I know this is food-related, and I know you are probably going to move it! :thumbsup2 But I wanted it to stand out for people to see, because:

~We LOVED this place, and I think everyone should check it out!~

Thank you so much, MetroWest, for your recommendation in the food thread! This place is a little bit off the beaten path, and we would never have found it otherwise. What a treasure.

I do have pics of our family enjoying the food there, and it may be the only place where we actually took pictures of the food. If that tells anyone anything.

I feel like we spent a TON of money on food on this trip -- too much :( -- and this is possibly the only money I do not regret one bit. It was an eating experience, and it was worth every penny. We will definitely be going back if we ever get to go back to Universal.

Thanks again!

I just read the menu --- I think I'm going to cry ..... with JOY!!! :rotfl2::thumbsup2

Never been to UNI --- obviously this is not at City Walk correct?

Thanks,
Zebsterama

Ha, this made me lol. It really is THAT good. I don't know if I have ever had food this good?

It is not far from Universal... totally worth the drive. Just a few minutes. But like I said, off the beaten path -- sort of in a residential area, really.

We just happened to go on a Monday night, when they have Happy Hour until close. So we got the Mediterranean Trio and the Caprese Salad for five bucks each! These were two things we probably wouldn't have tried otherwise, and they were so awesome. Especially the Caprese Salad. My wine was also discounted. I'd say definitely go during Happy Hour and/or on a Monday night (better call to confirm this, as I do not see it listed on their website).

We don't eat bread -- try to stay gluten-free as much as possible -- and the burgers were still so HUGE and completely satisfying, even without the bread. My youngest son and I split the Key Lime chicken dinner, and still ended up having to take his sweet potato tots back to the hotel with us. SO much food... and our bill really wasn't that bad at all. Under $80 for all five of us, including tip, wine, and two appetizers. That IS a lot of money to our family -- but considering how much we spent at so many places that were not memorable and we were literally just "filling the tank"... like I said, worth every penny!

My oldest son took food pics -- I will try to post later. :)

Thanks so much for sharing this.

I love this disboards so much, but I must say that I'm not a fan of all things food related being merged into the giant thread. It is an awesome thread, but a little overwhelming. :confused3

I've added Teak to my list of near-Universal restaurants to try. It sounds perfect for my family.

I'm off to the mega-thread to search for more recommendations. (unless anyone wants to add their favorite off site places for breakfast, other cheap-ish family places or the best pizza delivery options):)

Thanks again for the recommendation

i've eaten there also and loved it.

the only problem i had there was what to chose on the menu.
narrowed it down to 3 things.............big decision in choosing just one

you have to go back and get one of the other 4 dishes on your next trip.

todd liked the food he had when he first went with you so much, he ordered the same thing when i was with him.......

I felt my ears burning on this thread so I thought I'd better fine out what the deal was. ;)

Lol.........your ears would have been burning last night too.........we were talking about how often you have been able to scare the bejesus out of me.......:rotfl:

I so need to try this place out in September. I won't have a car but since it's fairly close a cab ride shouldn't break the bank. Besides, after looking at that beer menu, even if I did have a car I don't think it would be a wise idea to drive.:rotfl:

We just had dinner here on our last trip, in October, and I just finished writing about it in my trip report last night, if anyone is interested. There are some pictures of the food, in particular the Glazed Donut Burger :thumbsup2

The link is in my signature - Friends Don't Let Friends Do Karaoke - and it's Day 11 :)

Thanks for posting this. It's always nice to take a break from park food. I'm going to bookmark this restaurant for our next trip (whenever that may be, lol).

Have to agree with joconnar about the food thread.

Thank you for the recommendation! Menu looks great & I'm always on the hunt for a great beer menu!!!
