TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

First off, Tigger, sorry, I'll resend you my weight with MY team name this time.

Sorry folks, I've been gone for the past few days. I've been busy with work and life at home. I'm proud of myself for continuing to work out each day, even though I haven't hit the boards. I've also been eating well and HAVE not had any Coke at all this week. WOW. I did have to have coffee, yuck ( sorry to you coffee drinkers ) to get going this morning. I still have headaches, some more intense than others.

A little disappointed on the scale was hoping for a bigger drop. But not discouraged, gonna keep plugging away at it each day. One more work out to go tomorrow and then I'll rest on Sunday.

Thanks everyone for being here.

THanks Peter! You're forgiven;)

Good evening everyone,

Just had a rush of about 6 more weigh ins! It seems pretty equal by sight! I need to have DH fix the Donald page as the calculations at the top aren't working.

We're watching Primeval right now.

I'm sooooo tired! SO I think I will be calling it a night. It looks like basketball will be a go for tomorrow as we're not expecting much snow here.

I just emptied my inbox again so we should be all set for this week!

Remember that you have until Monday night at 7:30 to submit your weigh ins! NO EXCEPTIONS! Wow, I feel like I'm back teaching again and telling the 5th graders that everything was due on a certain date, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Have a great night and I hope to give a more thorough update tomorrow after I get some sleep!

TTFN :tigger:

Does anyone have a great android app that they use for tracking and would like to recommend? I've seen some of you mention "Lose It", but can't find it in the android market, so I assume it's for the iphone. - TIA

I have "My Fitness Pal". It has a food & exercise tracker and what's cool is it also has a UPC scanner so I just scan stuff and it adds it in.

Lovetoscrap - Not sure if you have a Trader Joe's around, but if you do, their frozen turkey meatballs are pretty good and not too bad for you.

Those sound good!

Wow..what a busy day! I finally took a day off from the gym but only because I didn't have time. I substitute taught for a fifth grade teacher today. It was the first time I worked with 5th graders. Luckily they were a good class and it was fun. After working all day with 5th graders I had an evening of fun with 1st graders. I ran my daughter's Girl Scout Daisy meeting. I'm the co-leader for her troop and the leader had a family emergency so I offered to fill in for her.
I am going to sleep well tonight.

I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow. I think there is a 10:45 BodyPump class so I can even sleep in a little.

I hope everyone has a great weekend:goodvibes and is successful with staying on their eating plans.:thumbsup2

Looks like we had some good numbers this week for TEAM DONALD!

I'm popping on the post the QOTD for tomorrow a little early so you east coast folks will have it in the am and I will be back tomorrow for replies.

As you think back on where you are in your journey to good health and where we are in the challenge, it doesn't hurt to think about your past forays in the area.

Here is an article from sparkpeople.com that might interest you:

Do You Suffer from Diet Rage?
Rules of the Road to Help You Reach Your Destination

-- By Mike Kramer, Staff Writer

After slowing down to an unexplained stop for the 147th time in the space of 2 miles, I decided that I hated the world. Surrounding me were an ocean of maddening brake lights, rain pelting the windshield and thousands of tons of steel and fiberglass flung around by a clueless pack of selfish morons who obviously didn’t know the first thing about driving!!

It was in serious danger of ruining my whole day.

Is there anything more frustrating than being bogged down in traffic? Most all of us have been there before. That discouraged, fed up feeling that just makes us want to throw up our hands in surrender or lay them on the horn.

Thankfully, I stopped muttering helplessly and started thinking instead. And I realized that I often witness another type of "road rage" – the frustration that builds on the road to weight loss: Diet Rage.

Think about your dieting history. Does it give you the same feeling as an exasperating traffic jam? You never quite get where you want to go as fast as you want to get there. You get aggravated, yell (usually at yourself), and see people in other lanes going faster than you (how do they DO that?!), and it usually ends up ruining your day.

Here’s the lesson: Getting frustrated with your diet does no more good than getting frustrated in traffic. It just makes you unhappy, unsuccessful and tense.

By the time I got to work (it was a long commute), I noticed a lot of things that we, as weight loss veterans, can learn from traffic jams. Next time you start to feel frustrated with your weight loss progress, keep these "lessons of the road" in mind:

Pay less attention to how much further you have to travel. Stop asking yourself "are we there yet?" You’ll get there when you get there. Instead, look at the scenery, think about life, carry on a conversation, sing along with the radio, or simply be thankful for how far you’ve come.

The journey is always more fun with a passenger. Have you asked anyone along for the ride?

You know the route you need to take to reach your weight loss goals. It’s already mapped out. As long as you stay pointed in the right direction, you’ll get there. Even in the worst traffic jams, you still get to your destination at some point. It’s the same way with dieting – just a matter of time. It may take longer than you first expected, but you will get there.

There will always be periods of stopping and starting. It’s something that you should just anticipate and allow for. No use getting upset or stressed about not making progress. It’s a normal part of the journey.

Sometimes, you’ve just gotta go with the flow of what’s going on around you. Life can present some situations that you really can’t do anything about. When that happens, staying straight and steady – doing the best that you can – will keep you on track and sane. In traffic, impatient people stop, change lanes, weave in and out of other cars, driving themselves and everyone else crazy – and in the end, usually don’t get any farther along than you do by staying put and going with the flow.

Shortcuts never work.
Driving too fast is dangerous. That’s why they call it "crash" dieting. Slow down, take what life gives you, and make sure you arrive at your destination in good health.

I finally did get to my destination after all. Hands were pried away from the steering wheel, teeth were unclenched, and a few aspirin were popped. Of course, people in the cars around me probably had a good laugh at my arm-waving and soundless yelling. Funny how we can lose our senses when faced with something that frustrates us, whether it’s traffic or our diets.

Thanks to these insights, my story had a happy ending. Hopefully, remembering these rules will help you reach your destination sooner – and more content – than you expected.

Here is the link to the article http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_articles.asp?id=346 Within this link are some good ideas about relaxing, too.

So my QOTD is this:
1/8/11 Saturday QOTD: How would you rate your "diet rage"?
Low- I'm moving slowly, but I'm on my way!
Moderate- Everyone's moving except me
High- I'm screaming but no one can hear me!
All Over The Board- It's stop and go all the way

Have a great evening all!

.

Ds1 came home today from work and had visited the hospital. He bruised his ribs when he slipped putting something into a dumpster. He took some aleve and went out to dinner with his gf but is staying home for the next week.

QOTD I have been surprised at times at the amount of calories in something.

Have a healthy evening everyone.

I'm sorry to hear about your son. I hope he gets to feeling better soon!

Snowed in today, first snow day of many I am sure. I lost 8 pounds this week! Just started on the new Weight watchers program and I am actually having trouble eating all the points. And I have a small victory to report......I actually made 20 minutes on the treadmill today! I am really loving being able to post here.

Congratulations on the treadmill! It must be nice having something in your house for when the weather gets bad. I'm curious, where do you live that go snow today?

Hello Team Donald!:donald:

We made it back to our temporary home in Germany today. I am so thrilled that we have less than 18 more months to go in this assignment. We are going to enjoy it and make the most out of living in Europe but it will nice to return to life in the US one day...

:

That sounds like a lot of fun! Are you a military family? My cousins lived in Germany for awhile when their father was in the army and really enjoyed it there.

EB I love your cake!!!! I can picture DS14 doing this since he loves loves loves books.

Thanks! We had a lot of fun with the theme.

ARGH! My dinner plans have been shot to you know where. DH isn't feeling well so he can't make dinner and I don't know how to cook with the meat I took out. I have nothing else thawed and not much in the refrigerator. The kids opted for meatballs that I have in the freezer but they make me gag-- and are much higher in fat than I want to consume anyway.

So now not sure what I am going to have. And getting to the point of too hungry to care. May need to start with a yogurt.=!

Men can be such babies when they are sick ;) . I hope he gets to feeling better soon. Have you thought about keeping some Smart Ones or Lean Cuisines in the freezer as an emergency back up?

Thanks for sharing the pictures! Did you have a small wrap or something on in the dancing pictures that you later removed? It looks like you have sleeves on. You look so pretty... the dress was beautiful and sparkly!

The bridesmaid dressed were really pretty!
Well.... I made it on twice in one day! DD and her swim friends are having dessert (well... there was extra so I am having a little too ;) ). I made it through the day without losing my mind. The house was reasonably clean and the dinner was cooking when the kids arrived, so all went well (I hate being a hostess.... I find it so stressful!!). Busy day with b.ball and swim meet tomorrow and swim meet Sunday. I'll try to hop on at least once a day to keep up, but no promises!.................P

Thank you! I had a little jacket that I found that matched the dress well. Which was nice since my church requires sleeves but it's almost impossible to find a sleeved dress. It sounds like you have had quite the busy day. Good luck to your kids swimming.

First off, Tigger, sorry, I'll resend you my weight with MY team name this time.

Good job! Soda is one of the hardest things to give up. It is truly addictive. Have you tried tea? I cant' stand coffee, but I love good quality tea. You'll get the caffeine to wake you up and help with your headache, and it's pretty healthy.

I'm glad you enjoyed the fifth graders. Upper el is one of my favorites to teach/sub for! I bet the Daisies wore you out. I thought in frist grades was when they started Brownies? At least, that's how we did it when I was in GS. Maybe it's changed.

Great article!!

I'd say right now I'm a High. But I'm not yelling at other people I've yelling at me. Like why can't I grasp the concept, ya know. I'm trying to constantly remind myself that I didn't get here overnight so I'm not going back overnight either. It's just tough some days.
Right now I'm stuck in bumper to bumper I-95 traffic but some day I'll hit the open road Thelma and Louise style!

2.5 lbs down!
Lovetoscrap - Not sure if you have a Trader Joe's around, but if you do, their frozen turkey meatballs are pretty good and not too bad for you.

Way to go on the 2.5 pounds!

I will have to check those out. My kids love the ones from the store but the smell just makes me ill. I really need to make some homemade ones to keep in the freezer. It does make a better quick and easy meal for them than some of the other crap we could have in the freezer.

I'm waiting for DH to get home from DC. He's in CT but 95 is really slick, he saw 2 Tractor trailers slide out already. I told him if he had to stop for the night even though he's so close to home.
Pixie Dust for him to get home safe tonight or tomorrow.

Men can be such babies when they are sick ;) . I hope he gets to feeling better soon. Have you thought about keeping some Smart Ones or Lean Cuisines in the freezer as an emergency back up?

I hadn't thought about it until tonight!!!:lmao: I am trying to cut out as much of the processed foods, but I was left kind of :confused3 tonight. I did find some hamburger meat and made some Taco Soup.

DH is feeling better, I actually think he has what is called the "South Beach Flu"-- usually around the end of week one the lack of carbs makes you feel really icky-- that is why I don't do a strict no carb Phase I. I have gotten really sick in the past. I gave him some noodles from the kids dinner and then some crackers with PB and he seems to be feeling back to normal. Pretty typical reaction. He hasn't gone no carb but apparently I need to increase his carb intake even though his has been more than mine.

Down 3lb-most I will probably lose any week-not being doom and gloom just realistic. Am now within 11lb of my goal :banana:

GO TEAM DONALD!!!

Congrats on your loss this week! At this rate, you'll reach your goal in no time! :thumbsup2

Good morning Donalds!:donald: Just did my official WI for the week. My total gain over the holidays was 3.5 pounds:headache: I must say it was totally worth it though and it was a fantastic 3 week splurge. Now the fight to get it back off beginspirate:

That sounds like a lot of fun! Are you a military family? My cousins lived in Germany for awhile when their father was in the army and really enjoyed it there.

No, we are not military. I have met many American military families over here though. I am jealous of their support and perks, but they deserve every bit of it:) My husband is the only American working at his company!
Thanks for posting your wedding photos, they were great! I also scrolled back and forth trying to figure out if you had changed dresses or had on a small jacket! I love how you are so tiny and your husband looks so large - very cute!

Have a great evening all!

I would rate mine as "low"....I've switched over to the idea of having a healthy lifestyle instead of being on a diet. I know if I quit my healthy lifestyle I will gain back the weight I've lost so I don't ever want to quit even if I have to go very very slow! I will reach my goals some day:cheer2:

Waiting for DH to get up so I can use the elliptical which is in the bedroom. Have not been on it since Dec 17 so it may be tough. Want to try out the BL for Kinnect today too. DS has had so much fun playing his new Kinnect. We just hooked it up last night. After every game, it shows you a video highlight of your performance - hilarious!

Hope you all have a great day:cool2:

Shawnprincess:

Got up this morning and did my weigh in. Got a maintain which is disappointing, but I know next week will be better. :goodvibes.

Thanks Tracey & CC for tracking the weights and HH's. :thumbsup2

Good morning, and good luck to everyone who as you weighin today. Hope you all see good numbers on the scale that motivate you to continue on this healthy track. :cheer2:

If you do not see the number you are hoping for, hang in there. Our bodies are amazing things and can do funky stuff with electrolytes and fluid, and our success and accomplishments do not always show on the scale. Don't give up. The small changes we all make will add up, and patience and persistance will help us all reach our goals!

I am down 2 pounds today. For me on my journey, that is a fabulous weight loss, and my goal is to continue what i'm doing, and slowly and steadily, I know I can continue to lose.

Have a wonderful friday!!:)

Wonderful post!:thumbsup2

Happy Friday Team Donald! Hope you have good weighins today, I think.;) Lisa and Kathy are kicking it this week!!!! Way to go ladies!:cheer2::dance3:

Hi Taryn! I love how chatty you are :goodvibes

Hi! I'm going to be on your team for this challenge. I did some of the previous challenges, but found the huge thread to be too overwhelming so ended up not participating. I am an elementary school teacher and was just married in December. I have struggled with my weight for a few years now, but have managed to lose 10 lbs since last year. I'm hoping this will motivate me to keep losing.

welcome back! Your look beautiful at your wedding :bride:

1/7/11 QOTD: Are you surprised by how much (or little) you can eat for the calories, depending on which foods you choose?

::yes:: definitely have been surprised. Used to enjoy quizno's thinking a sub was better than McDonalds. The I did WW and looked up the points. My favourite sub was 40points. McDonalds was way less.

What I did this week to help me was bring my treadmill into the living room where I can watch tv as I walk and also I joined Weight watchers again this week (for the umpteenth time). My goal this week is to track what I eat and add minutes to my treadmill time. So far, so good. Baby steps, right?

excellent plan :goodvibes

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. If the scale was good to you, remember what you did to make that happen and try to do the same this week. If the scale was not a pleasant experience this morning, don't get too discouraged, look into how you were successful and how you were not and try to improve this week!

very well said! :goodvibes

1/8/11 Saturday QOTD: How would you rate your "diet rage"?

High- I'm screaming but no one can hear me!

Have a great evening all!

Moderate for me. I keep getting stuck in the mud. Need to get more motivation. Definitely feeling more motivated this week as I've been making an effort to read more posts.

Thanks Lisa for coaching this week :goodvibes

I'd say "moderate". I'm not screaming, but it's definitely slow and disappointing. I suppose if I keep seeing a decline, I'll manage. Must work up to exercising more...

Good morning TEAM DONALD!

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful week-end!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm amazed at the some of hte losses that are being posted on this thread.

Your wedding pictures were lovely. I thought your Mom's dress was very pretty, too.

41/76 weigh ins received so far!!! Keep 'em comin'!!!!

:woohoo:

Ds1 came home today from work and had visited the hospital. He bruised his ribs when he slipped putting something into a dumpster. He took some aleve and went out to dinner with his gf but is staying home for the next week.

Hope your DS is feeling better soon! Enjoy your quiet week-end! :flower3:

Wow! GREAT loss! :yay: You are on your way!

Hope everyone did well at WI today. Sounds like we have some nice losses!

Glad to hear that your returned safely to Germany, Shawn! :goodvibes YOu are very smart not to weigh in right after flying.

Conratulations to all of us here, there's been some fabulous weight losses posted, and so much exercise done this week too. Team Donald is rocking this challenge!!!

::yes:: Yes we are! :cool1:

I didn't log in yesterday so I completely forgot about weigh in this morning. I'll do it first thing tomorrow and send it in. I really didn't track my HH, hopefully next week.

Remember that you can do just part of HH to start slowly if that is better for you. :flower3:

I think I am more surprised by weighing and measuring items. Sometimes I feel I get a lot of say chicken - and really shocked by how little 1 T of peanut butter actually is when measured in grams. My latest obsession weighing to the gram. LOL

My DH is really into measuring, too. :thumbsup2

Well.... I made it on twice in one day! DD and her swim friends are having dessert (well... there was extra so I am having a little too ;) ). I made it through the day without losing my mind. Enjoy your busy week-end!

Incredible work. I think I better get reading that new WW book that my mother gave me. People are having great results from the new program it seems.

I think that you will enjoy it, Sue! :goodvibes

hi all -
2.5 lbs down!

Way to go everyone on team Donald!

:woohoo: Great loss!

I think this may be a bad week for scales. Yesterday, I got on the scale. We've got one that tells you how hydrated you are and some other stuff. It said one weight, then I couldn't read the other stuff it said, so I got back on immediately. I thought I'd stand on it to get the numbers back up, the squat down so I could read the darn thing. Well, somehow, in the space of 30 seconds of decision to step back on for those little TINY numbers....I gained a pound. And it's stuck. Scale said the same for me today as it did yesterday.

Bummer! Maybe it will fix itself today. :flower3:

popping in for just a sec. We are hosting a virtual crop on the crafts board. It's actually moving faster then a BL thread!!! LOL

That was a fast moving thread but you guys had some very cool stuff! :cool2:

BRB will the rest of my replies.

Good job staying on track, even when you are busy, and you made it through that first week without Coke! :cool1:

I have "My Fitness Pal". It has a food & exercise tracker and what's cool is it also has a UPC scanner so I just scan stuff and it adds it in.

Wow! Great loss! :yay: You are getting so close to goal! :cheer2:

Got up this morning and did my weigh in. Got a maintain which is disappointing, but I know next week will be better. :goodvibes.

, Shannon, anything that isn't a gain is a plus in my book! :thumbsup2 So nice to see you here again! :flower3:

I'd say "moderate". I'm not screaming, but it's definitely slow and disappointing. I suppose if I keep seeing a decline, I'll manage. Must work up to exercising more...

Slow is good and it takes awhile to get your activity increased. :goodvibes

Today is my 7 mile run for Princess training and menu planning. princess: This is my first half marathon so I am little apprehensive about how this whole training thing will work but I feel wonderful (and scared :scared:).

PLEASE PM YOUR WEIGHTS AND HH POINTS TO TRACEY813 AND CCLOVESDIS WITH TEAM NAME ASAP, IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY.

Have a great Saturday everyone! :goodvibes

Good morning everyone. I can't believe it is almost 8. I had a rough night sleeping. I woke up at midnight and couldn't go back to sleep. I went down to the family room and read using only my book light hoping I would get tired but that didn't work. I finally turned on the tv and layed down and finally fell asleep. I didn't get to work out this morning like I have the last week. I have to do something about that today. Maybe the exercise bike.

we didn't get any snow yesterday but we are supposed to get some today. I want to take ds2 to the grocery store because they had some great sales on some things that he could use for school when he goes back next week. I also have to stop by a friend's house to drop something off. She wants to do some sewing but I think I want to work around here instead. I don't know what I want to do.

Thanks for the great thoughts about ds1. He slept in his own bed last night and is still asleep. We shall see when he gets up.

QOTD

I think righ now I am moderate. I only lost a pound this week but I have to look at as a loss.

Have a healthy and happy day.

Hey guys, just stopping in to beg.

We're in need of some serious PPD (prayers and pixie dust). As some of you know, DH's boss is....less than easy to get along with. After a rough week, he put DH on a nearly impossible "plan of improvement" last night with a huge list of tasks/accomplishments/guidlines to be met every hour, many of which depend on people other than him to do their job better. 2 misses within 90 days and he will be fired. Which means that he could lose his job Monday. This comes as a shock, with no previous disciplinary "write ups", etc, basically, the boss is out for him. I am terrified beyond words, shaking as I type. Jobs are VERY scearce here, and being terminated would make him ineligible for unemployment.

If I'm not around much, forgive me.
Taryn

Congratulations on the treadmill! It must be nice having something in your house for when the weather gets bad. I'm curious, where do you live that go snow today?

I live in the Pocono Mts. of PA. This is really the first storm we have had so far this winter. We usually end up having about 8 snow days per year. We only got about 4 inches this time but since the weatherman was saying it would snow all day, they called off school. I am a teacher, so I do that snow day dance right along with the kiddos. LOL

: This is my first half marathon so I am little apprehensive about how this whole training thing will work but I feel wonderful (and scared :scared:).
I feel the same way, but most days I know we are going to just rock that princess!!! Good luck with your 7 miles today!!!!

 So sorry to here this, Taryn. I will be sending prayers and pixiedust, and hope everything works out. I was so hoping that stress would decrease for you with the new year. Hang in there.

I'm jealous. I'm a nurse, so I wait for ds to do the snow day dance, and then I do the find a babysitter dance.:rotfl:

Great article, Lisa. My rage level is low, occas moderate. I'm a pretty low key person, and I've been on this journey for 6 years. Started at 229, got to 183, with some life stress went back to 215, and for the past year have been around 210-212, so I feel like I am definitely more in control, and know why I regained, but am at peace with it, and know I am in a better place now than I was a year ago to really focus and lose again. I have done it before, and I know what to do, but I try not to beat myself up if I backslide. I think I've been very lucky, and when the weight doesn't come off, or I see a gain, I know what I have done to deserve that. I think as you get closer to your goal, and have less to lose, you can do all the right things and still see a gain or maintain, and I know that must be so tough. I'm setting small goals and aimiing for them this time. 10 pounds by the princess half and 10 more for the rest of this challenge. I'm not a very rage-ey person, I like to keep the peace, even in my own head.:rotfl:

Right now I'm stuck in bumper to bumper I-95 traffic but some day I'll hit the open road Thelma and Louise style!
:rotfl2:Yes you will!!!!

Hi Kathy, I was late to work the other day and looked for you. Do you still walk when it's this cold out?
Yes, I do. I was out mon and tues this week. As long as it's not icy and wet, I'll be out. I was going to join the boston north gym with the 29.95 a month special but its a 2 year commitment, so forget it. My next long run/walk I'll do tues afternoon- 8-9 miles, so I'll do my 5 mile route and then my 3-4 mile route depending, so I'll go down your street 4 times.

Good morning everyone. I can't believe it is almost 8. I had a rough night sleeping. I woke up at midnight and couldn't go back to sleep.
I think righ now I am moderate. I only lost a pound this week but I have to look at as a loss.
Insomnia is the worst, I always toss and turn til I get frustrated before I get up and do something else. Congrats on the pound. :thumbsup2 Any loss is a good loss in my book.

Good morning everyone!!

I'm on call today til 7 and again tomorrow 7-7, so I'm hoping not to hear the phone ring. I plan to just hang out, ds has gymnastics, and then a bottle drive for cub scouts, so we need to go there. My sister will come pick up ds if i get called in during gymnastics. I have big plans to do a good overall house cleaning, and put all the Christmas stuff away. We still have our tree up, and it's so pretty, I hate to take it down, but I will for sure before the weekend is over. I'm going to do some wii-fit this morning. We've just gotten a few flurries overnight, and I don't think we'll be hit too hard.

Have great saturday everyone.
