So as you all know right now I am set to do a one year Human Resources program starting in September. I am now waffling on that and seriously thinking about going into nursing instead. I would be earning a second degree if I did that and it would mean 4 more years of school unless I am able to get credit for some courses that I took while earning my first degree. I haven't decided yet, if I do go this route I wouldn't be starting school again until next fall! My big hang-up with this plan is that I would be almost 30 by the time I finished with school. :faint: I would have spent just over a decade of my life in university. :eek: I just don't know if it is a good idea or not or whether I would even get into the program. :confused3

Lessa I don't know what to tell you! What do you truly want to do job wise?

That's the thing, I am not passionate about any one career path. I am trying to figure out the most practical thing for me to do that will guarantee steady employment that pays a decent amount of money. Nursing seems the way to go and I know I could handle the job and enjoy it I just hate how much time it would take to do the program. I wish I could have figured this all out years ago when I was doing my first degree. :rolleyes:

Lessa if you're not passionate about it really think hard if it's the right move for you. Isn't Rachel a nurse? Could you ask her some stuff?

What jobs could you do with the degree you have?

If you could do absolutely anything, money and training no object what would it be?

My problem is that I was silly and went and got a degree in English Lit and Classical Studies. Doesn't open up a whole lot of career paths.

I wish I had a dream job but I really don't. I just want something where I will be accomplishing something with my life and earning enough money to live comfortably and be able to take care of my mom when she can no longer work due to her MS.

I have thought about maybe going into teaching, it is something that I would enjoy but again would require going back to school for a year.

I would be happy doing the one year Human Resources program if I could be sure that I would be able to get a job afterwards but there is not that guarantee there like there is with nursing. :guilty:

Mel! They say pot works for glaucoma also!! just sayin!! :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: Mel- You could get your stoke on.

NOW they tell me!?! :lmao: Leaving in 20 mins. I had to read what you guys posted first though!

Carrie: Want pics of the puppy! I almost pm'd you yesterday to say hi and where are you! But, there you are.

Lessa: Nurses are in HIGH demand here in the States. Is it the same in Canada?

I'll pop in later (or Bob will if I'm feelin' bad) and let you guys know.
Right now the waiting is killing me.

MEL:banana:

Mel, good vibes to you today. :goodvibes I hope the Dr. goes well.

And Jen...Pilar can have him :rotfl2: Not loving Disney...:confused3

Jo, you must be sad about your sister.:hug: My sister moved to Nevada years ago and I was a wreck. Then she moved back and I moved.

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm taking #3 to see March of the Penguins because he's so bored while his brothers are gone. Anyone see it? It's free, so if it's awful we'll just leave.

Gosh...take one evening off to spend time with the family and there are 8 pages to catch up on...and Katt says I talk alot:rolleyes:

There was too much to multi-quote but lets see what I remember:

Jen2 - Dr. Hottie is a dud:sad2:

Jen1 - Good decision:goodvibes

T - Evan's face in that pic is priceless...Te on the other hand looks like she is going to hurl!;)

Dawn - Is looks adorable without her toothprincess:

Carrie - Pictures of the pup please...My neighbor has a bassett. So cute:goodvibes

Jo - :hug: fro you having to tell the girls bout Emma. When does she have to move?

Mel - I missed you but :hug:

Lessa - Have you ever taken one of those "career" tests? They ask you a bunch of questions about interests, etc and then tell you a bunch of careers that would match them?

Janet~ How was Harrisburg?

~~~~~~~~~~
So #3 decided he doesn't want to go to the movies because it's not animated and so it won't be funny. :confused: He's doing math instead :confused3
March of the Penguins. It's free at the theater right by the house, so I figured we'd go. He just isn't interested. No animation=No funny.
Jen- I'm glad to see you again. I'm still interested to know the name so we can be aware if it becomes a problem. :confused3
Jen2- Oh No! Ouch!!!! :eek:
T- Loved the picture! :laughing: Thanks for saying my baby is a cutie. :cutie: I think I bought the pillow online or at a craft shop. The tooth is a pocket.
Carrie- Hi! :goodvibes Congrats on the new puppy!
Parla- Yep. I'm a lucky girl. He's a keeper. :lovestruc I agree when Mia Michaels said that I thought she was being harsh since Jessica was standing right there. She's a little crankier this year. :confused3
Sounds like you had a fun day! :banana:
Jo- I'm sure it'll be hard telling the girls that she's moving. :hug:
Mel- I'm already thinking of you!!! :grouphug:
Lessa- Good luck with your decision. My cousin is starting a 2 yr nursing program in the fall. She'll be 47 when she's done. She seems to love it, but the classes sound hard to me! :rolleyes:
My MIL took the kids and said they hated it. It wasn't funny and eventually some peguins die and the kids were very sad.
I wouldn't go, but that's just me. :rolleyes:
Gotta love a homeschool kid! :lmao:
Did you see the shirt I bought while you were gone? It's for DS5 who's a loud, fun boy.
Good morning! :goodvibes We don't have big plans for the day. The kids are sleeping over at MIL's tonight so K and I can go to a 4 hour homeschooling through high school seminar. I'm so excited to go. I know, I'm a dork. ;) :rotfl:
OMG! I'm so glad you told me. He is pretty adamant about not going, but now I won't push the issue. THANK YOU!
Lessa, one of the smaller schools down here has a "transition to teaching" program for older people who already have a degree. It's a much shorter program than the traditional degree in education. I've actually been thinking about doing it when both kids are in school full time, but I'm not sure. I figure I may work as a substitute teacher for awhile first to make sure I really want to do it.
The question is.... the seminar is only four hours long, right? What are you going to do with the rest of your evening?? :rolleyes1 Just kidding, Dawn! :rotfl2:
Good Morning FOCKER FRIENDS! This is JEN! YES JEN!
I am going to play with my siggie a bit and try to restore it to pre-stalker. Let's all sing together, "I'm coming out! I want the world to know..."
BTW...
Mel- You go girl! We are all her for you!
Dawn- What a funny shirt!
Lessa- How about an English Teacher?
