Hi Everyone,
I'm so glad to be here! I really need the motivation of a Disney reace to keep moving. I just finished my first Minnie marathon with my sister and hope to move onto a half in January 09 or a full in January '10 or maybe a 1/2 triathalon... I injured my IT band before the Minnie (but I finished the race!) and am just coming back from resting it now... I think it's so funny that I am in herc's heros - I just added his song to a slide show for our minnie marathon trip:

Girls Minnie Marathon trip slide show

I ran 4km in 30 minutes (First run since the Minnie) on Friday and am going out again tonight when DH gets home to catch the chitlets.

cdn_gal_eeyore: What is boot camp? Don't forget to wave as you fly by on your way to Quebec!

Hello team,

Leana--Thanks for the bike info! Now I know that a road bike would probably fit my needs best. :)

Linda--I hope your leg is feeling better. :goodvibes

Mary--Congrats on the no knee pain & good luck with the group training!

Welcome Alysa! :flower1:

Hello to anyone I missed.

Here is my update:
7-18 4 miles (52:13).
7/21 2 miles (25:19). Also biked 1 mile (3:56min) on gym bike & did XT (30min).
A little knee discomfort but not like before. I'll be through with physical therapy in about a week or so & it's definitely helping.

I'm also counting down finishing my Master's classes. :surfweb: 3 weeks & 1 day! I sooo can't wait to be through so I can get some sleep & recover some sort of a social life.

Anyway... I hope everyone has a great week!

Same as the other night. If nothing else, I'm consistant I guess! LOL!

Linda - How are your shin doing? I battled shin splints for a couple of months earlier this year. I found that my calves were really tight. Active Release and massage helped a lot. Good luck!

Alysa - Fantastic slide show! You guys must have had a great trip. Take care of that IT band! A half post Minnie is a totally doable goal, so good luck!

Allyson - You are doing great!

Swimming and boot camp yesterday, biking to and from work today, and a 14miler tomorrow. That's what I've been up to!

Please excuse the interruption!

Hey guys, if you haven't noticed, Judy & myself are trying to entice as many WISHers as possible to voluntEAR as Sports Enthusiasts for Marathon Weekend.

It will be lots of fun, and what a great way to support others WISHers (and all the athletes) if you are not participating! :thumbsup2

Nevermind, you receive a one-day park ticket, jacket and a snack for your troubles!

I know that we had a blast doing this last year and we hope to have much more particpation this year. :woohoo:

Come on guys, you know you wanna.... :cheer2:

Back to normal team posting activities...

Hey guys, don't forget to post your weekly totals for me!

Thanks!

I am happy to report I'm back to some form of exercise since my surgery. I walked a whopping FIVE MILES this past week! :lmao:
I walked a mile Monday thru Friday and did OK. Next week I think I'll be crazy and move up to two miles a day.

Doc keeps saying every week I see him in a couple weeks he'll probably clear me to start some running, so we'll see! Maybe soon I can start running a minute or two throughout my walks.

Walks are going OK, right thigh is still numb from surgery and burns when I walk. Old quad injury hasn't acted up yet.

Still on for the January Half. I would like to be running, but it is looking like I'll have to do a walk / run program. I have had complications with my surgery and it is looking like I'll need revisions done right after the Half. :sad2:

Still, I'm happy to finally add anything to the Herc totals, although pretty small.

Sooo,
5 miles / 1:35 minutes

I just got in. Did my longest training run ever, 3 miles. I feel good about pushing it a bit further. I need to start increasing my miles. Took me 40 minutes. Not the greatest but I did have to stop and walk a bit extra in the middle, my ankles were hurting. I'm glad I got out there though, I wasn't feeling terribly motivated this morning.

Hi there :wave2: - newbie here. As noted above, I'm in Chi-town training for my very first marathon. I'm hitting a bit of a mid-summer slump and need some extra motivation to keep me going the next few months.

Now that I'm here, what info I need to provide and how often?
