Since my ex accessed my account :scared1:, fraudulently, and used up 141 of the points that I was planning to use for DDs Sweet 16 trip :sad1:, I will need to "rent" 12 points to finish out the trip I have planned, IF, I am able to get my request at the 7 month mark.

I know, from speaking with Member Services, that I can rent up to 24 points in a use year, and that they are $15 each, so I know it will cost me $180, but when does this get paid? Is it on the day I attempt to switch my current reservation to the resort I really want? :confused3

Sorry to hear. :( Hope karma comes around ...

AFAIK, the cost of the rented points direct from DVC is due at the time of the reservation where you rent/use the points.

You probably will have to transfer points from another member if it is not exactly 12 points for the night because the person you rent from has to make the reservation otherwise. Just something to think about. It might be easier to just rent them from member services.

When renting the points from member service payment is due at the time they are rented. I would assume that they make the reservation to make sure there is a room available before accepting the payment.

You can not just rent points from DVC willy nilly, they have to be used for a booking at the time they are rented. In other words, you can not rent points from DVC by just calling and saying you want 24 points for future use, the points must be tied to a reservation...and points must be rented during the 7 month window, so there is no home resort 11 month priority for the rented points.

If you are buying the points from Disney (up to 24 at $15/point), you pay at the time the reservation using them is made.

If you are going to use points transferred to you from another member, the points must be in your account prior to the reservation being made.

Good luck!

I was also told last week that you have to be out of current UY points in order to buy them as well. As long as you have current UY points, then they won't sell them to you.

I will definetly be out of UY points + 2012's points. The original plan, before KyCruiseCrazy ripped me off, was to use 2011's points, borrow 2012's points and use the 52 points that I had banked from 2010 for a total of 372 points.

We already had the reservation made for July 2012 when I ended our relationship and he left. He headed to Florida, cancelled the July 2012 ressie and helped himself to 134 of my points.:scared1:

All of this happened AFTER I removed him as an associate from my account but before I changed the password (I actually thought I had changed the password, but with ALL of the passwords that I had to change I missed DVC:sick: ) so he went online and added himself back on as an associate, changed the email address and phone number on the account to his and enjoyed a stay at POR and AKL before I caught on and had him removed again and changed my account info so that he couldn't get back into it. (I know, what a slime ball :sad2:)

So now I only have 238 points available to use and if I get the resort that I want at the 7 month mark it will cost 250 points, which means I have to rent 12 points. I plan of getting these from member services since most of the point rentals I've seen on the rental board are for larger amounts. I don't think I would be comfortable getting them from someone I don't know anyway. I have trust issues, can you guess why? :rolleyes1

Thanks for clarifying for me that I will pay for the point rental when I switch the reservation from my home resort to the one I want to try out. I figured that would be the case and I knew that I would get the answers I was looking for here. :disrocks:
