Team Edward or Team Jacob?

But I didn`t ask for your opinions

Chill out my 11 year old sister who is normaly over VERY dramatic and throws the biggest fit if you don't agree with her. Respects my i hate twilight opinions.
Just this morning she was reading it in the living room and i said "if i throw it outside will it sparkle or if i take its cover off will it die (i wish that would work)" that and other things saying i don't like it. She didn't have a cow about it at all.

i think that the disney princess movies have an equally bad, if not worse message for girls.

Not as bad but still not bad as twilight the princess never had suicidal thought so over a guy.
They are also much older, If i remember correctly wasn't it the late 60s early 70s? (?) that women started standing up for the rights much more.

Sleeping Beauty (1959)

The later princess are much stronger female characters.
Twilight is a much newer thing.

actually, the first wave of the feminist movement was around the 1920s, which was still heavy in the memories of the artists who drew a 12 year old snow white being married off to the first man who comes along.

sleeping beauty, in the original fairy tale, was raped. (it wasn't a kiss that woke her up. )

cinderella, well i don't even have to get into how horrible of an idea that one is. she's a slave who is only liberated by her man.

but what about ariel? thats really recent. and jasmine. they were still controlled by men who only had a "happily ever after" when ANOTHER man came along and made it for them.

and in beauty and the beast, the fairy tale, belle was a "gift" to the beast to slate his lust and stop him from raping the prettier girls in the village.

yeah, all great things to build children's stories off of. i really think they're just as bad as bella who's only whole when she has edward/jacob/whomever the flavor of the week is.

the fact of the matter is, there are few healthy relationship stories out there for children, because those jsut aren't as entertaining. people want to see that, "i'm going to die without you" kind of love, which in real life ususally doesn't work out the way it does in the movies.

OK and the Disney movie changed the original fairtytales in a good way.
I still find very strong, independent female characters.

Tiana is a very strong female character who can hold her own.

and I was REALLY into the books. I pretty much pioneered the insane Twilight obsession, at least within my group of friends. everyone thought I was a loon, until movie hype started picking up and then they were the obsessed ones.

But Robert Pattinson is gross.
So team Jacob... Taylor Lautner is a better actor, and he's also much cuter.

I'm just so sick of all the hype. The books aren't terrible... well, actually, they're pretty badly written. But they're mindless enjoyment.
