When I was a kid, the teacups were one of my favorite, must-do rides EVERY time we went to Disneyland. As I've gotten older, spinning things just don't agree with me anymore.

Has anyone ever successfully taken something like Dramamine and been able to ride the teacups??

As it's not a forced to spin ride, it's actually not that hard to counter the spin as long as everyone riding it with you agrees with that plan.

As a fan of simulators and roller coasters of all types, I can honestly say Teacups are not my cup of tea. Can't do Dumbo, Magic Carpets or Astro Orbiter for that matter.

I've renamed it "The Hurl-A-Whirl" because even with 2 Bonine in my system, those things are a no go for me. :crazy2:

The Transdermal Scop patch. Without it I can't ride even the parking lot tram LOL, but with it I can ride everything comfotably except Forbidden Journey at IoA. It's a prescription you get from your doctor.

I take Dramamine at Universal because FJ and Simpsons make me want to hurrrrrrl. It doesn't seem to help me with straight-up spinning, though. As PP says, if my party agreed not to spin the cup (much), Id be ok--but they laugh maniacally and deny that request. So I stay away from the Cups of Death. Hulk, yes. Cups, noooo.

Teacups are a no-go for me anymore. I needed to sit down for a long time after that one.

God, no, I would not even attempt it, no matter how many drugs I had taken. Sure fire way to ruin my day.

I don't get sick but incredibly dizzy if I look outside the teacup. Staring at the wheel in the center seems to attenuate the dizziness.

This. I can ride RnR all day long, I can do EE several times back to back (though I do have a limit). I can do Mission Space. But the TeaCups....not so much. I will absolutely go on it, but I work hard to keep our cup dead still. DW feels the same way as I do, so we ride together. Meanwhile, my kids are in the cup next to us spinning so hard that they start to slide all over and look like a centrifuge.

I used to love these type of rides. I would crank that wheel like crazy. Then last year I suffered from vertigo from a really bad sinus infection. Ever since then I haven't been able to ride them. We went on one at Six Flags and it kicked my butt. I had to close my eyes and hold on for dear life.

Thanks all! I guess I need to talk DH into riding with me and keeping it still, and let the boys ride on their own and spin away.

Nope...I take Dramamine a lot going to amusement parks due to my motion sickness/vertigo. I still won't get on the teacups!

Bonine works for me. I feel nauseous easily, (even on a swing set), but I was able to handle the tea cups with DD when I took bonine (I started taking it a couple days before our Disney trip). My guess is that EVERYONE reacts differently to these various meds, but you could test it out by going separately at first (and figuring out how much spin you can handle).

Bonine worked for all the Universal rides but their version of the Tea Cups. I was able to do one but my niece had to stop spinning as I was feeling ill. I let her ride Storm Force (I think that's what it was called) again after I got off. Line was dead, she could have ridden it over and over again.

I am also sensitive to spinning and get motion sickness very easily (even in movie theatres!). On our last visit I decided I would give it a try. Like others have said, if your fellow riders agree not to spin the tea cup at all, it's not too bad! I felt just fine :)

I take pictures and video while I ride. Focusing on the camera helps me avoid the dizziness. I think it's like how dancers need to find a still spot to focus on when they spin. Not really sure, but it works for me (even when the kids spin the cup).
