With both my mother and mil being teachers, I've gotten a first hand look at teacher gifts over the years.
Love: Gift Cards - my m.i.l.'s class has been doing Barnes & Nobles, local restaurants, the local mall and even a few years ago an American Express Gift Card. She also has enjoyed receiving fresh flowers, plants, etc.
Don't Love: candles, mugs, teacher apples, ornaments that say Best Teacher on them (they love notes, cards, etc but if they put up all of their teacher ornaments there'd be no room for anything else).
As class mom last year, I collected money for my DD's Kindergarten teacher and bought a $100 G.C. to the local mall (She was thrilled). For the end of the year, a friend and I chipped in and bought her a basket of Tastefully Simple products (gourmet food mixes for breads, soup, brownies, etc.) She seemed to like that
I've thought of the scrapbook idea, but I'm always unsure if it's really what they'd want. They're not inexpensive and they take a lot of time and I'm not sure they want to remember every moment of the year in the same way we do as parents. Do any teachers have any thoughts on these?
Anyway, hope this helps.
