Someone e-mailed this to me and I wanted to share...
To all teachers, former teachers, and friends of teachers.......Do you sometimes nod off in staff conferences and staff development? What about those long and boring pre-and post-observation conferences? Here's a way to change all of that: TEACHER BINGO!
1. Before (or during) your next staff conference or staff development day, prepare your "Bull**** Bingo" card by drawing a square (I find that 5" x 5" is a good size). Divide the card into columns--five across and five down. That will give you 25 one-inch blocks.
2. Write any of the following words/phrases in each block: staff development, professionalism, standardized test scores, revisit, block scheduling, genre, new standards, workshops, learning objective, innovative, brain-based, observations, strategies and skill, result-driven, goals, articulated, knowledge-base, supervisors, superintendent, student-directed, learning center, district goals, instructional plans, evaluation, research-based, dovetail, interface, multiple learning styles, rubric, site-based management, cultural literacy, IEP, TAKS, benchmark. (you know the words to use)
3. Check off the appropriate block when you hear a speaker use one of these words/phrases.
4. When you get five blocks checked off horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, stand up and shout, "BULL****!"
Testimonials from satisfied "Bull**** Bingo" players:
* "I had been in a faculty meeting for only five minutes when I won." -- Jack W., Staten Island
* "My attention span at meetings has improved dramatically." --David D., Brooklyn
* "What a gas! Staff Development will never be the same for me after my first win!." -- Bill R., New York City
* "The atmosphere was tense in the last faculty meeting as 20 of us waited for the fifth box." -- Ben G., Queens
* "The principal was stunned as eight of us shouted 'BULL****' for the third time in 40 minutes." -- Kathleen L., Bronx
I sure hope the asteriks insert where needed

I think I better wait until I have a few teaching years under my belt before I play, but I'll keep it in my "Time Fillers" file.
