TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR TEAM NAME IN THE TITLE OF YOUR MESSAGE. IN YOUR MESSAGE PLEASE POST YOUR WEIGHT...NOT HOW MUCH YOU LOST! I JUST SPENT THE LAST HOUR PUTTING IN ALL THE WEIGH INS AND I HAD TO DO SEVERAL SEARCHES TO FIND OUT WHAT TEAM PEOPLE WERE ON

I hope I don't sound like GRUMPY!

Thanks!

1/7/11 QOTD: Are you surprised by how much (or little) you can eat for the calories, depending on which foods you choose?

I am surprised. I seem to be finally starting to feel satisfied after a serving. My struggle this week is going to be stress eating. My tasks at work are weighing heavily right now and I that makes me want to eat comfort foods.:sad2:. For the week though good news is I lost 4.5 pounds.

Way to go TEAM DONALD! I'm seeing some good weigh in results posted here. And if it wasn't your week this week -- no worries! :flower3: There is always another opportunity to keep moving forward.

OK guys, I have to post this quickly and get kids to school. I'm really bummed - the original scale I used broke (long story about kids trying to weigh one of the 70 lb dogs). Anyway, bought a new scale yesterday, but it is weighing differently (more). I know I have lost weight this week because I have been exercising at the gym and using the scale there. I'm down 4 lbs according to that scale. But I have to go with this new one at home and feel like I'm back at square one. Sorry to have to post the gain for the team. :sad1:

If you know what the difference is in the two scales you could ask Tracey to adjust your starting weight accordingly. That has been done in the past for someone else who switched scales. And if not, you will have a good loss for next week. :goodvibes

THEY DON'T GET IT!!! I will never be DONE! The day I decide I am DONE is the day the weight will start coming back on. This is a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE and I don't plan to be DONE, EVER!

Amen to that! :littleangel:

I wish that I would have followed your advice about points before I had the point busting 14 point muffin for breakfast. :sad2: Live and learn and have the rest of my points for the tracker already in the tracker.

have an awesome day everyone!
Heading to MK & Epcot tomorrow for a late Bday celebration :) I will stay away from anything that is BAD to eat. also want to check out the new tea & spice shop at DTD.

Have a great time! :cool2:

Thanks, everyone, for your encouragement yesterday! I weighed in this morning, and was down 1 pound for the week.... not the best week, weight wise, but in every other change, I'm very happy!

Anything that isn't a gain is a winner in my book! :thumbsup2

I was kinda shocked at hidden calories on condiments, salad dressing etc.. As far as amount yeah I can eat more than I thought when I choose healthier. :thumbsup2

I am thrilled by my loss this week :banana::cool1:

I need to get a tracker I think.

Sparkpeople.com has one that is free. :goodvibes

I was feeling better this morning so after breakfast, half an english muffin with peanut butter and a banana with apple juice, I did the Dancing with the Stars Cardio Dance dvd. It was so much fun. I did the Jive section and it was a good workout. I am looking forward to trying some of the others.

Sounds like a yummy breakfast. :)

I haven't really tracked calories this week so I can't really say.

So, I didn't really delve right in this week because it's been a bit funky. But I've been more careful inn my choices, trying to knock off the night time snacking and drink more water. I was quite surprised when I weight in and I lost 3.1 pounds!! I was shocked, buy yay! :yay::yay::yay: Wouldn't it be nice to lose 3 pounds every week. :rotfl::rotfl:

Imagine what you can do when you get going? :cool1:

I can not seem to stay asleep all night. I get to sleep fine, then wake up hot and sweaty (stupid hormones). Then, I can't turn my brain off and all the stresses of my life crowd around my head. I wish the brain had an off switch!!

Bummer! I think it was Rose&Mike who was talking about 8 minute meditations. As you activity increases that may help, too.

:cool1: So happy! I met my loss goal for this week! 3 pounds gone. :woohoo: I want to see about getting a ticker for my signature. Gonna have to figure out how to fit it in.

Great loss! :yay:

Was it you who was asking about a group on sparkpeople? There is a Disboards group but you wouldn't know that we are a bunch of Dis'ers because it is a very quiet group! ;)

:flower3:
I had a pretty good week and am posting a 2.8 lb loss...I would love to just round up to 3, but since I have a digital scale and it reads out to the tenth of a pound, I am going to use it ;) I'm hoping for similar numbers next week (maybe a nice, round, actual 3) the only thing that is kind of getting me down is that I weighed myself last Sunday (after starting on Saturday) and was showing a 4 lb loss. I know that it was just water weight and I had just gotten back from playing broomball, so I'm sure I was dehydrated, but I was kind of hoping to pst 4 as the actual number this week. Oh well...any loss is a good one, right?

::yes::

I was down 2 lbs this morning.:woohoo:  What a surprise. I just completed Walk Away the Pounds 3 mile dvd. :woohoo:I used weights and was still a tad sore from yesterdays 30 Day Shred but it wasn't bad.

:woohoo: Great loss! And as time goes on you will be substituting more of the good stuff because after awhile the bad stuff just isn't as appealing as it used to be. :flower3:

So I put a weight ticker in my signature but I don't like how it only calculates to whole pounds and not tenths. Is that something in the setup I can change or is that just how it is?

It probably depends on the ticker. I like the Donald ticker though! :donald:

Weighed in this morning. Down 1.8 on my scale, but at WW I was up 1.6.
Which means my scale is now about 3 lbs off from theirs whereas before it was nearly the same. Weird. But seems it depends which scale there I step on.

Could it be a time of day thing? :confused3

Oh phooey. So I'm making a spreadsheet so I can track my daily healthy habits, food tracker and then an area to put my monthly measurements. But I can't find the piece of paper I put my measurements on. I have the total but can't find the individual ones. :headache:

Duh- nevermind. I remember I put it on my phone.

Is there a sparkspeople group for us?

There is a Disboards team but it is not very active. It's very quiet which is so not like us!

Hey Donald peeps! Chillin' at school waiting for my next class. I lost a little weight this week, I went from 196, to 194.2, so I can't complain. It's better than I thought I'd do. I'm not counting on having weight loss next week because I lost this week, so I have to keep it all in perspective. Still dealing with my health challenges so I haven't been able to workout like I want to. I just had to drop curling now too because it's just too much for my body to handle. I'm already worn down from this week (OK, the mid-week trip to Seattle probably didn't help...) but I can't be out until 11 pm on a Sunday night curling, then get up at 6:30 the next morning for class.

Glad your semester is off to a good start! :goodvibes

Hey Donalds, I'm a little frustrated at my weigh in, lost only I pound (I know, I know, on the bright side, I LOST and didn't GAIN, but still...) and I really was a good little teammate this week.

I always love a loss but totally understand how it is a tad frustrating when you were hoping for more. Did you do your measurements? If so, you might want to check them.

Yes it's an iPhone app called WW mobile. But it looks like I need to join WW to open all the features. I have to see the cost and talk to DH about that.

I did a 3 month online membership for $65 I think.

1/7/11 QOTD: Are you surprised by how much (or little) you can eat for the calories, depending on which foods you choose? - I think at first glance it's surprising, but when you actually look at the dishes and think about what the ingredients are it makes sense...

Weight held steady this week, but I've only really been at it since Monday and at least it wasn't a gain. HH were a little better.

Looking ahead to our new HH challenge - I've never literally tracked my food before. (I know...sinful to make such an admission, right?!)

Does anyone have a great android app that they use for tracking and would like to recommend? I've seen some of you mention "Lose It", but can't find it in the android market, so I assume it's for the iphone. - TIA

I'm pretty sure sparkpeople has an android app, too. :cool2:

Thanks!

Please help our weightkeeper out by including your team name in your PM. :flower3: We like to keep our weightkeepers happy! Thank you, Tracey! :worship:

It's amazing how that connection between your stomach and brain starts working right so quickly and great loss! :yay:

Hi Team Donald! I just posted this on Team Mickey and didn't want you all to feel left out.:thumbsup2

I haven't had a chance to read replies--I'll get to that later, just wanted to remind everyone again----

PLEASE when you send Tracey and CC pm's include your team name. This is SO important. We don't want to burn out our team of folks that are working so hard to run the challenge. Also Tracey needs your CURRENT WEIGHT, not how much you lost. The spreadsheet calculates all of that.
So to recap:

Tigger813--current weight and team name

CClovesdis--healthy habits and team name

TIA!!!!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm amazed at the some of hte losses that are being posted on this thread. We did go walking with the dogs two nights ago and went to a dance lesson last night. Unfortunately I've managed to sprain my foot somehow so I don't know if I'll be working out this weekend or not. I also haven't been the best about eating. How do you beat the TOM munchies?

As requested, here are some wedding pictures. WE don't have the professional ones yet, but there are some that my family and friends took.

The first dance. We used the song Promise from IllumiNations.

welcome Eeyores Butterfly. Thanks for the beautiful pictures of your wedding.

Congrats to all the losers this week. Congrats to all those who stayed the same. If you are starting to get on to better habits that is a good thing.

Ds1 came home today from work and had visited the hospital. He bruised his ribs when he slipped putting something into a dumpster. He took some aleve and went out to dinner with his gf but is staying home for the next week.

QOTD I have been surprised at times at the amount of calories in something.

Nothing planned for this weekend. Should be pretty quiet. Hope to get some sewing and knitting done. I need a couple of bibs for a baby shower on Tuesday. Have two washcloths done and started on the first bib.

Have a healthy evening everyone.

Snowed in today, first snow day of many I am sure. I lost 8 pounds this week! Just started on the new Weight watchers program and I am actually having trouble eating all the points. And I have a small victory to report......I actually made 20 minutes on the treadmill today! I am really loving being able to post here.

Hello Team Donald!:donald:

We made it back to our temporary home in Germany today. I am so thrilled that we have less than 18 more months to go in this assignment. We are going to enjoy it and make the most out of living in Europe but it will nice to return to life in the US one day.

Hope everyone did well at WI today. Sounds like we have some nice losses!
I have not weighed in yet. I was up on Thursday so I didn't want to submit that, was not about to weigh in today after travelling for 20 hours, so I guess I need to bite the bullet and send in tomorrow morning's weight. I hope I'm not up. I got 16/18 HH points this week but I did continue to splurge a little on eating since it was the last week of our vacation. I need to get serious tomorrow, get the Holiday weight off and start to make some forward progress.

Yesterday started out I assumed I would not be able to do the HH since we were travelling. But, I started with drinking 1 liter of water very early in the morning so I could have time to go the bathroom way before flying. Then, turned on my cell phone timer and got in 10 minutes of walking around the terminal waiting on first plane. Got to Atlanta and walked from Terminal A to Terminal E. This took 20 minutes so I got in my exercise portion of HH! I actually had no idea you could walk from Terminal to Terminal in Atlanta! We have always just taken the tram. But, I remember Rose saying she and Mike had to run from one terminal to another to make a connection so I asked my DH and he said of course you can walk between terminals and he walked with me. DS took the tram! I had a large salad in ATL for lunch so got in Veggies HH! I drank another liter of water at lunch so I now had in my Water HH! We had a long layover in ATL so I had plenty of time to go the bathroom several times. I chose water for every beverage selection but they have a couple where beer is free so of course I have to get the free beer;) It's surprising how many healthy choices you can make if you are really trying:)

There has been a lot of great information shared on here and some great websites. My favorite is the one for volksmarching in the US! (this is the German word for a group walk, usu 5K or 10K) I had no idea! There is an active club in my hometown so I will be checking that out when we move back. I have also picked up some great tips for preparing veggies that I will be putting to use. And, on the last challenge I learned from Lindsay that she uses her cell phone stopwatch when she runs. I then started using my cell phone stopwatch and timer for all kinds of things. I love to give myself a reward after x minutes of doing something like exercise or chores. I also like to time myself doing different things to see if I can break my record the next time. It helps too when I'm hungry but don't need to be eating anything at that moment to see how long I can go w/o eating or to promise myself something after x minutes. Just mind games that keep things interesting and keep me on track.

We got everything unpacked and put away today and I did all our laundry before we left the US so I feel like I am a little ahead right now:cool1: I just need to get some food tomorrow and take down the Christmas stuff. I want it done by Monday. I had a really interesting thought today, it seems like every time we take that long flight it physically gets easier and easier. My first thought was that I am just getting used to it but then I realized that by being in better shape it's not as hard on my body.:banana: I am finding that everything is getting easier and I have a lot more energy as I lose weight and exercise more. Over the holidays, I was often the one to jump up and get things for others, to run out to the car for forgotten items or to walk all over the mall rather than moving the car:banana:
It does get better over time even if it seems slow!

Well, it's almost 1 am here so I should try to get some sleep and try to get adjusted back to the time zone here. Have a great weekend Team Donald!

Shawnprincess:

ARGH! My dinner plans have been shot to you know where. DH isn't feeling well so he can't make dinner and I don't know how to cook with the meat I took out. I have nothing else thawed and not much in the refrigerator. The kids opted for meatballs that I have in the freezer but they make me gag-- and are much higher in fat than I want to consume anyway.

So now not sure what I am going to have. And getting to the point of too hungry to care. May need to start with a yogurt.

How do you beat the TOM munchies?

As requested, here are some wedding pictures. WE don't have the professional ones yet, but there are some that my family and friends took.

Best way to work with any type of munchies is to try to keep healthy things on hand to snack on. And maybe just a small treat. And stay busy.

Your photos are gorgeous! Love your dress. :)

Ds1 came home today from work and had visited the hospital. He bruised his ribs when he slipped putting something into a dumpster. He took some aleve and went out to dinner with his gf but is staying home for the next week.

Ouch! Hope he heals quick.

Snowed in today, first snow day of many I am sure. I lost 8 pounds this week! Just started on the new Weight watchers program and I am actually having trouble eating all the points. And I have a small victory to report......I actually made 20 minutes on the treadmill today! I am really loving being able to post here.

:woohoo: Great job!

Hi! I'm going to be on your team for this challenge. I did some of the previous challenges, but found the huge thread to be too overwhelming so ended up not participating. I am an elementary school teacher and was just married in December. I have struggled with my weight for a few years now, but have managed to lose 10 lbs since last year. I'm hoping this will motivate me to keep losing.
Congratulations on your wedding, Jessi!! Love the pictures, you look just beautiful and so happy.

1/7/11 QOTD: Are you surprised by how much (or little) you can eat for the calories, depending on which foods you choose?
After doing ww so many times, I feel like I have a pretty good knowledge of the calorie/points values of foods we eat often, but I am still amazed when i'll go to a restaurant and look up nutritional value of some foods, and it can be so high, even the salads.

Kathy - You have to check this out (or anyone from Mass interested in a flashback). I guess the North Shore Shopping Center was the Bay States 2nd mall. If you read through it says there was a Stop & Shop, though I'm guessing they weren't as popular back then. Some of the pictures bring back memories. I wasn't around for the kiddie town they mention, but I did go to the movie theater that's now Barnes and Noble. I saw Dirty Dancing there with my sister. Ah the memories.

http://mall-hall-of-fame.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
That was great. Thanks sue. I remember going to that movie theater when we were probably in junior high, and just old enough to be dropped off alone. I worked at wendy's in high school and we spent many hours at the malls after work. Lots of memories. Hope your work isn't too crazy.
I I have lost 4 of the 5 pounds I gained over the Christmas/New Year's week, so I am THRILLED. That is a HUMONGOUS loss for me at this stage of the game... and it actually is only since Monday, since I was away over Fri-Sun and didn't have my scale. THat said, my exercise has been really lacking, so I need to kick it up a notch in that department.
P
Congrats on your loss, pamela. So happy for you, and thrilled your post didn't get poofed today. Have a fun, busy weekend. Hope the snow isn't too bad.

I was suprised that I recorded a loss this morning since I haven't been following WW, just tracking my points. I didn't do well on the HH challenge either. I am concerned that they are calling for snow this weekend and the first of next week, since I have a tendency to do nothing but eat when I am snowed in (and snowed in here means we have 2 inches on the ground).
I have always found, that even if i go way above the ww points for the week, tracking everything really makes a huge difference. Once I stop tracking, I go totally out of control. If I have to write it down, even if I'm way overeating, it's not going to be as bad as if I give up on it. Glad to hear you had a loss this week, and I hope the snow isn't too bad. You've gotten a lot this year already haven't you.
I was down 2 lbs this morning.:woohoo:  What a surprise. I just completed Walk Away the Pounds 3 mile dvd. :woohoo:I used weights and was still a tad sore from yesterdays 30 Day Shred but it wasn't bad.
Kathy Congrats I see you joined my club on losing 2 lbs. :woohoo: It is a great number. I never expect to see BL weight drops. But 2 lbs is awesome.
Thanks and congrats on your 2 pounds too. I am always happy with any loss, but especially if it's over a pound. You're really doing awesome with the exercise this week. Very inspiring.

Our sewage pump....that failed 10/11 and was replaced, then failed again on 10/30....was NOT running and was within 2" of overflowing. He took the dogs out & heard a rumble from downstairs. Got up, started labeling all faucets, toilets, etc. 'don't use' and noticed DD was in the hall bathroom upstairs & flushed :scared1:. Ended up not flooding. He finally called plumber at 5:30, then went back down to check pump & it started working when he tried it manually. So, no plumber bill, but still scared of the stupid thing!
OMG, I cringed when I started to read this. I can't believe it almost happened again. So glad it turned out ok. I would be scared of it too.

Snowed in today, first snow day of many I am sure. I lost 8 pounds this week! Just started on the new Weight watchers program and I am actually having trouble eating all the points. And I have a small victory to report......I actually made 20 minutes on the treadmill today! I am really loving being able to post here.
Whoo hoo!! Congrats on your loss and 20 minutes on the treadmill!! You must feel so great.

We made it back to our temporary home in Germany today
So glad you made it back safe, and so proud of you for making the best of your travelling day, getting your exercise in, and eating healthy. I know it's emotional for you to leave, and that would have been a good excuse to indulge in comfort food at the airports, and forget about the good healthy changes you've made, but you did amazing, and had such a healthy, active day travelling. Hope you get a good nights sleep.

Conratulations to all of us here, there's been some fabulous weight losses posted, and so much exercise done this week too. Team Donald is rocking this challenge!!!

Have you tried Melatonin? It is in the vitamin area of the store. It helps you to relax and fall asleep but isn't a "sleeping pill" so you don't wake up groggy and icky. And you don't fall so far asleep you can't wake up. I find it just helps me shut my mind down and drift off. The only side affect I have is some really bizarro dreams but nothing bad. I actually kind of enjoy them!

Last night is the first time in a VERY long time (like several years) I haven't woken up hot and sweaty in the middle of the night-- our heater broke! So it was lovely and comfy for me and the rest of the family is freezing:rotfl:

Thanks for this suggestion. I have trouble falling asleep, once there I'm normally out for the night, but getting there can take a couple of hours. I'm willing to try some alternatives to Tylenol PM (makes me too groggy the next morning).

QOTD: I was just surprised at a food value just today. 22 calories for a single Hershey kiss? Honestly? Glad I only did one, but now thinking back to last month when I was putting away a lot more tells me how I gained a lot of that holiday weight.

I finally went back into SparkPeople and logged everything that I've eaten today. I should have checked out the kiss cost before I ate it, but at least its logged now. Still have a couple hundred calories left for dinner but will be making choices to stay within range.

I didn't log in yesterday so I completely forgot about weigh in this morning. I'll do it first thing tomorrow and send it in. I really didn't track my HH, hopefully next week.

Happy Friday to everyone!!

Good morning TEAM DONALD!

1/7/11 QOTD: Are you surprised by how much (or little) you can eat for the calories, depending on which foods you choose?

BRB with some replies.

I think I am more surprised by weighing and measuring items. Sometimes I feel I get a lot of say chicken - and really shocked by how little 1 T of peanut butter actually is when measured in grams. My latest obsession weighing to the gram. LOL

Hey Donalds, I'm a little frustrated at my weigh in, lost only I pound (I know, I know, on the bright side, I LOST and didn't GAIN, but still...) and I really was a good little teammate this week.

15/18 on the HH, finished Week 1 of C25K, tracked everything I ate on Sparkppl, staying in bounds on the calorie/fat, etc. limits they set for me.

I'll be ok...it just makes me all :confused3 Last year, I think I lost 3 lbs the first week!

Maybe next week I need to up the exercise to each day, gotta figure out how to work that in with all the demands on this Modern Woman's time, lol.

A clone to go to the gym for me (and maybe to cook meals while I'm driving kids around) would be very handy!:thumbsup2 I'll figure it
out...going to Outback tonight and I went to their website last night and checked nutritional info and *planned* what I'm having, woo hoo, that's a good start!!

Not just a good start, but a GREAT start!

You are doing so well... you lost weight and made positive changes. Don't be discouraged that it is "just" a pound!

Not at all Grumpy! Thanks for the reminder for all of us!

The bridesmaid dressed were really pretty!

WOW... 8 pounds is AMAZING!! You lost more than a guy on the BL did this week! And you have DOUBLED your time on the TM.... that is super! You are on a roll.

Glad you made it home safely. It sounds like you are really "getting used" to have a leaner, more active body!!

Well.... I made it on twice in one day! DD and her swim friends are having dessert (well... there was extra so I am having a little too ;) ). I made it through the day without losing my mind. The house was reasonably clean and the dinner was cooking when the kids arrived, so all went well (I hate being a hostess.... I find it so stressful!!). Busy day with b.ball and swim meet tomorrow and swim meet Sunday. I'll try to hop on at least once a day to keep up, but no promises!.................P

Weigh-in was very good to me this week. Like ridiculous - I lost 8 and my husband lost 10 (Go HappyMatt :cheer2:). There's a long road ahead - but we are very motivated. Can't wait to see how next week goes, we will be sticking to our eating plan. (no excuses, right?)

Amazing, great job :cool1:

:cool1: So happy! I met my loss goal for this week! 3 pounds gone. :woohoo:

Sweet, good job :thumbsup2

I was down 2 lbs this morning.:woohoo:  shockers when you read and measure out servings.

Nice job, keep up the good work :goodvibes

Hey Donalds, I'm a little frustrated at my weigh in, lost only I pound (I know, I know, on the bright side, I LOST and didn't GAIN, but still...)

Be proud of your 1 pound :goodvibes

Looks like you had a great time, congratulations newly weds :lovestruc

Ds1 came home today from work and had visited the hospital. He bruised his ribs when he slipped putting something into a dumpster. He took some aleve and went out to dinner with his gf but is staying home for the next week.

Hope your DS is feeling better

Snowed in today, first snow day of many I am sure. I lost 8 pounds this week!

Incredible work. I think I better get reading that new WW book that my mother gave me. People are having great results from the new program it seems.

We made it back to our temporary home in Germany today. I am so thrilled that we have less than 18 more months to go in this assignment. We are going to enjoy it and make the most out of living in Europe but it will nice to return to life in the US one day.

Glad you made it home safely :goodvibes

That was great. Thanks sue. I remember going to that movie theater when we were probably in junior high, and just old enough to be dropped off alone. I worked at wendy's in high school and we spent many hours at the malls after work. Lots of memories. Hope your work isn't too crazy.

Hi Kathy, I was late to work the other day and looked for you. Do you still walk when it's this cold out?

Work's not too bed, it doesn't get really bad for another 2 weeks, so I'm trying to enjoy it while I can. Dylan and I kept our pjs on all day today until I went out and got sushi for DH and I for dinner. It was nice and relaxing.

hi all -
2.5 lbs down!

Way to go everyone on team Donald!

Lovetoscrap - Not sure if you have a Trader Joe's around, but if you do, their frozen turkey meatballs are pretty good and not too bad for you.

1/7/11 QOTD: Are you surprised by how much (or little) you can eat for the calories, depending on which foods you choose?

Sometimes, quite a bit. For the most part, I have a pretty good idea of how many calories the foods I like the most are.

:sad1:

I think this may be a bad week for scales. Yesterday, I got on the scale. We've got one that tells you how hydrated you are and some other stuff. It said one weight, then I couldn't read the other stuff it said, so I got back on immediately. I thought I'd stand on it to get the numbers back up, the squat down so I could read the darn thing. Well, somehow, in the space of 30 seconds of decision to step back on for those little TINY numbers....I gained a pound. And it's stuck. Scale said the same for me today as it did yesterday.

popping in for just a sec. We are hosting a virtual crop on the crafts board. It's actually moving faster then a BL thread!!! LOL

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
I'm waiting for DH to get home from DC. He's in CT but 95 is really slick, he saw 2 Tractor trailers slide out already. I told him if he had to stop for the night even though he's so close to home.
