That is great Slate! Do you remember that trip? If so what were the highlights?

Let's see...what do I remember? The night that we left (me and my mom) we went to the Ford place and daddy bought a new green van (Econo?), we went home, he threw a mattress in the back, loaded up me and my mom and sent us on our way. We stopped in Fayetteville to pick up my aunt and cousins. I guess we drove all night because I remember daylight and winning 25 cents for spotting the 1st Disney sign. I vaguely remember picking my dad up from the airport. As for the highlights: staying in the tree houses! :banana: They were awesome!!! Then they had a bedroom downstairs and a spiral staircase and there were peacocks roamimg freely. I had my first ham, cheese, and Dorito sandwich there. :thumbsup2 I also remember some sort of ski lift type thing and I think there used to be swings where Dumbo is. :confused: Of course, the Teacups and I think Country Bear Jamboree was outside. Oh yeah, and IASW. I got a bunch of dolls of the world for Christmas that year.

Not so highlightable: As a child, I was forced to take piano. I hated it...screaming, crying hated it. Well, my mother "surprised" me one night of the trip with a piano music book of Disney songs. :mad: Being the spoiled child that I was, I pitched a royal fit and refused to go to the MK that night for the fireworks. I also remember her asking me to write my name in said book, which I did, one big red letter per page.. :rolleyes: Yes, I still have that book and no, I have never played a song from it and no, I most certainly do not play the piano now. (insert Tinkerbelle pouting smiley)

Dawn, I apologize for the utter stupidity of this question, but is that for Baylie to perform in now, or at the end of next year.
Very cute costume, though.
Why is that a stupid question? Don't be silly. :hug: This is the song/costume for this school year coming up. She has to learn it this summer to perform it for her team and director the first week of August. The competition season is in the spring. The director will tell her if it's appropriate or if something needs to be changed. Her old teacher/co-director is coming next Wednesday to teach her the dance. :thumbsup2 Probably more than you wanted to know... but there it is. ;)

I'm a little afraid to post my wedding photos, you guys might think I'm not like you guys...
:confused3 We're all supposed to be alike? ;)

Well......I'm sick of being sick. It's official. :rotfl2:

Why is Kickapoo Blank Blank (sorry forget your name) worried about posting her picture?
Are you a vampire? Don't show up in photos?

Maybe you're ***GASP*** a SUPERMODEL?

LOL

Just funnin' ya...

MEL:banana:
It's nice to see Mel's smart-alecness is coming back. You must be feeling better. :banana: :lmao:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had a playdate today with some friends. It was so nice to chat with an adult with no kid interruptions. :cloud9: Then B's friend came over and went to church with her. She's sleeping over. Her mom and I watched SYTYCD together and chatted. It was a good day. :lovestruc
It's so nice to be back. I think I didn't let myself think about how much I missed everyone and everything here because it wasn't an option to sit around missing all of it. But now that I'm home, I realize how much I missed having really great friends. I didn't want to make my friends from my old town feel bad, so I didn't post that it was nice to be home on FB. But it so is... :cutie:
Okay I think I caught up!!
Kat really KOOL work clothes !!!Did I miss that you started !!????:confused3 Hope KC stays strong about the Dead Beat friend !! I have a soon to be ex SIL who is just like it a total misfit !!!
Juice .... I kinda like English History too:rotfl2: Just a tidbit my Home Town is where they swore the oath to make King John sign the Magna Carte!! I loved Shakespeare and went to the Old Vic and to Stratford to see Plays !!!:cool1:
I think the woman on the bench who assaulted Tink should be boiled in oil !!:thumbsup2
Jo loved the wedding pix .. The church doorway is sooo English!!:lmao:
I was not married in the Middle Ages it was the Stone Age !!!!:rotfl2:
Judy is doing absolutely wonderfully!! Today she hung pictures in the livingroom,went for about a 2 mile brisk walk, cooked supper and is just busting with energy!! Says no pain at all !! I think she is feeling vey good about herself and it is a joy to see !!:banana:
That is insanely cool! I really want to take the girls to see the British Isles someday, along with Norway. All the countries that are in EPCOT, I want them to see in real life before they grow up and go off to college. I'm glad your Judy is feeling better-it makes a huge difference in how you feel about life when you feel good.
I just think I look kind of dorky in real life-I'm almost 6 feet tall and I always feel like a moose around petite people, although in my wedding photos my DH is 6'4" and the rest of my family are mostly 6 footers and over, so in the photos I actually look normal :rotfl2:.
I'm up so early this morning because DH has started early (early!!!!) morning walks and I'm walking with him, so my stuff's in gear waaaaay earlier than normal.
No ringing shirts today at work, Jan (replacement) is taking her DD to the American Idol tryouts today!
Hi, guys - not a lot of time, and with Field Day yesterday I missed the whole day (when you apparently decided to get chatty on me! :lmao:) so I'm not multi-quoting.
JenV - my dad, thinking he was having more kidney stones, actually had a lot of tests involving kidney function and so on and thankfully they caught a non-Hodgkins lymphoma. We all know that cancer sucks :hug: but if he has to have it, this is not a horrible kind to have. It's treatable and survival rates are great. He's going through 6 rounds of chemo (no radiation) that are two days in one week, then 3 weeks off. They had said the first one would probably be really bad as far as reaction and so on, but it wasn't nearly as bad as he feared, and hopefully the rest will be not even that bad. He was worried about working on the farm all summer, but so far, while he is getting tired, he's able to do everything he needs to do.
And I can't believe that woman. :mad:
Jo - yep, the subbing would be paid, and I could always have the option of saying no, I'm busy, I can't do that today. I think it's ideal - IF I can figure out how to teach. :rotfl:
Mel - hope today is going better, and that NotBob gets home soon.
V - glad you loved your horses! :)
Janet - sorry about a busy day at work, hope today is not!
Hi, Rosie!
Hi, S'late - love the wedding pic and the one from 1976. I was there in 1977. I do indeed remember the E-tickets. :)
KJJ - seriously, if you look at the big meet photo in my signature (and some of the other ladies' also) I'm the giant in the back row. :rotfl:There are a lot of shorties in our group. :rolleyes1 :lmao: T is tall, but not as tall as I am... So, I'm dying to meet another taller Focker - bring it on! :thumbsup2
Kristel - thanks again for the update, hope your day goes well today!
Hi, Deb! I meant to say something more profound, but I'm losing it. :rotfl:
Dawn - so glad you're loving being "home" :goodvibes and the costume is cool!
Hi, Heather! Hi, Margie!
Sorry if I missed anyone...
******************************************************
Field Day was fun yesterday, and it was gorgeous - after days of rain, and a 10 day forecast with, no joke, NO sun involved, it was lucky it was nice yesterday.
D seemed to have a good day on the boat, too.
No word yet on the car - the catalytic converter the workshop ordered from Saturn was the wrong one - D's car is a manual transmission, the converters are different than for automatic, but the part # is the same. :headache: So, not even that was done, and so we don't know about the exhaust system. Maybe today. So, D is taking me to tennis and working out himself, then he'll probably leave me stuck at home in the afternoon (oh, no! :rolleyes::rotfl2:) while he goes out to do some work.
My laptop is now posted as "shipped" back to the Best Buy, so D spent a lot of time last night playing on this one, to see if we want to keep it. It's so cheap that it's tempting, but it's also not got a lot of the stuff he wanted for his next computer. So, do we spend just under $300 now and have something that is just OK for another couple of years, or do we wait until next year and save the $300 towards something he really wants? His is so bad that I'm leaning toward getting this one as a stop-gap, but it might not make sense if it's not what he really wants. :confused3 And I think mine might come in today, so a decision is needed pretty soon.
Anyway, we need to head out to the gym. I'll be back this afternoon, seems like! :goodvibes
I'm a little afraid to post my wedding photos, you guys might think I'm not like you guys...
Trust me - most of us are about as different from each other as is possible! It's why I love hanging with these folks; we're like the poster children for "We CAN all get along!"
112832wedding-medium.jpg
Have you posted this before? Was I in school - I don't remember seeing this at all! Beautiful :goodvibes
may I present 1976-ish:
112832KMB_4_.jpg
Holy rompers Batman! :rotfl: I loved my rompers and clearly remember wearing my blue terrycloth one to MK... also in 1976. ;)
I tried to retrieve my current ressies and they keep telling me I am putting in the wrong phone number.:confused3
Mine have somehow migrated to a couple different phone numbers, even though I made them all under a single number. :confused3 Then again, WDW has me listed under no less than 2 names, 2 addresses, 3 phone numbers and 4 email addresses. I never know which profile they'll pull when I call; I just go along with whichever one they choose, lol!
I think the woman on the bench who assaulted Tink should be boiled in oil !!:thumbsup2
Now THAT's British! You should really give Jo some lessons Rosie. LY Jo! :hug::rotfl2:
It's so nice to be back. I think I didn't let myself think about how much I missed everyone and everything here because it wasn't an option to sit around missing all of it. But now that I'm home, I realize how much I missed having really great friends.
:goodvibes I'm so glad Dawn!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Something gigantic seems to have bitten me; my lower arm's all swelled up and itchy-owy. I also have a massive headache, no doubt due to the half-bag of Cheetos I ate yesterday afternoon. :headache: I did work it off, though - Wii Active kicked my butt last night! :faint:

Not a lot to report here. I'm messing with August planning and am giving serious thought to a resort downgrade to save some money. I've been contemplating for a week now and just can't seem to get it done. :guilty: I'm sick of being responsible!

Hope Thursday treats you all right! :grouphug:

V, hope you feel better. :hug:

CE, have fun at field day. :goodvibes

Slate, my bridesmaids wore red too. :thumbsup2

Today is Reid's 2nd birthday. pirate: We're having a swimming party here Saturday morning. Just us and one set of grandparents so it won't be a big deal. I'm baking cupcakes, chocolate per Reid, that's my nephew! :goodvibes Not much else going on this week which is good so I can hang out in the pool. :thumbsup2

Not sure if "Boiled in Oil"s British !! But it does have a certain ring to it !!!:rotfl2:
I am keeping tags on the new online ressie thing !! I am concerned to hear that you can make multiple ressies for the same time frame !! I think this is gonna tie up spots fo all of us ! Any thoughts from my Focker friends ????:confused3

:rotfl2: I think it falls in nicely with being drawn and quartered and burned at the stake! Beheading's so lack-luster, comparatively. ;)

Oh shoot, are you sure you want to get me started?!

I'm not really worried about double bookings; that's always been available by using multiple phone numbers. I'm a lot more worried that Disney's computer functionality has been iffy as long as it's been around; I have little faith this new system is operating properly and have visions of it allowing a whole bunch more ADRs than restaurants can actually handle. I hope I'm proven wrong... but I'm now exploring off-site options for Aug. :rolleyes:

Hey all! :goodvibes A quick drive by while my dad takes the younger two boys for a walk. That should exhaust him for the rest of the day :laughing: #1 is finishing his last tests of the school year :woohoo:

I hope everyone has a great Thursday!:hug:

Dawn, gotcha! Nice outfit-Baylie's age must stink to get a costume for (looks wrong if she's in something little girl-ish, but not something too old either).
Hey all!

I'm a little afraid to post my wedding photos, you guys might think I'm not like you guys...
Don't worry... nobody is like us :rotfl2:

Debra, you have such a good deal booked and HRH is very cool. Maybe it could be a reconnaissance trip for when you bring the kids back. :)
Don't tell Zeta but I still haven't cancelled

And Mooch! How cute!

KC has an old friend...
You are doing the right thing by not giving him a handout. I just hope it doesn't become a wedge between you and KC :hug:

Some of you may have heard... I got into an altercation today. :angel:
What a horrible woman! I probably wouldn't have been able to contain myself. Bravo to you!

Oh! Yeah, I am watching the jersey housewives.
I feel really left out bc i don't watch this show. Please tell me what channel and time/day so I can tivo it. Oh peer pressure! What we do just to fit in!

Thanks for the compliments on the costume.
It is a cute costume! I saw some of your pics on FB and all of them are adorable. Makes me want to sign chi up for dance!

I tried to retrieve my current ressies and they keep telling me I am putting in the wrong phone number.:confused3
Oh no!

I had my first ham, cheese, and Dorito sandwich there.
Yum?

We had a playdate today with some friends.
I'm confused? Did you move back to somwhere you lived before?

I just think I look kind of dorky in real life-I'm almost 6 feet tall and I always feel like a moose around petite people, although in my wedding photos my DH is 6'4" and the rest of my family are mostly 6 footers and over, so in the photos I actually look normal :rotfl2:.
I'm 5'4" and taller than my DH

Hi, Deb! I meant to say something more profound, but I'm losing it. :rotfl:
Hi CE!
Hope your car gets fixed real soon.

Hope you get feeling better. and :hug: about the downgrading. I think we are all making some sacrifices right now.

Today is Reid's 2nd birthday. pirate:
Happy Birthday Reid!

Oh shoot, are you sure you want to get me started?!
I think we will eat offsite more next time too. The ADRs just stink and I really don't like any counter service places inside the parks.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday!:hug:
You too!

Dawn, gotcha! Nice outfit-Baylie's age must stink to get a costume for (looks wrong if she's in something little girl-ish, but not something too old either).
Hey all!
It is really hard... especially when she wears junior sizes. :sad2:

It is a cute costume! I saw some of your pics on FB and all of them are adorable. Makes me want to sign chi up for dance!
Thanks! I really love the time we get together doing competitions and I love to see B so passionate about something. :cutie:

Yes. We moved back to my hometown- Austin. We were in San Antonio 3 years. Kirt's company moved promoted him both times, which is why we moved. :rolleyes:

We're going to the pool this afternoon and dance tonight. Fun day... :thumbsup2

CE, have fun at field day. :goodvibes

It was yesterday, but thanks. It was good, and so was my "fun" tennis this morning.

Today is Reid's 2nd birthday. pirate: We're having a swimming party here Saturday morning. Just us and one set of grandparents so it won't be a big deal. I'm baking cupcakes, chocolate per Reid, that's my nephew! :goodvibes

Don't worry... nobody is like us :rotfl2:

Also true. :rotfl:

Hi CE!
Hope your car gets fixed real soon.

Thanks! No word yet today - the right catalytic converter was supposed to get there today.

We're going to the pool this afternoon and dance tonight. Fun day... :thumbsup2

Have fun!

OK, my turn to vent, as a pilot's wife:

We got back from the gym and turned on CNN. They're all in a panic, reporting on the pilot who died inflight from Belgium to NY. Freaking out, covering it live, covering the Tweets about it, etc., etc.

First, if D were flying commercial planes, you can be d*$& sure that I would know if he was captain on that flight - they better not have started reporting this before his family found out.

Secondly, while this is horrible and tragic for the pilot and his family, this was a TOTAL non-event for the passengers.

Pilots take turns on legs all the time. The captain flies a leg in charge, the FO flies it the next, so the FO flies ALL the time, in control. Not only is there a first officer on board, there has to be a "relief" pilot on international flights as well - who comes in and sits whilst one of the cockpit crew goes to the bathroom or whatever. I know not everyone knows this, but couldn't the news check it out BEFORE going into "tragedy" mode?

Thirdly, they're all panicky about the weather. Hello, flights land in the rain, on instruments, daily.

D was just yelling at the TV...

Sigh.

I am SO pissed that they reported this the way they did. It should have been after the fact, hey, this happened, everything was fine. Sending everyone into frantic mode without checking the facts is just plain freaking stupid. They finally got an ex-pilot on, who came on and made all these points, and then things calmed down, but... :mad::mad::mad:

Sorry.

*********************************************
I think now that D wants me to drop him off at the library for him to have a quiet place to work on his safety manual, and I will head to the grocery store. I don't know if he wants me to pick him back up on the way home, or maybe later with the kids.

I think we will eat offsite more next time too. The ADRs just stink and I really don't like any counter service places inside the parks.
I actually like some CS options a lot, but really like to have someone wait on me once in a while. And, back when WDW was courting locals with yummy food and top-notch restaurants, I got hooked! I'm so frustrated with the 180 they've done over teh past few years. :mad:

You're at SSR now?
CR and SSR. The SSR won't change - that's on points, so free. Ish. ;) But I can save some money if I switch from CR to CBR for the first 3 nights. I have to decide just what I'm willing to forgo outside of WDW to have monorail access. :rolleyes:
OK, my turn to vent, as a pilot's wife:
Seriously - even I know this stuff! The media's all about stirring things up to get viewers. :sad2:

me either. Let's create a holiday where we have one day (or one hour at least) where we don't have to be responsible

OK, my turn to vent, as a pilot's wife:
:hug: unfortunately, the media makes a living off reporting 'tragedy'. It is the only industry that I can think of where they can manipulate their own supply and demand. If there is not enough 'tragedy' then they make up stuff and report it to make it sound tragic.

********************************************************

Chi and Omicron are going to their dads this evening and I think I am finally at peace with it. I know they will have fun and will return to me shortly. Looks like Alpha and Delta will go to VA to visit their grandma and grandpa too so it will be a rather quiet house this week. Oh, except I am babysitting my friend's two boys for the weekend.

I have a question. Why do kids not understand that when you are dirty you need a bath... Period? It doesn't matter how many baths you had the day before or even if you had one that morning. If you are dirty then you are dirty. If you took one thousand baths and then decided to play in the mud, well you are dirty. I am so sick of explaining this to them.

Another recent pet peeve of mine is wearing sunglasses inside the office. :cool2: Is this really necessary? We don't even have windows in our cell...er I meant cubicle.

On a totally different note... it looks like Zeta may possibly have a job offer closer to home :yay: Please keep your fingers crossed

My kids apparently associate bath/shower with bed - I can hardly get them to do it any other time. Kids are weird. :rotfl:

Will do!

*******************************************************
Change of plan - D would rather work at Panera than the library (able to make phone calls) and so I'll take him there, do my shopping, come home, and maybe take the kids to go pick him up, where we might then go out to dinner. :thumbsup2

At any rate, I should be back after dropping him and going to the store. ;)

Just a quick hello from rainy and yucky NY. I think Target will be moved to Sunday since KC is still sleeping. Chinese food may be ordered and movies may be watched. Rain stinks.

Ok, here are two pictures from our wedding, circa 1993. We're a goofy bunch-the photos are from all of us doing the song "Rock Lobster" by the B-52's, where you have to sink to the floor. Some of us did it more gracefully than others :lmao:

OldPhotos024.jpg

I was not one of the graceful ones! I'm going to blame it on not wearing my glasses and couldn't see the floor clearly, lol...

You said you didn't think you looked like us. Well from what I can see you are beautiful. So my question is...

Are you calling us ugly?
