I need calendar math ideas for third grade. I need to start using calendar math to fill in some major gaps in our math curriculum. What kinds of activities do you do for your older students?

I would like to teach place value to the hundred thousands place, line, bar and picture graphing, money, double digit addition and subtraction, greater than/less than, time...

any creative ideas? :confused3

Thanks!

Hi!

One thing that I do during calendar is "Mystery Math Number." I have a secret number and write clues to have the students figure out what the number is. I emphasize place value during this time. One clue might be "The number in the tens' place is the sum of 3 + 2." I try to make my number a significant or interesting number that is hard to guess quickly. My students always love this activity. I hope that helps.
