Team 6 - Team Ohana - Check in and introduce!

Jeanne - Lucky for you, your co-captain does know computers!!! I saw the hours weren't adding up so I went in and fixed the calculations. It should be right, let me know if you see anything else wrong.

Soooooo Team... I am sick. I am in bed with a major headache and achy feeling. My goal was to hit the TM for at least an hour either today or tomorrow. So even if I have to walk, it's gonna happen!! I am soooo SICK of our weather. We are in a deep freeze again with warnings. I can't run or walk outside and it's causing a little bit of winter depression this year. UGHHH!!!!!!

Jen: You take care of yourself. You're sick and I fear that it will knock you out if you don't get enough rest. Snuggle into bed with some tea or soup, watch a good movie, get some rest. You deserve it! IF walking makes you feel better, go for it, but trying to squeeze in workouts when I was sick was what did me in--so I'm worrying on your behalf. :flower3:

Mel: Re, Judgment call. TOO darned funny! :lmao: I'd pay good (virtual) money to see people's (virtual) reactions afterwards!

Vanessa: Good for you for joining the Bally's & for knowing what kind of commitment that is. I like to think of my gym as a long-term investment in my health--physical, mental, and emotional. I love the midmorning crowd at my gym for the same reason you love the lunchtime one. Less pressure, more machines. And yes, a 13K is totally do-able-- you're 1/4 of the way there! I'm still trying to talk DH into things, but it usually takes a while. He only settled down to really look at Cleveland today.

Jim: I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good gymnastics meet and a recovered foot. Be sure to tell us about both upon your return.

Richard: What's CEU? I saw go ahead and sign up for all those events; WWDave has announced that any mileage for race events counts double for the challenge! Seriously, that sounds like a lot of training. I'd be wiped out before April. You're a machine, a cyborg maybe. And I mean that in the best possible sense! :thumbsup2

Shell: Another cyborg! Wow, that's quite the schedule. You sound like a natural athlete, something I envy. I do hope your knee heals well so that you can get back to DDR. (Maybe I should get a Wii, as it sounds like fun.)

Jeanne: The opportunity or excuse to do XT is one of the best things about this challenge, isn't it? And I'm impressed that you can stay away from your computer on weekends...I'm working on it.

Maria: I know what you mean about the reality check with the eating. My body has been having a hard time realizing I'm not in training for the Goofy and that I'm changing its eating habit. It's not very happy these days. (And yes, I'm disturbed that I'm referring to my body as is--I just love my control issues.) We're on the same page with Lost, btw. I watch it without needed to go down the rabbit hole of theories.

Jeanne and Jen: Thanks so much for doing all that spreadsheet work on behalf of Team Ohana. We're lucky to have you--Prescient Panda did such a good job organizing this team.

Btw, I think we're all doing a FABULOUS job. We're all making WISH part of our life and striving to be happy and healthy. We're all winners, all family (including team members who weren't assigned to Ohana)!

As for me: Another Saturday, another 2 hours of circuit training & mileage-earning XT. I'm going to vent, just a little. Don't you just hate it when people ignore all the other machines to jump in line & use the circuits out of order? What should have taken me 25 minutes took me nearly 45! :headache: For some reason, I had a low-energy day. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better for motivation, as I think the only thing that kept me going today was the thought of having to tell you all I was just too lazy to go today! So thanks!:yay:

I have had such a loooong week, working full time and taking a 24 hour CEU class for my occupational license does not make for a happy week!
AHHHHH! CEUs...Must be that time of year...I am being recertified as a NCC (Nationally Certified Counselor) this month and had to complete several classes this week. My DDs think it is funny I have to still take tests.;) WTG on keeping up with everything.

Jen please take care and get better.

Maria - You are too sweet! But Girl! I AM MEAN AND NASTY! I have the Evil Queen as my avitar....:rotfl: ...and that is what my kids call me. My sister (who I am training for a 1/2 marathon) calls me names too...when I call her, she says "Hell's calling her". That should hurt deep, but it doesn't.

WTG team! Looks like we are doing great! I got to bike today...well on the trainer after a confernce....so I will be able to up the mileage some this week. I hope! I also have 2 shows tomorrow and 1 Tuesday. Lots of dancing....gotta go and study my script.

LATER!

Everyone did great this week! Some impressive numbers, y'all! We are smokin'!

So now that races count double mileage, should I hide DH's keys the morning of the Sarasota half? :rolleyes1

I don't have to do CEU's...mine are CE's and CME's. I have to get 100 every two years for my PA license and 30 for my pharmacy license. I can count the pharmacy ones for PA, but not vice versa. It's dizzying!

Christa...dude, I can't imagine you MEAN and NASTY!

Jen...yikes! Hope you're feeling better soon. Don't push if you don't feel up to it...there will be other days.

Debra...congrats on the XT! I'm really anal about the circuit and it drives me crazy to have to do the machines out of order

Shell...dude, you are hardcore!

Jim...hope the gymnastics meet went well!

Maria...I'm having a really hard time with the eating thing...something happened in October (ummm..work stress!) and it just seems like I haven't been able to pull it together since then.

Vanessa...great job on your deuce! You'll rock the TOT 13K!

My goal for this week is something DH actually suggested...just focusing on getting more miles/minutes each week, not worrying about competing with other teams.

Hey team!!!:flower3: I am feeling a bit better today. Still have a little headache and backache tho. Let me tell you about our temps....

-45 degrees F with windchill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I mention I am so SICK of winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I did get on the TM and got in 50 minutes of walking. I didn't dare risk running just in case. I also did 10 minutes of other stuff for a total of 60 minutes today. Feeling pretty good about the start of getting back on track. But seriously, the weather here is putting a major damper on my mood and motivation!!!!

I am so far behind on this and other threads. So just stopping in to let you know I'm still here and have been busy this weekend getting in miles and hours. Just want to confirm that the Walk Away the Pounds video's will count for both miles and hours. Since it was 4 miles and 1 hr long. My local races are very un walker friendly so don't know how many race miles I can contribute.

Mel--- Sending a big thank you to you for doing the shirt orders. I guess there has been alot of additonal discussion about them, but didn't have time to fall all that. I'm just glad you found an option for us that will be cooler and have in time for Minnie.

Hope everyone with injuries and being sick are feeling better soon.

Is there somewhere we can see the hours/miles for the week? The thing I clicked on in the main thread says I need to have an account.

Keep up the great work everyone.

Nancy

Jen: ay carumba that's COLD! I was in Madison a few years ago in the summer for work and enjoyed it so much. It was really nice there in the summer time. And then we got shown pictures of the place we were at in the winter. YIKES! All sorts of big fat icicles hanging off the building and whatnot. I said "Thanks for sending us here in the summer!"

I'm laughing at the notion that I am "hardcore". It's nice to hear especially since I've been hurting. I couldn't take it anymore today and I strapped on my brand new knee brace (to test it out of course before volleyball tomorrow) and had to play some DDR. Only a half hour, and only low BPM songs. It wasn't as fun as it normally was since I wasn't so mobile, but so it goes. I'm probably going to end up having to go to a doctor though for the knee. :sad1: It's been about 2.5 weeks with some improvement, but not enough that I feel comfortable going out running and stuff and I do have some strain in it. boo hoo hoo.

Go out there and do some working out this week people! :cool1:

Nancy - Yes I would count them. I occasionally do some of those workouts and I intend to count them as both.

I just got online after being away my computer for 2 days and it seems like there is some sort of a blow-up over the game? Good grief! I don't have time to read all the posts and hope this is nothing serious, but we are all adults here and the game is nothing more than a way of getting people motivated. To be honest, I have posted our teams results and have no idea of what our overall standing is because it takes so freaking long for the spreadsheet to load on my computer. The only other team I have seen is the 3D's because that's the screen it always opens to. I think our team is doing really well and we all seem to be having fun, so what is the harm? I don't have time to visit other threads (except for once, just to goof on Dave a little) so I don't know what the real problem is. Are the other teams happy like us? Can someone fill me in?

Jen: Thanks for fixing my mess! I posted everything so quickly I didn't even realize the totals were off......and I'm a numbers person.

We can't take this too serious. The main thing is to get us out and about. If this is getting too competitive than Linda and I want out. We are all on the same big WISH team. If not .....

I think things have settled down now. There's no more prize at the end, but I don't think most of us were involved for the prize.

The journey is the prize.

And the family and friends we find on the way are the prize.

And the silly panda antics, too, I think. ::jester:

It's good to hear that things seem to have settled down.

I had a crummy 5 mile "long run" today on the treadmill. It's COLD outside. Hopefully the next time will be better.

We just got back from Chicago. It sure is great being back in 50 degree weather vs the -2 degrees and -30 wind chill. And people were out running. :confused3

Jim... ahhh yes, I live in that weather and don't run in it. Us northerners are a little odd!

Robert - I think our team is pretty mellow about the competition. For me, this is just a game to keep me motivated. I tend to lose motivation in the winter (notice our temps) and this is just what I need!!!! Oh that and having Mel kick my butt at Minnie. So with that said... we really don't want you to go away!

I think our team is great. We really haven't had any undies in a bundle moments!!!!

Hey I resemble that remark.

I probably shouldn't tell you this but there is a secret energy enhancement diet on the market. You eat nothing but Rabbits, especially Jessica's Rabbits.

I've heard that after a nice dinner of Jessica's Rabbit hosenfeffer you get a wonderful case of the runs.

Helpful Panda:hippie:

So that's why those guys are so fast! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree with everyone. I think our team is the best. We have all different kinds of atheletes and that's what makes it so great. The fast people add lots of miles and the slower ones add the hours. We have swimmers, cyclists, rowers, dancers, etc etc. I don't care which team has the highest ranking.....we're all winners if we get out there and do something!

Ok, I'm going to try to catch up. I know I missed alot over the weekend. You guys are the Energizer Lilos and Stitches, you are on the move!

Good Morning!

Dave -- I'm glad you spend so much time chatting with the other teams. That means you're not out there racking up miles!:rotfl:

Jen -- It's -20 w/the wind chill and I will not be stepping outside unless I have to, i.e. getting to and from work. There's no way I'd workout in this. I am a definite weather wimp!:scared1:

ScubaDiver -- Enjoy your warmth. I'm picturing sunny skies, and a scorching 50 degrees to keep me mentally warm!:surfweb:

Corinna -- I also love the Panda, he is a riot! For me, the prize is I get to spend about a week in Disney, do the race, and hang out with dh and my WISH buddies. I'm already looking forward to it. Fitness I find along the way is a big bonus!:thumbsup2

Robert -- ok, I'm all for the "prize within each of us", but I need a trip to look forward to, as well! What can I say, getting to Disney is a huge motivator for me...it's why I convinced dh to do the Half last year in the first place!;)

Mel -- I am almost afraid to ask what I missed this weekend -- between shirts and prizes it sounds like the WISH Team had all kinds of issues going on. I'm hoping everyone is just happy to be here now, like I am!:yay: Thanks to you for hanging in there with us, I gather it might not have been the most pleasant...:confused3

Jeanne -- I hope we're doing well, but for me posting is a way to personally try to improve myself. It's not that I don't care what other people do, it's just that I can only control and motivate me, and posting really helps with that. I like the team aspect because it allows me to get to know a few people better, and it's hard with so many of us. I need a smaller group to keep up with and feel comfortable. Thank you for working with the results and making sure our team posts with everyone else -- and I hope everyone overall is happy to just have fun, and go with it!:woohoo:

Shell -- Trust me, in my house you qualify as hard core!:cool1:

Nancy -- I'm with you, I can't look at the list, either. Could someone who can see them just summarize the totals for each team to date? :teacher:

Christa -- I refuse to believe you are truly a minion of the Dark Side! I bet your sister means the good kind of hell, you know, the "I have so many wonderful ways to train, it's hell to choose" type.:goodvibes

Debra -- Food is definitely my downfall. Well, food at night. I hold it together all day, and then it all falls apart. I'm really hoping no fast food and no candy will make a difference. I'm also limiting those tasty 100 cal packs of everything to one a day...popcorn::

I did my long walk Saturday, weights yesterday, and tonight I'm back on the TM for an hour. I feel good, but my scale is not showing any positive results. I guess it will kick in eventually...:rolleyes1

Go, Go, Go Team Ohana! :cheer2: :cheer2: :grouphug: :dance3: pirate:
Maria

Maria - I totally get what you are saying about needing a trip to look forward to. It really helps with some of the tough days, doesn't it? And I also agree with you about enjoying the chance to meet in smaller groups - I was a little intimidated to jump into the big thread, as many times as people said to do just that - it was still a little daunting, just cause, you know, kind of an introvert. :)

Scuba Diver Jim - Brrr - it must be nice to be back where it is more comfortable for running. I can get behind running in cold weather, but with wind like that...sorry, no. At least they weren't swimming.

And unless I'm mistaken, our team is leading the pack in minutes! With special props to DeeKayPee and Gatorphipps who each had hours in the TEENS. :worship: Our hour total was 105:50 and our mileage total was a very respectable 310.16. The range of miles for the other teams was from 218.04 up through 359.86 with Herc's Heroes in the lead! The hours ranged from 56.58 up through our über-impressive 105:50! I would say that we are doing very well, and certainly got an A for effort this week! It's a LONG haul, though, so here's to more of the same! :grouphug:

Thanks for the update, Corinna! I am having alot of trouble getting the spreadsheet to load. It takes a few minutes and then it's always the first team that comes up. If I click on Team Ohana, I then have to wait another few minutes for that to load also. I simply do not have the time to load each team just to look at the results. I know we're just getting started and the system has some kinks so I'm just going to be patient. It would be nice if someone would post a report of overall team standings on the main thread, but I realize something like that takes time and we are all so busy! We should probably make Dave do it so he will have less time to train!
