I'm currently reading Real Murders by Charlaine Harris and enjoying that as well.

I love all of her stuff - in some ways, because I'm more of a mystery buff than into the fantasy stuff, I prefer either the older Lily Bard series or the new Harper Connelly series to the Sookies, but I like them, too. :thumbsup2

I've been reading along all evening but have been too lazy to quote. :rotfl:

We found a break in the rain to grill and then put the kids to bed and I'm sitting here reading one of my Vine pre-release books (which I'm enjoying, but it's straight up girl detective story - I don't know how many of you are into those. Plus it's not out until a week from today... Let me know if you want the name.) Really, it's very quiet at my house - we don't even have the TV one whilst we do other things, which is highly irregular. ;)

Man... life is so short sometimes. I logged on to FB and found out that a fellow homeschool mom from San Antonio died last night. She was diagnosed with cancer THREE WEEKS ago. :guilty:

It just makes me think about my family and our future...
My friend/neighbor's husband died in a car accident about 3 weeks ago. So sad. Really makes you think that it could happen any time. My friend was out of state visiting family with her dd when they got the call.
Had a great weekend with my boys. We went to the Tea Party Protest yesterday and met some nice people. Then to a barbeque with friends. They bought a smoker for their grill and OMG!!!! Best ribs I have ever eaten in my life! So delish!
That sounds fun! We bought a smoker but have only used it once.
T
Didn't get to talk with the kids at all yesterday and then of course when I called today all the ex did was whine to me about Lindsey and her behavior. Sorry buddy, but I don't whine to you each and every time the kids are bad so what makes you think you can to me. and the only thing I keep thinking is Karma is definitely coming around and biting him in his butt.
Too bad for him. I agree with you.
Managed a quick walk in between the showers, we went to Costa Coffee and I had a delicious strawberry thing, very yummy and very filling!
Sounds delish!
Hello Fockers! We are just back from the lake and just heard the news. I am so sad about the monorail crash. :sad1:
Hey Slate! Did you have fun?
It's tough. I am going to sign up to substitute - I made the call on Thursday and just have to go in for the application. We'll see. It makes me very nervous in some regards, but I think I need to do something.
I'm doing the same thing, but they make you take a class here, first. The next class is not until September.
They're actually quite nice, so next time we meet I'll bring skips not fruit pastilles :rotfl:

I won't be there. :upsidedow
We ended up at my Aunt's house on the 4th for a pool party and BBQ. Andy's friend supplied us with some really awesome fireworks and we had a blast, until the cops showed up and busted us.:rolleyes1 There were some kids across the street with similar fireworks and they weren't fast enough to get away from the po-po, so they got busted. All our kids rans like good Mexicans and avoided any warning or fines.:lmao: Luckily the kids across didn't go to the clink or anything. We tangled with some cool cops.:cool2:

T.:flower3:
:lmao:
T you crack me up!

Evening All !! Tomorrow is my minor surgery wish me luck!!!!

Definitely, Rosie. :hug: Let us know how you're doing as soon as you're able.

I'm doing the same thing, but they make you take a class here, first. The next class is not until September.

I don't have to do anything other than apply, which is good and bad. I have no teacher training, though I come from a family of teachers. So, am I really qualified? ;) But it's sure easier. :rotfl: We'll see.

Guess who was due a step increase...NEXT WEEK:mad: The union is fighting it becasue we agreed to work under the old Collective Barganing agreement and the step and longevity increases are in that contract. We'll see what happens.
Sorry Janet.

Thanks Mel! And everyone else who commented. :grouphug: I'm really, really proud of myself. And just a little bitter that it really takes this much work to get toned, lol!

Japan again? How long this time? :hug:
I do applaud you! I haven't made it to the gym since I had tummy flu. It's so busy here with the kids lessons and what-not. Ugh! It's hard to be dedicated!

Not Bob will be in Japan for about 11 days. Short, compared to the last two trips.....:guilty:

Have a good one! If everyone stays until about 2:00, and we have to go at 2:30 for tennis, I probably won't be back until after dinner - my tennis doesn't let out until 5:30. Hope everyone's day is great.
Sounds like everything went well with playgroup and tennis! Sorry about all the rain! My poor sister took her first vacation EVER and went to Hampton for the weekend (last week) and it rained EVERY day!!!! :sad2:

FONT=Comic Sans MS] I hope the time flies by.

So 6 round trip tickets were $838.00 I am THRILLED :banana:

Thanks! I hope so too!

That's a GREAT price for flights!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!! :banana:

Just :rotfl2:

Well I didn't get struck by lightening on the golf course but it wasn't far off :eek: Twice we sheltered because of it and the rain is now pouring, the grass needs it though :thumbsup2
Darn glad you didn't get struck by lightening! That would have been AWFUL! :scared1:

Oh, and thanks for saying we just made it as the winners! We're a VERY old married couple! LOL

So how was everyone's 4th? (you too Jo) I don't what it is lately, even when I'm not busy I am, KWIM???
I do know what you mean, Mo. That's how stuff is here too!

MO said:
So one other bit of news, I started a round of shots in the other foot shortly after returning from DL. The width of the nerve should be 1.7 and as of yesterday it is still 5.2. Dr says I probably will need surgery in the Fall, he doesn't like to do that surgery in the summer with all the natural swelling from heat and humidity. We trying a few more shots to see but it's not looking good.
So sad to hear about that, Mo. Will it affect your vacation schedule?

Well like I said if I can pull off an August trip it'll be 8/14-8/16 :goodvibes So I'll definately :magnify:
I was looking at the 26-31st.... but as I said. I'm dreaming. :rolleyes:
Don't over-do it now! Get some rest! :cloud9:

Jim made dinner for breakfast and then we've just kind of been vegging out.
:love::love::love:
I couldn't get into The Host, but I did get addicted to Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series. :thumbsup2 I'm currently reading Real Murders by Charlaine Harris and enjoying that as well.
Really love Charlaine Harris, really HATED the Host! Frankly, I don't think that Stephenie Meyer is a very good writer. Her characters are great, the story is great but her writing is sort of ....unaccomplished. The Host was really bad.
The Charlaine Harris books are SO good! I do love the Sookie ones, but as CE said I prefer the Lily Bard series and the Harper Connelly ones. They're slightly "grittier."

Love those nights! :woohoo:

Of course, Rosie! :hug:

BUSY day here. Another one tomorrow. Summer is NOT very relaxing! LOL

I baked two batches of banana muffins, a batch of blueberry/raspberry, a double batch of applesauce muffins and then made the kid's dinner. I'm exhausted. Getting Gus off to bed now so that I can have a glass of wine and RELAX finally!

Whew!

MEL:banana:

Oh, ick. :sad2:

I do love the Sookie ones, but as CE said I prefer the Lily Bard series and the Harper Connelly ones. They're slightly "grittier."

Yep, so I think you'd like the one I am reading now. It's actually the second in a series, apparently, but I don't feel like I'm missing much by jumping in on the 2nd. It's Missing Mark by Julie Kramer, her earlier one was Stalking Susan. Maybe hit the library for the first? This one isn't officially released until a week from today.

Getting Gus off to bed now so that I can have a glass of wine and RELAX finally!

Enjoy!:goodvibes

so tired. up since 5:30am. it's 10:45 now. Must go back to work at 10am. TIRED.

Just a quickie update. I spoke to one of the managers and I think I am good to stay where I am, provided I don't feel like it's exerting me too much. Here's hopin.

I'm going to pass out.

PS I may hit up the Harry Potter Premiere tomorrow after work. The camera will be with me!

I was going to suggest the Sookie Stackhouse series as well. I personally have not read them but hear they are supposed to be really good. And I agree with Mel (I think it was you) who didn't like Stephanie Myer's writing style. I had such a hard time really getting into the whole Twilight series and wound up being disappointed in the end. :confused3

Evening All !! Tomorrow is my minor surgery wish me luck!!!!

:hug: Good luck Rosie!

:thumbsup2 to Harry Potter and glad you were able to get things straightened out at work.

Went to my grandma's for dinner tonight. So nice not having to cook for a change. LOL School again in the AM and PM so I probably won't be on much. Hope y'all have a good night and good day tomorrow. :grouphug:

They are listed as an appetizer and yes, they do melt in your mouth. ;)
I've just realised they're probably prawn crackers, are they white? If so they're quite different, I'll definitely have to bring you some next time so you can try them :rotfl2:

It's too quiet around here anymore:sad2:
Too quiet :sad2:

Evening All !! Tomorrow is my minor surgery wish me luck!!!!
Lots of good luck Rosie :hug:

I won't be there. :upsidedow
So you don't have to try the skips? ;):rotfl2: Sorry about your friend!

Yep, terrible isn't it, did you also read about the rape at Wet n Wild? :sad2:

Oh, and thanks for saying we just made it as the winners! We're a VERY old married couple! LOL
You're welcome :rotfl2:

You're more of a vampire than Kat is aren't you :rotfl2:

I was meant to play a golf match today but it's raining so we rearranged till Friday, of course it's now stopped but if we had played it would have carried on :sad2: I'm now listening to the Disney Brit podcast because I'm on it!!! I haven't got to me yet so will link you and tell you when to listen from as the podcast is over 2 hours :faint:

If you're interested go to itunes, search Disney Brit podcast, it's episode 19 and we're on from about 45 minutes in, I sound quite common :rotfl:

If you don't want to listen to it all just go to 1.28 as I'm sure you'll agree :rotfl:

Cool! I will PM you our plans for those days!

Excellent!

I was looking at the 26-31st.... but as I said. I'm dreaming. :rolleyes:
Don't over-do it now! Get some rest!

My AP expires the 16th or the 21st I think.
I'm trying not to over-do, what I do sounds minimal to what some of you guys get accomplished in a day. You don't over-do now. ;)

I knew I wasn't crazy and her writing style wasn't all that (I still haven't finished Breaking Dawn) :upsidedow (sorry Kat).

Although I'm not much of a fan of the Sookie books either, read the 1st one and it wasn't for me. Not because of the author's writing style, I just didn't like Sookie the character nor much of the other characters. I'm more a Laurell K. Hamilton kind of girl. :teeth:

Wooo! I can't wait for HP!:wizard: Just be careful with your back Kat :hug:

Morning Fockers! I didn't beat Jo, but did I beat Mel! :eek:

Hope everyone has a lovely day, I'll try to check in later.

Gotta run to the grocery store and then off to work.

TTYL! :wave:

BTW- I'm taking recommendations for books to read, if you didn't see my FB status yesterday. Any other suggestions??
Some of my go-to faves:

Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.

Anything by John Grisham.

Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt books.

All of Anne Rivers Siddon's books.

Evening All !! Tomorrow is my minor surgery wish me luck!!!!
Absolutely! :hug::hug:

Summer is NOT very relaxing! LOL
No kidding! I'm exhausted just looking at my calendar for the next 2 months. :faint:

Oooo, don't tell me anything about it - I'll have to wait until 7/25 to see it! :sad1:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morning Fockers! :wave:
Mind if I vent?
:sad2: It's been one of those months I guess - smallish things just keep getting heaped on the pile and the pile is now threatening to topple.
First, the ex has missed the last 3 child support payments. Thankfully, I'd built a savings account for upcoming vacations... which will soon be depleted as I'm using it to cover what child support would have. This happens at least once a year, usually around this time, so it's not a surprise. But I'm so very tired of never getting ahead.
Second, I'm stressing over my planned Buffalo trip. I'm supposed to visit 3 friends... one of them I've called, texted, FB'd and emailed and still can't get a yes or no from as far as staying with her for a night. Another friend is going through major difficulties with her boyfriend... with whom she lives and we'd be staying while visiting. He's threatening to throw her out any day now. Oh, and the rental car I'll need costs money - which I don't have. See above. :headache:
Also, I'm working so hard to eat right and get in shape and Gramma's hell-bent on sabotaging it. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support and cheers I get here, because I get the opposite at home. Example: last night, Gramma said "I'm making sausages and mac & cheese - help yourself!" To which I replied - nicely - "Oh thank you, but I have something else planned for tonight." Gramma: "Well, it's antibiotic-free chicken sausage and whole-grain mac & cheese - what more do you want?"
:confused:
I attempted to explain that A. I'm not eating any meat right now, and B. my daily menu is planned to include the right mix of protein, carbs, fruit and vegetables, and while I'm sure her meal is delicious, it's not what I've planned for the day. In return I received a snide remark about my workout routine and the cold shoulder for the rest of the night. This, from the woman who ate an entire pie whilst reading a diet book. :rolleyes:
Add in Leo's absence, and well... I've just had enough. I'd like to mentally check out for a few days at this point. But I'll muddle through and perk up, I'm sure. Just getting it out helps! :grouphug:
God Morning All !! I have to be at the hospital in an hour and I am still in PJs !! Did do dishes though!!!! Samanthas laptop is on its way back and then I' m sending mnie in, so maybe my typing will improve I am sick of havin to go back every other word and correct the missed letters !!
Oh, honey. :hug: and more :hug:.
I'm always here with an ear if you need it. I do still have your cell # - I can text you or something if you need mine. :goodvibes
Be thinking of you, Rosie. :hug:
dammit I had this HUGE multiquote post and it poofed.
I hate when that happens. (Did anyone else just flash to 80's SNL? :rotfl:)
**************************************************
Well...
I think I made a huge error. :lmao: I got up, made the kids their breakfast and then did some Wii Active. I can already feel it in my butt, and I agreed last night to sub into a tennis class today. I figured it would be my "fun" class again, but after I'd agreed, he said it was my old Monday morning singles class, just moved. Now, it is fun, but he tries to kill us with one particular drill, and I do NOT know how that will go after the stuff I just did.
I may not be able to leave my bed tomorrow. :rotfl2:
(I did the first day of the 30 day challenge at medium, and then the sports day workout - easy.) It felt like a lot of squats and jumping, which was interesting. :rolleyes: :rotfl:
Anyway, then, I'm heading to the gym in a few hours. D went to the office. Woody is actually now doing the Wii Active - I didn't think they'd have any interest, but he saw some of my basketball/tennis stuff and thought it looked fun. :confused3
That's really all I know. I should shower, even before the killer tennis, and we might go by the grocery store on the way to the gym - I forgot to buy Diet Pepsi on Monday and I'm dying without it! ;)
hi! :wave2: Im still alive!
Had a GREAT weekend. Lets just leave it at that. ;)
school is building up and im getting stressed now. I have lots of work and didnt too great on the midterm which stressed me out! Ive pretty much checked out of my other class because it doesnt matter, but it makes me feel bad as well.
oh and im moving on tuesday and havent started packing. :scared1: Marc was supposed to come home yesterday but traded shifts so now i wont have him to help me with any of the packing!
overall ive just been stressed and unable to concentrate. I've been to excited and distracted by other things.
i only skimmed a little so im going back to look for a kristel update!
