Tea with Wendy - Worth going?

Hello,

We are on the 8/24 Eastern 7 day Cruise (me, DH, DD - 6 ). Has anyone gone to the "Tea with Wendy"? Is it good or will my 6yr. old be bored?? (She has little patience as it is!!)

Is this something we need to book in advance or as soon as we get on the ship - or is it first come, first served??

It's very short, about half an hour. There are pictures with Wendy at the end. Wendy picks two boys from the audience (my two were picked!) and demonstates how to behave properly. There is a pot of ice tea and cookies on each table - the tables only seat two or three. Then she tells a story. It's cute.

You have to be at a certain spot at a certain time in advance to get tickets. It's held on Tues and Thurs, but I guess it may be different on the Western route.

Ours fell right during our reserved Palo's high tea, which we ended up canceling. If we had played our cards right, we might have been able to do both. But keep that under consideration while you're planning. All my kids were happy they went - a 7D, 9B, 10B.

Our daughter went two years ago and loved it. She spent as much time at the oceaneers club as with us. There are great activities for the kids on the cruise and pleanty of counselers to keep an eye on the kids.

My daughter is 7. She and I went and were TOTALLY bored !!
After Wendy tells a story all you do is WAIT IN LINE to have your
picture taken with her. That's it...............we left when the line started
to form. Unless you are a real Wendy fan, I would skip it.

We went and Wendy tried to get a little boy to come up, he was too shy, after looking around, she asked my 3 year old son, and he was more than happy to go.

Now, everytime we have cookies and tea with my daughter's tea set, my son says that the cookies are really "biscuits", cause that is what Wendy called them.

It was obsolutely worth going for us. Treasured memories. You can't replace them

If you're looking for a party with dancing, music and lots of activity - this isn't it. It's a quiet affair, where mostly everyone sits and has a lovely time enjoying the food and the company. It's different, it's special, it's relaxed but I could see how some children may not be able to just enjoy the 'downtime'. It's a snack and pictures with Wendy - nothing more. Yes, you wait in line, but it's like any other character greeting with a little special extra thrown in.

are there other opportunities to get photos of Wendy? DH and I don't have any children but I would like to have photos of as many characters as possible and was planning on stopping by just to snap a few of her...do you think that would be possible?

Of course, this is a Disney Cruise.... everyone is a kid, or you wouldn't be there? Right? LOL!

Our dd was 5 on the cruise when we took her to the Tea With Wendy. It is cute, but we won't do it again. She and her sister (8 at the time) didn't REALLY enjoy it - they were just anxious to get back into the club when it was over. ~I'm glad I took them~ just for the experience and the picture (we got a Tea With Wendy trading card, too).

Taysalyn: We never saw Wendy around the ship again. This may be your only opportunity. My favorite Disney movie is Peter Pan and I have to admit I took the kids more for me than them! If you feel uncomfortable going without a kid, just borrow one for the half hour There were lots of kids freely roaming the ship unsupervised when we cruised in July, '01

We did see Wendy another time during the 7 day cruise last October. I don't remember exactly when or where (sorry!). But it was a photo opportunity.

My 5 year old daughter was BORED! I'm glad we did it, but on our upcoming cruise I figure the time will be better spent elsewhere!

Actually, the day we were waiting to board, Wendy came out and posed for picture in front of the cruise Ship model. Photographers were on hand and photos were available at shutters the next day! LOL

And I have a picture with Wendy and my daughter in the atrium one night when they have character photo ops before dinner every night.
