Teachers: Gifts for Students?

Middle school kids love gum! My dd (freshman now) said middle schoolers would do anything for gum! Lol! That said I would also consider a bingo party, hot cocoa and doughnut holes or any special kind of day out of the norm. I would bring treats for every major holiday for my dd's homeroom class during her last class and all the kids really appreciated it. It seems after elementary school they get nothing... Have fun! You must be a special type of teacher to even consider a present for that many kiddos!

I teach PreK/K and I give my kids a small stocking with a pencil, eraser, lollipop and a teeny beanie baby in them(get them in bulk in the package on ebay). I put their names on the stockings with glitter glue. I buy Christmas themed items at 75% off each year to use the next year. I also give books. Last year I used Scholastic points, but this year they did not have good, cheap books. I went to my local thrift shop this weekend and found so many great, like new books for 25-50 cents and they were buy one get one free:woohoo: I was able to match books to the kids reading level/interests. I got the books for them plus some for our school library for $11.

For older kids, I think a no homework pass, or a free day where you watch a movie and have snacks would be good Christmas presents. My son never got anything material from his teachers after about 2nd grade, but they always had a party.

My kids favorite gift from their teachers.....A homework pass. So far my 5th graders got 1 for Halloween & 1 for Thanksgiving. They love being able to take a day off...more than any pencil or treat. All it would cost $$ is the paper & ink to print them. :thumbsup2

When I was in high school, my Algebra teacher gave us a homework pass with one of these attached to it. She changed the word "worker" to "student", but we all got a kick out of them.

These are great ideas, everybody. Thanks so much. It's 5th graders that I teach.

Merry Christmas!:santa:
