haul a truck load of stuff back into our storage unit. I participate in a semi-annual consignemnt sale and will hopefully get ride of most of the kids clothes and toys there.

Hey everything is lookin' good around here. Isn't it funny how some small projects and organizing make the whole world seem better. OK that and a couple of beers. :lmao:
HAHA!

I hope you all have a nice Labor Day. Jo you have a good Sunday and Monday!
You too! Even if you are working

That's not too bad. I usually only make about that much when we do yard sales. I need to have one soon.
I only complained because my SIL made $400.

Maybe he is just settling in :confused3 and sorry about the Mom stuff

I think so. I am sure he is having culture shock too. He is moving from a city out west to a small town in the deep south. Plus he is used to dealing with big capital projects and we have all used equipment and no budget. So I think he will have a lot of adjustments and I am trying to give him that time before making any harsh decisions.

Ellie had a sleepover party last night and is now asleep in my bed, we went to church, the first time since July , as they were meant to sing in the choir and Ellie got all robed up then burst into tears as her neck really hurt. I think it was tiredness too. So we're not doing anything today now as she needs to sleep :sad2: Poor girl.

Deb: The engineering supervisor sounds like he's on a power trip. :confused3
Maybe. He is just really into his work and very competitive and aggressive. I am not like that so it is a sort of personality clash too.

MEL:banana:
Oh no about the washer. Woo Hoo about Disney

 Debra.

Delta called from his mothers and he is sick. DH picked him up and took him to the doc in the box.... 3 HOURS AGO!!! Still waiting for the prognosis. I am guessing strep throat which is not fun in my house. It is so hard to get rid of because it just goes from child to child. Looks like tomorrow I will be sanitizing my house...

Happy Labor Day everyone

Hey everyone! I'm trying to keep up but its hard to focus...i know you all understand but i am reading along still. I'd be lost without you ladies!

So we had a really crappy few days! Last night around 10pm we decided to shake out the bed sheets on the bed. KC had a rash he didnt know where it came from and we wanted to make sure nothing was on the bed, or behind it. Low and friggin behold we had bugs.....not just bugs friggin bed bugs! Can you say super duper really disgusting!!!!!!!!! So we threw out the mattress and box spring, threw every piece of linen we own into laundry bags and cleaned like crazy. Apparently it wasn't us that had them, they came from the outlet that shares a wall with next door. Gross neighbors, thanks a lot.

We also ended up throwing out a suitcase, a dresser, lots of pillow (including a jack skellington one :( ) and a shoji screen that was our headboard. So today we put away all the laundry we spent all hours of the night doing, and cleaned some more. We duct taped the outlet and ordered a kit to kill them.

Tonight we went to IKEA and almost bought a bed, but decided it was too much $ and went to Target and got an air mattress for the time being. Now I search online for a labor day sale and hope it won't break the bank.

KC still is telling me he doesn't feel the same way. I told him I won't give up. We still need to sit down and discuss time and how much of it we will be staying here for, because I NEED to get on my feet before I move. Anyways. Thats the latest from here in depressing NY.

Tomorrow we are going to some parade or something. As long as i get some sleep tonight I will be fine.

Night all!

Kat:hug::hug::hug:

Yikes Kat  I've heard of bed bugs but never experienced them. Are they easy to get rid of?
