Teacher/Nurse discount swan/dolphin questions

Are these discounts only available some of the time? How far in advance can you book it? do you have to call them or can you utilite the discounts online or through disney res. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,

We were able to book at the teacher's rate last August at the $149+ standard room rate. We had to call them direct at 888-828-8850. I guess we booked some time in Feb. or March - had three rooms at that rate.

We had a most magical seven day stay. Both hotels are great!! If you stay at the Swan, be sure to visit the Dolphin.

As I discovered, if you are looking for teacher discounts at school vacation times, they are not really available. I have been checking for Feb vacation for quite a while - there were teacher discounts at $169 for 3 days at the beginning of Feb - that's all! Otherwise, the "discount" was quoted at $249 - too steep for me. For April, the discounts are only for 2 days at the beginning of the month and on the 27th and 28th.
I am sad to see them so few and far between now. We have stayed at the Swan or Dolphin for the past 4 or 5 yrs (and luckily always in the same room too) using them, but it appears that since reservations are going up, they are no longer offering them. We will need to look to other hotels now for our trips.
If there is anyone out there reading this post - please try and offer them again - we have been loyal S/D guests, but may not be able to any more. Caroline

We too have been S/D goers for the last 4-5 years. But the prices this last year have been too steep. We had enough points for one free night, but figured it's so much of a hassle to just move for one night so I got 3 nights all together, I can't wait. I split our stay between POFQ & Dolphin, booking a teacher rate which was $169 Yikes (Easter vacation time). But I couldn't bear not to go there at all. Our last trip we stayed at the HIFS and we loved it but still miss the beauty and convience of the Dolphin. Plus I wanted to be at the Dolphin for Easter.

I find it odd that everyone has had so many problems with the teacher's rate. We were able to get it twice this year at the Dolphin during two peak times. We got it during Easter for $139 per night standard view and then again after Christmas at $149, and these were peak times! Maybe you just get lucky with these teacher's rates.

I too am hoping for the teacher rate for June. The Dolphin has been my fav. resort for years now and we're all so disappointed that it looks like we won't be able to book the Dolphin for our June trip. I'm not ready to give up hope yet though.

I was able to get the nurse's rate, but only for the last 2 nights of our end of August/beginning of September trip. I asked for the AAA rate for the first 5 nights and was able to get that. It was $20.50 more per night, but still the best way to be able to stay at a deluxe. We will be paying $169.50 AAA rate and then $149 nurse's rate. If you don't belong to AAA ask for the rate anyway and then join if you get it. The membership fee, about $45, is well worth it.

I've been calling for 2 months with every code I have available to me (AAA, Teacher, Govt., AP). At first they didn't have any. And I've gradually worked my way to 3 nights at $169, I got my 3rd night two days ago still trying for a fourth night. This is the highest I've ever paid for them, and it hurts in the pocketbook, but I really love it there.
I can't how how they have gotten.
I remember paying $99 in Sept 2003. And $125 after that. Oh well.
